If you follow the Testhan River from where it flows out of Knife's Edge to where it empties into the eastern ocean, you will find yourself at the Vogruk-Stokes Company Estate. While the estate is not quite a city, it is certainly large enough to be referred to as a town. The estate is unusual in that it is not ruled by a lord or lady, but rather by a business partnership between two men of common birth known as Sellos Vogruk and Eogman Stokes. The Vogruk-Stokes Company is famous across all of Salvar--and indeed popular in other countries as well--for selling rare items and providing unique services that simply cannot be found anywhere else on Althanas.
Outside of the estate's first wall you will find a multitude of sprawling farms, aeromancy towers, and other smaller keeps. Additionally, as it is a coastal town, the docks are located outside of the walls and are thriving with business and sea-going traffic. The walls themselves are not quite as formidable as the walls of Knife's Edge, but they are still enough to give any invaders a tough time. There are only two gates leading into the town, one located on the western wall and the other on the southern wall. Guard towers line these walls at regular intervals, although the strongest ones are located near the gates at at the four corners where the walls intersect.
Inside the walls is an attractive, bustling town with a variety of markets and middle-to-upper class housing. The town's lower class districts are small and located along the walls of the city. There are also several libraries, museums, and restaurants that are talked about all over Salvar. The town here is less diverse than Knife's Edge, with over ninety percent of its inhabitants being humans. Once inside the city, you will notice that there is yet another set of fortified walls separating the town from the inner estate. There is only one gate--located on the northern inner wall--that can be used to enter the actual estate itself. Here you will find wide lawns of green grass, beautiful statues and elaborate fountains, the rich villas of Sellos Vogruk and Eogman Stokes, and a variety of storehouses, business offices, and barracks.
The Vogruk-Stokes Company Estate is guarded by mercenaries and its waters are patrolled by privateer ships. Despite the fact that these guards are really soldiers for hire, they can all be recognized by their signature VSC bone-and-scale armor. If you need a guard, look for someone wearing this armor with a badge somewhere on their breast--the symbol of the Company, a snorting boar with its tusks upturned and its body labeled "VSC."
