Name: Alden Dunnan
Age: 38
Race: Half-Elf/Half-Halfling
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Breen
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 110 lbs
Occupation: Leatherworker
Personality: Alden is a quiet, thoughtful and considerate person. Slow to anger and quick to give a helping hand. He likes keeping to himself and rarely shares his thoughts on subjects needlessly. Behind his dark breen eyes, many have said they felt like Alden was looking straight into them. Almost as if he was dissecting them with his mind, reading their very being. Many found it unnerving. On the rare occasions he does speak, he sometimes only answers with a sentence, or a single word. Sometimes with a nod or a shrug.
Appearance: Alden looks as well as any other throughout Althanas were it not for the size of his ears. Where he comes from, the elves' ears are longer and more pronounced compared to the elves he has met in Althanas. This has led many to believe he is some sort of faeling, or a biproduct of some horrible transmutational magic.
But that is where the differences end. He is strong and lithe, having both the characteristics of the elves and halflings. He wears his black hair long, down past his shoulders, with a few braids here and there. Many have thought him handsome, with a strong jaw and cheeks. His body is well-toned and muscled through years of ranging the forests of his homeland, the domain of the Elves. He wears hard leather armor that he made himself, over his normal clothes. With his weapons, pouches, satchels and various other accoutrements, he strikes the figure of a rather competent woodsman.
History: Alden is not a native of Althanas. He comes from a different world entirely. When magically transported to Althanas, he lost most of his memory, but sometimes has dreams of his home (I will expand upon this at a later date). When he woke up, he found himself in Scara Brae, bleeding from different wounds and half-crazed. He rambled through the woods he found himself in, but soon after passed out. Luckily for him, a nearby hunting party heard his ruckus, and we're able to get him back to Scara Brae where he could be treated. When he finally woke up days later, covered in bandages, a man was waiting for him at his bedside. His name was Petyr, member of the Scarabrian Guard and one of the men in the hunting party that found him.
When he spoke, strange words came out of his mouth, words Alden couldn't understand. Alden tried to respond in his native tongue, but he could tell the man couldn't understand him either. They came back with expert linguists, but they didn't know the language either. Fascinated, one woman stayed: Helenna. A linguist from Radasanth, she had heard from her colleagues about the strange nature of Alden's case. For a reason Alden couldn't understand, she took it upon herself to teach him Tradespeak.
A few years passed, and after he had been given a new name and help to get on his feet, Alden settled in quite nicely to Scara Brae. He often feels an emptiness when he tries to remember his past, but he's become quite content with the life he's built for himself and finds himself thinking that it wouldn't be a bad life to live.
Skills:
Swordsmanship: (Average) Any woodsman worth their salt knows how to handle a blade. The halfling may not be as skilled as a master swordsman, but he can handle himself in a fight well enough.
Archery: (Skilled) A necessity of any hunter, Alden found his true worth with a bow. Alden may not remember exactly who he is or where he comes from, but some things never leave you. The first time he held a bow in his grip, it felt like coming home. When firing his bow, he hits his targets more often than not.
Tracker: (Above Average) Alden is able to read tracks left behind by wild game, and follow them competently. As long as it hasn't rained or the tracks are weeks old, he can use them.
Leatherworking: (Average) After he had been settled in Scara Brae he took up learning a tradeskill. And thanks to Petyr, the guard that he first met, he was able to get an apprenticeship as a leatherworker with a friend of his. He took to it quite well, and soon after, was able to competently make things from pouches to armor.
Linguist: Learning Tradespeak left Alden with a hunger for languages, and currently knows how to speak Dwarven and Elvish, alongside Tradespeak.
Abilities:
Keen Sight: Thanks to his elven heritage, Alden can see twice as far and twice as well as the average man, both in day and night.
Steady Hand: Through years of training in arts that require precise hand movements, Alden's proficiency with Archery is doubled, proficiency with Swordsmanship is doubled and any leatherworks he creates have a slightly higher chance of being a higher quality.
Dextrous: Due to Alden's prime height and physical composition, alongside his halfling and elven heritage, he excels at moving with precision, agility and grace. This makes him double that of an average man.
Equipment:
Truesilver Blade: One of the only two things he had with him when he woke up in the forest. The blade holds a flawless sheen which seems to only become more pronounced in the presence of moonlight, and the hilt is made of a hardened wood that wraps and forms to the blade almost as if it was bonded to it. (The blade currently holds the equivalent strength of steel.)
Hardwood Bow: Unremarkable and ordinary aside from the sturdiness of the bow itself.
Steel Knife: A knife that Alden uses for combat and leatherworking alike. It is also unremarkable and ordinary.
Leather Quiver: An ordinary quiver used to hold arrows.
-Steel Arrows x15
Hard Leather Armor: Armor that Alden made for himself. It holds no special magnificence aside from the pride Alden feels for making it.
Mysterious Crystal Pendant: The other item that Alden had with him when he awoke in the forest. To the eye it seems to hold no significance aside from its beauty. But Alden feels drawn to it somehow, and when held in his hand, feels a low humming vibration that drives deep into his bones.
Miscellaneous:
He also carries with him various equipment and necessities for surviving in the wild. Medicinal herbs, some jerky, a bedroll, etc.
Familiars:
Cavan: There is no Alden without Cavan nowadays. He found the animal out in the forest when it was a pup, abandoned by its mother. He noticed it held both wolf and dog-like qualities. So he took the the animal home and raised it. Even now, years later, the animal is still fiercely loyal and never leaves his side, even in combat. In return, Alden made him a rather unorthodox set of leather armor, which Cavan seemed to like just fine.
