I completely agree. That said, given the rate at which tattoo removal is becoming easier, I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 years they were cheap and easy to remove. In which case I'd probably get a Tā moko every time I had a holiday from work.

Not necessarily. Certain types of designs are possible to upkeep over time (you have to go back in and get things resharpened), and if you're like me and don't tan, they won't go leathery. They can age okay, just takes planning and effort.

And yes, my mum is pretty cool. She's also a pro musician with a band and has more tattoos/piercings than any of us, so really, she's way hipper than the young people in the family... d'oh.

Besides, most of the aged tattoos you see are military or prison tattoos, made with inferior tools, techniques, ink, and aftercare. If you want a tattoo to look good after a long time, you don't expose it to a lot of sunlight, and you keep it well moisturized throughout the healing process, and definitely do not pick at the scabs. Let them fall off on their own, because every time the scab forms, it pulls some ink away from the piece.

I've been thinking a lot about what I'd want in a tattoo lately, and I think I'd really like a Bulldrome facing off with a Kushala Daora, if I can find an artist that can do that well.

It was the first day of hunting, so I grabbed my Dad's bow and sighted myself in, in hopes of getting a deer. I saw one, but she was about 100 yards away from me. Still, nice to get out and enjoy the forest while it's still warm.

I always prefer my crossbow just using the iron sights.

Same with my .22 rifle shooting. In fact, at the club, that's the only way you're allowed to do it for the competitions.

I've honestly never shot a bow just using the iron sights. My Dad taught me with the scope, so that's what I use. Mind you, the deer I shot last year was only 15 feet away from me, I could have very easily used the iron sights. But, when you've got one that's 30 yards from you, the scope is definitely an added advantage for narrowing in on the heart and lungs.

Today I met up with some other March ‘13 Moms at an apple orchard and while we were cooling off in the shade this happened: Lorelai, K, E, and D were all sitting side by side for a photo when K notices E’s rattle is in reaching distance. She leans over and grabs it, and is just super happy with herself when E notices she has it. E grabs K’s face and shoves, taking her rattle back in the process. Meanwhile, my child is sitting there making the Blue Steel face, completely oblivious, until she becomes collateral damage.

That was my first thought, but the petals/sepals are too uniform. Orchids generally have a noticeable labellum, and a not insignificantly smaller amount of human anatomy replacing their rootstock.

My guess is a daffodil. One thing I know for certain, though, is that it sure looks cool!

The top half is kakashi, possibly one of the coolest anime characters out there, even if his chakra pool is the size of a puddle. (every bloody time he fights he does one cool attack and then cries that he doesn't have any more chakra. WTF?!?)

The bottom half of her costume is from Attack on Titian. One of the more intense animes. It pastime is introducing a character only to have them brutally killed in an instant the moment you come to like them. Basically letting you do this:
