It was a peaceful moonlit night outside a quaint tavern. The moon shone down upon a cobblestone path that led from the road to it's old wooden door. Inside people where laughing and singing, all while getting rather inebriated. Suddenly they heard a deafening crash outside that most mistook for thunder or maybe even a lighting strike. In reality, a planar gateway had torn open just outside the tavern door. It let off a weird purple and blackish glow as it hovered mere inches off the ground. A man, dressed in black silken clothes with an extremely ornate sword on his hip, stepped through the portal onto the pathway. Scampering about his feet were two ferrets, one grey and one black. The man looked around then down at the ferrets.
"See boys, that wasn't too bad. I told you that wizard would send us somewhere new. Of course," he took in his surroundings quickly and chuckled,"I wish he hadn't sent us somewhere so....whats that word again..." One of the ferrets mad e anoise that sound like a bark"..Yes thats it, rustic. Thank you Shade, for the life of me i couldn't remember that word. Well boys up you go."
With that, the man picked up both ferrets and placed them in his silver traveling bag. He then concetrated for a few short moments using glamour to turn his skin from it's natural silver to a more common tan. He decided that his red hair and ice blue eyes looked normal enough, but silver skin just would not do. Not if he wanted to fit in anyway. He walked up to the door, moving with a grace that would be unexpected from such a sinewy young man. He stopped in front of it for a moment pondering what type of tavern this was. Hopefully it's not one of those rough and rowdy places. Gods! How i hate those With that he opened the door and walked in to the unexpected stares of everyone in the tavern.
"Um...um...uh...eh-hmmm. Hello, I'm just a weary wanderer looking for a place to rest his feet and have a cold drink. Have i chanced upon such a place at last?"
Oh I hope that sounded right. Royal tutoring never covered how one should speak in a tavern
Without waiting for a response he began to make his way to the bar, feeling the eyes of everyone following his fluid, almost regal, movements. He sat down at the bar and looked around. The bartender placed a mug of some alcoholic beverage,Daemien couldn't tell what it was, in front of him and requested a silver piece in return.
"Ah...yes i do happen to have some of those!" Daemien replied, excitement at having found something in common between this world and his. He then reached into his bag, withdrew two silvers and gave them to the barkeep. "Keep the second one, as a...what is that word...", again the barking sound could be heard, this time coming from his bag, "Ah yes thats it...a tip!" He then looked down at the bag and quickly said "Thanks Shadow, it was on the tip of my tongue but i just couldn't remember."
Shortly Daemien noticed that everyone had lost interest in him. Sure he got some strange looks every now and then but he suspected it was because he had just talked to his bag. He smiled inwardly as he withdrew a small journal and began writing in it as he sipped on what he had determined to be ale.
Dear journal, Paid Arthas the wizard again to send me somewhere new. Just wish I knew where exactly it was that he sent me. So far these people seem as wary of strangers as everyone i met has been. Well i will make more observations later. Until then fairwell Journal.
