There are currently 4 Staff Members online.
One is an admin.
Two have been on all day.

How is it that you only have one person moderating profiles for new characters and new players, which ultimately makes me feel like the site really doesn't care or want new players? lol.
And that one person that is one of the admins and staff on the site, that tends to life off the forum (and apparently lives in Croatia, according to chat)... so isn't on quite enough to keep the submissions active or being pushed through.

Food for thought.

Word of advice, don't feed the trolls! And don't poke the mods with a stick. It's just...not the best way to get going 'round these parts.

With Letho already in the process of reviewing your character, it wouldn't make much sense to have somebody else jump in. Think of him as your personal case agent. He will get back to you as soon as he can. Just be patient. In the mean time, there are plenty of ways to get involved and keep yourself occupied while you wait. Heck, you can even get a head start on whatever RPs you have planned so that you can start posting as soon as Letho approves your character. :)

There was a time when we had a much higher volume of registrations/updates, and at that time we had three mods in charge of RoG. We have a much lower volume now, however, and Letho has been handling it well. I'm not in charge of such decisions, so I'll leave that to others.

Sad to hear. You used to do approvals, and well.

The requested 'turnaround' time for a new character registration to be approved or reviewed is, and always has been, seven working days (we get holidays too, apparently, though I've yet to see one *hobbles off).

I do apologize for not sitting at the edge of my seat at 3am, waiting for an edit to an ongoing approval thread.

Everyone is getting awfully defensive over a simple statement. It's a valid question and one not addressed to newer members very well on any of the guides. A seven day wait is...absurd, to be honest. Fact of the matter is people have real lives as well and I highly doubt Letho sits around just dreaming about approving profiles. I didn't see this as anyone bashing Letho, but merely asking the question: "Why, with so many mods/staff present, is there only one individual doing this?"

One would assume that expedience, if possible, would be the goal when it comes to bringing in new activity.

Just my two cents.

Nobody is getting defensive, though forgive me for thinking that Element seemed to hope people would. In any case, we have one approval mod because we that's all we currently need. Having another one would not have sped the process on Element's profile (as even when we had more, each character approval thread would be handled by a single mod). I'm not sure where the 7-day thing comes from, as I don't recall a character ever taking close to that long to get approved (unless the member took several days to make edits or something of that nature). Element's profile, for instance, got officially approved less than 24 hours after he posted it, including multiple revision steps. When you put that into perspective, this thread seems a tiny bit superfluous. ^^

While we're on an adjacent topic, what's the usual wait for a mod/admin response to a topic posted in Your Word? Or the usual wait for a quest judgment? Just curious.

Quest judgment depends on a lot of factors, so I can't give a fair answer there. As for Your Word subjects, staffers are only human and sometimes don't notice something. Don't be afraid to send a PM or contact a mod in the chat if possible -- those are usually the best ways to ask questions, anyway.

Judgment times vary depending on the backlog and judge activity. It can really be anything from a week to a month or more. Judging tends to be the most taxing job on the staff, so unless someone is on a crazy spree, it usually takes a bit.

As for the response to a topic, you're generally better off PMing some of the mods, because sometimes mods that might have an answer to a query fail to notice it because they don't check every OOC thread. I'll post the response in your thread shortly.

EDIT: Yes, pretty much what Christoph said.

It may be so that you only need one person, but my thoughts would be to delegate to someone who's on quite a bit more --

though I do understand that I kept you on your toes, hungry for more, Letho... ;)
Not saying you did a bad job at all, merely I saw a couple of the staff on every time I logged in over the course of ... twelve hours or so. Lol.

Whatev's. Like the title says, I was just curious.

In all honesty, in my time in the RoG, any profile that took longer than a day to get approved was because the player wasn't making the edits. I used to write on Divine Salvation on the GUA forums, and believe me, this is a cakewalk compared to them. It took me two weeks solid to get approved there, with badgering of staff.
