Seeking battle/adventure in the Radasanthia or greater Corone areas. Peril optional but preferred (mild to average). No previous experience required. If interested, please enquire within.

PS quest/battle allies should be tolerant of Orcs. Opponents may safely ignore the preceding suggestion.

EDIT: the discussion for the March on Irinham (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?25189-The-March-on-Irinham-%28open%29) begins several posts down, right here (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?25155-Corone-thread-recruitment&p=205226&viewfull=1#post205226), for those who are interested.

I am always up for a spar, or two. Or, did you have anything in mind quest wise?

I'm good for a battle or a quest, but Dale isn't very tolerant of non-human species... granted, he hasn't seen any non-human people other than androids prior to coming to Althanas and I haven't started the quest to get him acquainted to Althy yet though.

Thanks for replying! Aurelianus has already contacted me via chat and we'll be undertaking a Citadel battle. Nevertheless, if either of you (Mordelain and Red Dawn) are still interested I would be happy to begin a battle or quest thread. In regards to a quest, I am interested in having Otto participate in the Corone Civil War (he has been drafted into the CAF) - the details will probably depend on the participants, so that everyone has a plausible reason for being involved. On the other hand I would be happy to join in any quests either of you have ideas for, if that's acceptable.

Alright, I have the plan for a new quest! Open to all.

Synopsis:

The quest takes place immediately prior to this thread (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?24443-Round-3-IK-vs-PA-1v1), with large sections of the Empire's military force making their way back to Radasanth in light of the Ixian Knight's attempted coup at the palace. The Empire is feeling control of Corone slipping away and is focused on maintaining the strength of it's army, becoming even more apathetic to the state of the nation's noncombatants.

A CAF battalion has withdrawn from a outpost bordering Concordia at the base of the Comb mountains, and is now in the south-east of Bardbury. They have sent two companies of ~100 soldiers each to an off-route village with orders to procure supplies needed for the large gathering of personnel in Radasanthia and for the forced march there. The village is surrounded by extensive orchards with some additional cereal crops and livestock to secure self-sufficiency and has a small population of around 200 civilians, which had formerly made it a low-priority target compared to richer settlements.

According to received intelligence, the settlement had been lost to the Empire during the war and is suspected of holding Ixian Knight sympathisers. Orders are to seize critical supplies and put down any resistance that the raiding party encounters. A self-formed civilian militia can be expected, but it is unknown whether additional enemy forces will be present.

The goals of this quest are very open ended and depend on the preference of each participant. You may be sided with the CAF and assist with the raid, join the resistance on behalf of the civilians/Ixian Knights/Rangers(who may be obsolete at this point)/Phoenix Ascendant, or simply just be in the wrong place at the wrong time and try to escape with your life. Or, of course, you may have another agenda altogether.

Quite a basic premise, but I'm sure we can spice it up a little in the ensuing chaos. Anyone interested? And does anyone have some suggestions, or see any serious issues with the quest?

I support any and all canonically relevant quests that builds on the story ideas of other people.

If you complete this thread I pledge 100 gold from this account.

I volunteer my alt, Steppenwolf Orlouge for your quest, Otto.

Rayse: that's really generous of you - thanks! Don't feel like you need to keep that pledge though; I've found that tying threads in to the lore/history of the world to be quite satisfying in itself.

Sei: having read Steppenwolf's bio, I'm sure that things will get interesting very quickly. Looking forward to it :)

I'll give it about a day and then get started on the thread - think I'll get some more details sorted out for it first, such as the village location, environment, and layout.

It would take me, maybe, a couple of posts to establish my entrance into the village and the raid itself. However, I'm game if you'll have me. I can use the entrance of my character to Althanas as the opening and go from there. I was interested in having him join up with the Empire and the CAF, eventually finding his way into Radasanth anyway.

You are more than welcome to join, Red Dawn. Welcome to thread!

I should also mention that the thread is now up and named The March on Irinham (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?25189-The-March-on-Irinham-%28open%29).

I saw it man, I'm sorry I haven't gotten to it yet. I just started a new job today so I can get at it tomorrow night for sure.

No problem! I didn't actually post that to pressure anyone, I'd just realised that I hadn't put a link to the quest thread up yet - sorry if it came across like that.

Also, congratulations on the new job :)

Otto, does that guy in your opening post pose any significance to where you were planning on taking the thread? I ask because I was thinking of having my opening post with Steppenwolf incorporate that character as well.

Otto

No, I didn't have much planned for that guy, though it was always a possibility that the people of Irinham would find out what happened and change their attitude towards the CAF accordingly. Other than that it was just a bit of scene-setting, and I also wanted to put Otto in an uncomfortable position for a 'good' guy. Feel free to use that character however you see fit :)

The way I had planned to write the CAF force in this thread is, basically, as a barely-restrained mob of raiders. The intel about Ixian sympathisers in Irinham may or may not be correct; in any case the orders they have to forcibly suppress resistance if they encounter it is basically just code for 'take everything and don't let anyone get in your way'.

I have also noted that the thread has appeared in The Chronicle 2/8 (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?25199-The-Chronicle-2-8&p=205403#post205403) - thank you Luned (and anyone else responsible)!
