History: I am not sure who I was before the Change. I only remember the moment they came, and who I am now. The Fae of the Brokenthorn call me Changeling, and I call them sisters. Their life is my life. Their home is my home. My purpose is to guide the Changelings. The priesthood is a mockery of the human religions, purposefully chosen to give us a wry satisfaction when we cull their cattle, topple their towers, and burn their fields.

Our glades are just warrens of refuse, wild flowers, and effigies to the power of nature. We have no abode to call our own. We sleep were we wish, and eat what we can catch, and tend to the forest day, night, and for eternity. We look for other lost children, those who are not missed, those who have no hope, and those who wish to hide away forever. In exchange, they get all we have to offer.

Their new life has meaning, whilst they are touched. They are known as many things, in many tongues, in many times, but all refer to them as the women of the woods, the witches of the wild, the nymphs, the sprites, the effluent conclave folk of the deep dark expanses of the Brokenthorn. They start to transcend mortality, becoming part man, part Fae, and part something in between.

All I can think about is protecting the forest unseen, unheard, and utterly resolute. Where we Changeling differ from the druids is in an approach to worship, to dedication. There is no right to wear robes, or rituals deep and mysterious, there is simply reverence, a close personal conversation with the creatures and the bark – a natural and foreboding symbiotic relationship. We speak for the forest. We live for the forest. We die for the forest.

Only the foolish investigate the rumours of the wild folk, and only the truly brave go into the dark under croft of the trees without being prepared. When they do, we hunt them. We tear them apart if they are unworthy. If they break a twig, we break a bone, and if they lie why they have come, we cut out their tongues. It is quite nice, actually. I may not remember what brought me happiness before, but I know what does now.

We live the day-to-day using our surroundings, bending the bough of a wide leafed tree, and collecting dead wood to build shelters, so that they may forever be flowing between the branches and trunks like the wind. When they heard of me, and when the Change began to happen to me proper, the priesthood found me in a hovel by a brook. They took me in. They showed me how to hunt mortals. I find them. I enslave them. I Change them.

I do not know who I am. I only remember the people I Change, and dream of what I stole away from them.

Skills:

Brawler: The woods of the Brokenthorn are a very dangerous place. With metal scarce, and magic rife, you need to think quick on your feet. Jennifer knows how to fight, quite literally tooth and nail, and is an adept and savage unarmed fighter.

Hunter: Jennifer knows how to lay traps and track animals, insects, beasts and birds. She also knows how to trap, bind, and sedate humans, her favourite prey of all. She is an adept at this, and can make all manner of devices to fulfil her needs.

Knowledge (Herbalism): Jennifer has adept knowledge of the properties of herbs. She can apply flora found in the woods to a wide variety of uses. She cures stomach bugs, fevers, and light wounds, as well as more Fae like maladies.

Abilities:

The Change: Jennifer has begun to manifest Fae talents. These are magical, innate, and subtle abilities. They form based on the kith of the Fae that caught her. Becoming more and more Changeling-like is as much a mental change as a physical adaptation. She is unhinged, morally eschewed, and devoid of conventional social values that underpin most mortals. As a result, she has no fixed personality.

Faceless: Jennifer can physically alter her facial features at will, by literally remoulding her skin. She can manifest any colour, texture, and hairs or thorns. Whatever the outcome of her change, it is purely cosmetic in nature.

Emotionless: She has emotions, by all means, but they are constantly changing, erratic, and entirely unpredictable. She is sometimes too easy to temper, too quick to rage, and never certain of how she will manage any given situation.

Soulless: The Change destroys the mind and soul first, and then works to undo the body. Jennifer has, as a result, no soul. She is effectively immortal, age replaced by mutation, and time replaced by duty.

Weightless: Her body reacts to gravity and physical motion out of convention more than reality. Three times per thread, Jennifer can become ethereal for one post. Any strikes cause confusion, stamina loss, and lingering pain. She cannot interact with the world around her in this state.

Kith: A Changeling becomes more and more like their captor. Jennifer’s captor was an Oakheart. This kith of Fae are born from oak trees in the Brokenthorn, and are wise, tricksy, and malefic. Though only in the middle of the complicated hierarchy of the Changelings, they hold sway for their ability to adapt to any situation, wherever or not it is through choice. After living so long, most Oakheart lose their minds and become grumbling, sage like purveyors of the Old Ways.

Skin of an Oak: Jennifer has a physical resistance equal to wearing steel chainmail across her body. She can, at will, make her skin change appearance, to resemble thick oak plates or gnarled hide. The defence remains regardless of her chosen appearance.

Might of an Oak: With concentration, Jennifer can extend her fingers into claws that strike like iron daggers. She can conjure a root within ten feet of her body, which strikes like a bull whip. Her strength with her fists strike with focus at X2 strength.

I would like you to make it so she has to wait a couple of posts in between changing forms. Let's say three posts in battles (irrelevant in quests). Also, keep in mind that the magic resistance should be minor at this point.

Otherwise, this is fine. It seems like a lot of stuff, but none of it is overly powerful.

Apologies to do this again, but the character as a 'three in one' was not working. I love the idea, so re imagined her.

Could I change the thread title to 'The Many Faced Sister (Jennifer Level One)'

Please?

I changed the title. However, I need you to make an edit before I approve this.

Completely eluding all injuries three times per battle with Weightless is a bit much. I want you to make it so you can't interact with the world around you while ethereal and any strikes that pass through her cause distress or confusion or drain stamina or something like that. I'll let you pick how it would manifest, but there should be some effect.

Your wish is my command, and now I will take you to the Hedge, mortal.

You didn't have to hit her with all three, the poor girl.

You are approved.
