(I'm trying to purchase like a basic cottage of some sort with a kitchen. I'm not sure if such items are allowed on The Bazaar, but I figured it would be appropriate to ask here about it. I currently have: 1,440 GP. Let me know what I can get. I can work with a shack too, if I can upgrade it later on. I just would like a house out in Concordia Forest somewhere. Note: I wish to rp this purchase out as much as possible. Thank you for understanding.)
Looking at The Bazaar district in Radasanth, Archanex was there for a very specific set of business. He was settling in Corone long term, after his adventures in Scara Brae. Fresh off the boat, he was tired of sleeping out in the wild lands of Concordia Forest, he also did not want to keep fronting gold to sleep in an Inn that may or may not have vacancies. Things were always a gamble of late. With narrowed eyes, he looked at the shop he had heard of that dealt with the commodities he was looking to obtain. All he wanted was a roof over his head. It didn't have to be a castle, but something decent that fit his life style.
He swallowed his pride and decided to take a peek. He had some good amount of gold with him, so he was hoping he could get a fair deal for a nice sized cottage out in the wilderness. He stepped into the shop and prepared to ask for assistance with his endeavor. All he wanted was a house...
Simple men dreamed of simple things. "Excuse me." Jotham said once he entered the shop. "I would like some assistance in purchasing a house."
The shop wasn't so much a shop as a showroom. Small balsa wood models of various houses had been assembled intricately in glass display cases. Into Jotham's view stepped an absolutely voluptuous woman. Hair dyed the deepest and boldest hue of hot pink anyone on Althanas had ever seen, she approached the one who spoke.
"Oh my, yes, you are certainly in the right place. I am Glenda Hildensnickerbothameulah. And you are?"
As she spoke, she enunciated each syllable precisely and gave off an overly snobbish vibe.
"And you should know up front, sir, one does not simply 'purchase' a house. One makes an investment in their future, which just so happens to be in real estate. Of course, if you wish to 'just' purchase a house, you may be better served seeking out a builder rather than a real estate professional. It is, of course my dear, entirely up to you."
She placed one hand on her hip as she motioned to the various miniature models all around them. Her fingernails were painted in an identical color as her hair, and her lips matched as well. She wore the most god-awful fake jewelry, and the most leisure suit-looking dress one could possibly imagine. Yes, she definitely was a salesperson at heart.

Seeing the pink-haired woman, Jotham could not help but feel amused. She certainly is bold...to say the least. Jotham grinned but otherwise kept his demeanor. He thought carefully about what was said, and then nodded to her. "Well I think I am interested in both real estate and owning. I don't need a house built from scratch, an existing one is fine." Jotham knew he could upgrade a house over time, the important thing was acquiring one to begin with. Archanex rubbed his chin carefully. "So how does this all work? And what would be the cost for purchasing something like a cottage?" Archanex was moving straight to business. "I am looking for something simple with a kitchen that I can upgrade later to a larger house, for that I will need a builder. But for now the house itself is fine." He was making sure to speak in simple term, so that they didn't attempt to push an old fort on him or some nonsense like that.
The woman's lips curled at the edges as she smiled showing her blindingly white teeth.
"Ahh, wonderful, wonderful! I must tell you this is an investment you will remember for the rest of your life!"
She motioned toward one of the closest displays.
"Here we have the Divinity Cottage. It sits nestled up against the nicest little village. There are two bedrooms. One for you and your...well, you do have a woman in your life, don't you?"
A distinctive silence permeated the show floor at her blunt questioning.
"Oh my that did not come out as I intended. I simply mean that surely a gentleman with your assets must have someone significant in their life."

As the moments passed, the lady turned out to actually be far more pleasant than her gaudy demeanor first revealed. Without realizing it, Jotham was enjoying the woman's company and almost forgot why he was there...almost. Looking at the woman for a moment or two, Jotham thought carefully about what was said. "I'd like something with one bedroom if it's possible. The most important thing is a kitchen, and potential to add on other facilities. I am a pursuer of the more arcane arts. If you catch my meaning. Insofar as having a mate, I don't really have one at the moment but I appreciate your kind words." Jotham smiled at her softly. He was actually glad to follow up on the leads that lead him to Corone in the first place, he didn't want to have to have to sleep out on the floor again. That got old really fast. "But yes if you have a house with one bedroom, I trust that would be adequate enough for my needs." Jotham said carefully. He was trying to be as much of a businessman as he could.
"Oh yes, well of course, a single bedroom would be okay I suppose."
She wasn't terribly pleased with his insisting on the one-bedroom, but she wouldn't dare argue with a customer either.
"Let me see, something in a single bedroom with a kitchen. Ahh, yes, I think I have just the thing. Over here, please."
Genevieve escorted Archanex over to a much smaller model, but still with a significant amount of space for growth.
"The land this particular house sits upon stretches for a generous two acres. Really, this model is what we consider a studio. The floor plan does not so much have separate rooms as they are all kind of open to each other with zero interior walls excepting, of course, the lavatory. This here is the kitchen area and over here is where the sleeping area is considered to be. While the floor plan is quite condensed, it is also wonderfully open allowing one to feel at ease inside."
She was beginning to wonder what his available funds for purchase were, but she kept her mouth shut. There would be time for haggling later.

"That is acceptable." It was not that Jotham was in a rush to get started, but it was that he was tired of sleeping out in the wilderness. That left him exposed to the various threats of the wild. Having a place to call your own would eventually become a huge commodity. Jotham thought about what was said, and then asked the all important question. "About how much would this house cost for the investment?" Jotham asked. He was hoping it was within his budget, but he wasn't sure. If he could afford it, he would make the purchase right on the spot. "If the price is fair, I have money immediately on my person." Jotham explained.
"Seeing as how you are a nice young man, I think we could part with it for say 2,000 gold pieces?" She knew he wasn't carrying quite that much, but alas she also knew you never led with the price you intend to get, but once well above so you can slowly work your way down to an agreeable price. The art of haggling was certainly not lost upon her.

Hearing the price range, Jotham felt somewhat discouraged. However, he did not want to give up. "I am in need of this house as soon as it can be paid for. I have currently one thousand four hundred gold pieces." Jotham said. "Mayhaps, some sort of a deal may be reached where I pay off my gold up front and can work off the rest? Would that be possible at all?" Jotham was eager to get settled in. He would diligently work crap jobs if need be to get his house paid off. He just wanted his house. He did feel a little discouraged, but he refused to give up...
She thought for a moment, a tad dismayed at his lack of funds and nodded.
"I think, perhaps, it might be possible to setup some form of arrangement for payment now and some form of work later where your earnings from the work would suffice the remainder of the payment. What kind of work do you do best, sir?"
She looked him over once, and seemed curious as to just what he did for a living to earn those gold pieces.

"I'm one of those Adventurer folks." Jotham said with a proud smile. "But when not in an Adventure, I like to study my craft a lot." Jotham looked towards the large wizard's staff at his side. "That's my craft if you take my meaning. Anywhere that might require a wizard for studying and further enlightenment, I will be glad to be of service." Jotham said carefully. "If you know of any leads where I can apply for work, I would be further in your service." Jotham smiled politely. He was an older man, and old men like he, tended to favor handsome women like the woman before him. He remembered the business at hand. "Would you like my initial payment now, to get the ball rolling? And how much would you require of me for the first payment?" Jotham found himself liking the woman before him. He knew she was a woman, and not a girl. There was a key difference to that, subtle of course, but very crucial to the old man.
She nodded.
"Yes, payment now, young man. We can discuss other forms of payment over tea some time in the future. Please mark down your owed debt and a copy will be made for you to keep on your person."
