((I would like to request an expedited approval by a moderator who is familiar with this character from past incarnations of Althanas. I will do a very brief version of my character's history, with the intention of getting this over with so that I can begin journalist activity as soon as possible. This character is NOT for general use as a roleplaying character, although he still follows some general roleplaying rules. In other words, I won't be entering any tournaments with him.))

Name: William James Pullhearst
Editorial Pseudonym: Peabody Polk
Age: 56
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 230 lbs
Occupation: Journalist and Editor, The Radasanthian Reader
Appearance: A old, short, fat man, Peabody appears utterly harmless. Indeed, he is, if one considers the physical body as the only entity capable of causing harm. But inside his weakling form is a powerful mind; his incisive commentary and biting editorials have brought down many an important personage.

History

-Born, raised in London

-Became interested in newspaper writing at an early age

-Rose to prominence as powerful editor in London; authored set of investigative reports on the Stevens family that ultimately toppled Leopold Stevens from his position of prominence in Parliament. (Note: Not the Leopold Stevens of Althanas. Although, in a sense, it was. Let's leave that idea alone, though, it's too confusing.)

-Arrived in Althanas via a freak accident.

-Started the first Radasanthian Reader, to huge success. Was forced to close, however, after an editorial blatantly attacking a leading member of Coronian society, Merk Ramir. The offices were shut down, and Pullhearst moved to Raiaera.

-In Raiaera, Pullhearst was able to cover the liberation of Eluriand. He briefly tried to restart the Reader, but forces outside Raiaera suppressed its distribution.
-Recently, Merk Ramir died, and the forces preventing his return to Radasanth

disbanded. So he has returned, reoccupied his offices in the central square of Radasanth, and is attempting to restart the presses.

Current state

Although he had around 3000 gold when he was forced into exile, with his main source of income (his newspaper) cut off, his gold supply dwindled. Furthermore, it cost him a pretty penny to rerent his Radasanthian offices and fix up his printing press. So he has only 1000 gold to pay columnists and purchase supplies.

Capital Owned

One printing press, capable of printing 150 issues of the Reader with every volume. Issues go for 5 GP, but each copy costs roughly 2 GP to produce, meaning with every issue he earns 450 GP. For every issue, I will post a thread asking people to post in it if they read the newspaper -- for every person who posts, 25 NPCs are assumed to have purchased the newspaper. Therefore, for Pullhearst to earn his 450 GP, at least 6 people will have had to post saying they read it. Pullhearst cannot earn more than 450 GP per issue without paying for a larger press.

One Office in Radasanth, plus secretary. Rent and salary comes to 150 GP/month, whether a paper is produced or not.

50 GP/column is paid to contributions that are printed in the Reader. As of right now, Pullhearst only prints 3 other columns per month, should he receive them.

That means that, should 6 people read the newspaper, Pullhearst earns 450 GP. After paying rent, salary, and commissions to writers, Pullhearst earns 150 GP/month.

((I would like to request this account be seeded with 1000 GP. I had more at my last registration, but I can't find the google cache so I've cut the amount requested roughly in half. I need the money to produce a good IC newspaper for Althanas, and so I'm asking that the mod in question consider the fact that I have asked for NO SKILLS and NO WEAPONRY when approving this request.))

I recognize the character, and hopefully that is good enough.

I see nothing wrong, and actually like it a bit. Good idea, Approved.
