Hey Hey Hey! SOPA is back! Fanfiction is buzzing with this information online. Here is an example of the notice.

This is important SOPA is coming back please consider posting this on one of your stories! MY DEAR DARLINGS THIS IS A WARNING! I found this out from an author of a story! In is an important notice that will affect everyone on this sight and many others.

I got a message from a fellow writer gamelover41592 and saw more note and messages from even more, that SOPA is back. The bill that is threatening to take away our freedoms on the internet is back. Not only back, but it is trying to be passed quietly so nobody notices. SOPA will guarantee that anybody who streams a video, whether it be on youtube, a walkthrough for a video game, or a kid singing a song that is 'copyrighted' they will be treated as a felon. That is one of the highest form of criminal offensives for something as simple as uploading a video game walkthrough on youtube, playing a song with lyrics of your favorite artist and even one we all go on, this one right here.

I am telling everyone this because it effect us all here as Fanfiction will being attacked as well. A fanfiction writer can being carted off to a maximum state prison for writing a character from Naruto into their fanfic, or a character from Bleach, or a character from One Piece, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, the list is endless. You think I an exaggerating? I assure you that if this passes it will not be long, not be long at all, because once this passes, then anything goes. Fanfiction will be attacked for using canon characters in a fanon manner, authors will be arrested for writing a book whose main character has glasses just like in another series, artists will be arrested and confined for using sapphire blue in the iris of one of their characters like another author. This effect us all and we can not let it happen.

I figure some of you do not believe me and I can understand. I could be making this up for all you know. But I provided links below to show you I am telling the truth. Simply remove the spaces below, see for yourself.

It won't pass. And in fact, by perpetuating this petition, you're just making it more apparent in the eyes of those who would try to do such a thing to increase their political standing again.

Well, if it will get the writers and producers on Voice Acting Alliance to post auditions for something other than second-tier anime fandubs, then I'm all for it.

In all seriousness, though, it won't pass this time either. Once the Internet catches wind of its revival, you can expect another wave of outcry, outrage, and outages in protest. Major sites will go dark again, copyright-owning companies will be staring down threats of boycotts, statements from those more knowledgeable than those who made the bill will be made, Congressmen will be bombarded with e-mails, phone calls, and letters. Once those who are in favor of the bill realize that they stand to lose their jobs come next voting season, they'll buckle and pull support.

SOPA doesn't stand a chance. Never has, never will.

Yea. But with the combined 216 of my vids and streams and other stuff on my YouTube, i could end up in prison for around 300 years.

And I have a strong doubt it will pass. Google woul lose everything with the overall shutdown of YouTube. Video games would lose subs, valve would collapse, everything would fall apart. And the government wants our Internet controlled? Talk to the 4 billion people who use YouTube. Then try again.

It would probably require youtube to go through and moderate all their videos rather than waiting for them to be reported for copyright.

I honestly think they need to stop trying. This is the third time that something like this has entered congress. Why won't they learn that they can't do this without consequences?

What consequences?

They receive large corporate 'sponsorship' for pushing through legislation. If it wasn't for other large entities on the other side to provide a counterpoint (ISPs wanting to maintain high traffic, google, etc) then this stuff would probably already be through.

Why doesn't the government see that almost every person in the U.S. has at one point done something like upload a copyrighted song to YouTube in a lyric video, or other stuff that would be illegal with SOPA? Throw all those people in jail? Then we end up paying $38,000 (last I knew it was that much, it might've changed) per person a year, causing our debt to go further and further than it already is! The government just doesn't think the laws they want to add through most of the time.
