I suggested this in the chat, and it seems a decent idea so I'll post it here.

Judges are, to an extent, who we get most of our critique from, and thanks to that we can improve, but with the strain already put on the judges to keep up with all the threads, they can only do so much before they have to move on to another thread. I think it may help lighten that load and improve some scores if starting players had access to their own informal editors, in a sense; someone who could talk with the player to help determine what direction they want to take with a character, and what style of writing may fit best.

I'm imagining a stickied thread with a list of 'coaches' in which new rpers could post to request assistance in completing a post, overcoming some habitual misspellings, or anything else that could help them toward better writing. A lot of people do this already among friends, but those just joining usually have to wait for their first judged thread to get advice. Whether or not it would work would, of course, depend on volunteer 'coaches.'

I'd be interested to hear any suggestions or feedback.

Sounds like a very good idea, on the whole. It's a more informal approach to the forlorned and abandoned 'Writer's Workshop' we had before.

The problem there, though, despite being an advocate, was the formal nature and the 'responsibility' factor. People felt obliged, because there was a reward of sorts for doing so.

I would, on the side, be very much eager to help with coaching - dialogue, brevity, and flare, I guess would be where I could help - dialogue especially.

Definitely something to encourage on the whole!

Yes, do that.

And the Workshop isn't gone.
