I would like to know the cost of a suit of full mail, above average quality, and with the following enchantment:


When exposed to strong light, such as quarter or brighter sun, the wearer benefits from an enhanced healing rate. As such. their body regenerates from fatigue and damage at double speed. At all other times, however, the enchantment confers a 10% reduction in stamina - energy which is used to maintain the magic.

To make things complicated for you, there are a few other considerations. I would like for Otto himself to forge the armour, and imbue it with the enchantment. His ability as an armourer and enchanter can be found in his profile, here (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?25403-Otto-Bastum-level-one). Also, the materials he will use for forging and enchanting the armour are as follows:


Steel, made with iron recycled from his old hauberk (the work of which is to be given to a local foundry), plus about 20% extra on top of that.
Prevalida, a small ingot or nugget which he plans to fold into the steel prior to shaping. Really, just about 50gp worth, purchased from the Bazaar.
A plant pot with sea holly seeds.

Furthermore, I have a story formulated, and intend for Otto to produce this armour in a solo. I'm curious as to how this will end up working - can I write the thread in the Radasanth forum and have the item awarded as spoils, experience awarded as normal, but gold deducted instead? Or in order to have it judged normally (but with no gold awarded), will I have to write a 21+ post thread here in the Bazaar forum?

Ok, so I think it fair to say the cost of the steel is going to be roughly 275GP for 20 ingots of Steel (which we will say is roughly what he will need for a full suit of armor). Since he already has the iron, we can deduct 75GP. So the full suit base value is 200GP, prior to his work on the armor and the enchantment.

The cost of the Prevalida for a full ingot is 300GP. Since he needs smaller than a full amount, and the quality can be poor since he will be shaping and dealing with it on his own, it brings that cost down to roughly 50GP, as you stated.

The plant pot with the seeds will run 50GP.

The cost of materials runs 300GP.

The enchantment would be valued at roughly 1.5k, due to the weakness it imparts as well as the strength it grants.

You will want to write the work performed as a quest elsewhere (his own local forge perhaps) and request the finished product as spoils.

Not to step on toes here, but I also think it's perfectly acceptable for you to purchase this suit of armor, then write your own quest gaining it. Instead of it being a spoil, you know you get the suit and full EXP instead of having it reduce the EXP you earn.

Both methods are entirely up to you.

Yeah, it's a matter of whether you want to have the GP subtracted or the EXP from the quest subtracted. In either case, you will lose a bit of something to keep (and subsequently gain) more or something else.

Well, I could afford the base materials, even the finished, unenchanted product. But definitely not the enchanted suit, not yet. I will have to write the thread, ask for it as spoils, and take a hit to my exp. Still, I don't mind paying for the base materials (300gp) at the very least.
