Name: Victoria Vettish
AkA: Vicky, Vi, Tori, Vic
Age: appears 29
Race: Synthetic human
Hair Color: black
Eye Color: brownish
Height: 5 foot 4 inches
Weight: approx. 140
*Occupation: nothing yet

Appearance:
Ms. Vettish is a lithe, supple, and altogether cheerful presence whether it is in a bar with the guys or on a battlefield covered in blood and muck. She commonly wears a black leather cat-suit, form fitting, which offers no resistances to cold or heat but is waterproof. She has a cowl that covers her head for the majority of her time in the sun or to hide her face at night. Her boots are of the three inch, knee high affair, made of a thick leather covering her feet and a thin leather extending to her knee. Over her boots she wears her grieves and as well as a chest-piece for protection. A pair of gloves, belt, and two thigh holsters for her guns round out her wardrobe.

* Personality: (I don’t know how to define a person without writing them more in the setting so I will just go with general likes and dislikes yet to be associated with Althanas)

Likes – Stuff, all kinds of stuff, especially expensive or one-of-a-kind items; since money is necessary to get more stuff she doesn’t mind a pocket full of pretty gold coins; sweet red wines and dry white wines; causing trouble of course; doing things society doesn’t find common or generally acceptable; just the right amount of chaos and disorder.

Dislikes – A man in a uniform telling her what to do because he’s a man; for that matter most men in general; beer, ale, or anything like that; fishing, hunting, or outside ‘sports’ where she has to sit still forever and might not get anything out of it; nature in general, always enjoyed cities; promises to her being broken – though she’s mighty keen to break any she might give; getting dirty for no reason, or getting dirty as a whole.

Skills:

Martial Combat Skill – Vicky has spent a lot of time punching the good guys, using a choke-hold on an unsuspecting guard, or general MMA style ground submissions (and reversals) when caught telling a lie to the wrong people.

Marksmanship – She is pretty good at judging distance and lining up shots, as well as noting shifts in wind, the effects of altitude and humidity on a projectile, and other such factors. This has always given her an edge with guns in the past, but never quite translated too well the lower technology weapons (which she has little experience with).

Beat-stick – Victoria’s favorite method of cleaning up problems is with a good ‘ol fashion beat-stick. Sometimes it’s a broken chair leg, sometimes a stolen police talon, but most of the time is her trusty side-kick the shock baton. Anything heavy enough to crush bones and she is more than happy to wield it.

Subterfuge – It is probably the most prevalent and altogether important skill that she has. Stealth has gotten her out of more than a few pickles – most of which she got herself into by not being stealthy in the first place. Her knowledge of lock-picking, proper assassination – not that ‘use an axe and charge in screaming’ nonsense – as well as her ability to remember information as a spy has all come in handy many times over.

Tracking – following a blood trail through a dark alley, understanding the nature of cities to best get to a place before someone she’s following does without losing them, things like that – so long as she doesn’t have to get dirty or deal with nature – are what the city girl finds thrilling.

Abilities:
(She doesn’t cast magic but does have base attributes that may change slightly in the future.)

Strength – for her size, she is a deceivingly strong person. She can match most men’s strength that are about two times her stature (roughly 2x str).

Endurance – if nothing else works, she can take a beating no matter what form it comes in; interrogation, barroom brawls, or even weather (roughly 1.5x end).

*Items:

Shock-baton – the trusty beat-stick is her weapon of choice. The weapon is made of a light gray metal equivalent to iron, roughly a foot and a half long, and has a leather handle that allows it to be wielded like a tonfa. It holds a slight electric charge (equivalent to a slight electric shock, just enough to potentially numb an exposed limb or send a pretty discomforting warning when spread across a conductive surface such as a metal chestplate) that can be discharged against a target. A part of the flat surface of the weapon must forcefully come into contact with a target for the discharge to occur. It can only be used once every 20 minutes before it recharges (sunlight powers it and a battery stores the energy for use. Basically maybe twice in a battle, 20+ mins in a quest). Cannot be sold

Dual Pistols – Made of a sleek black metal, equivalent to iron. These are not the type of guns that you think of when you see the word pistol, I promise. They are actually attuned to the realm that they are present in, and once that realm is left behind become inert until they can reconfigure and adapt to the new land. Sometimes that means they could become useful within a month, sometimes it could take years. However, they never betray the continuity of the place that they are present in. As such, if Vicky has been on Earth for a long time they’ll take the form of bullet firing weapons, but if she was in a futuristic space-exploration society they might become laser pistols. Sometimes she likes to name them, different names if they take on different attributes, but never does so until she knows their personalities. (They don’t work, more or less, and when they do they’ll take on something akin to a magic ability since she is going to be an item-dependent character without magic of her own. All of this will be subject to future changes as they arise and moderator discretion). Cannot be sold, transferred to new person, stolen by anyone, or anything like that. If they aren't in Victoria's hands they aren't used. If I don't want them anymore they will be "left at her house or apartment".

Grieves – a pair of steel grieves that extend from the top of her boots to the knee cap.

Breastplate – an overlapping leather and steel chest-plate that rests on top of her leather cat-suit and covers the vitals.

Clothes – A full body leather cat-suit (black of course), black leather gloves, knee high black leather boots with a 3 inch platform bottom, dark grey cowl attached to a long gray cloak.

History:

Day by day time ticks by,
Watching the world with an immortal eye

Cruelty and benevolence hand in hand; that is the only way to describe the actions of an immaterial race whose lust for wisdom and knowledge led to the creation of Victoria. She was born of the void and released into the physical world at the behest of what she’s affectionately named the Dead Lords. Like others before and after her –or perhaps at the same time as her it’s hard to tell when ‘time’ is no longer a concept – she was created with the mission of exploration and gathering. Each creation – siblings to some degree – have their own hard-wired personal quirks which branch into as many different paths as can be imagined. Vicky’s is that she happens to find trouble at almost any turn, and fans the flames to turn embers of discontent into full scale global conflicts. Different races, in different times and places, all show their true colors and unique traits when faced with the prospect of change and potential harm.

The Dead Lords act as a hive mind with the synthetic humans they created. Whatever a creation experiences, no matter it physical or supernatural, they also experience and in turn absorb. With their forms being immaterial and unable to walk the different realm of the known and unknown universe they exist for the sole reason that they cannot die. It is through their avatars that they entertain themselves with the petty machinations of other races and worlds. It is through these proxies that they have found a new means of accruing knowledge they store within their limitless memory. Though the function of Victoria and her kind is to add to the hive mind, they do not have access to it and cannot gain knowledge from it. Likewise, when the Dead Lords decide that they have had their fill of one realm and pluck their charge from it to place them in another, the synthetic humans have very limited knowledge of previous worlds they were once on. The dimensional rift that pulls them from one place to another wipes knowledge that would otherwise harm another place, leaving them with very little of their past lives.

Having lived for countless years, in a multitude of different dimensions, and with the world but a toy she has learned that life isn’t so serious. Vic likes to play with other races. She has traversed planets with thriving post-industrial civilizations, walked Neolithic jungles with creatures destined to be higher intelligence given a million years, acted as a space-pirate, and thousands of other lives. However, it is the medieval and lower-technologically advanced cultures she enjoys the most. Luckily for her, Althanas is her new destination.

((Summary – She doesn’t use magic but uses items instead. She doesn’t like nature but loves cities. She’s never been in a fantasy world but once you have seen a blue alien with three heads and tentacles an ork can’t be all that bad. She learns basic knowledge of new worlds quickly. She causes trouble to observe the reactions of others so the overlords that created her, Dead Lords she calls them, can add it to their collective hive-mind knowledge.

As I understand it, there isn’t a specific place for new people to start or get aquainted with the world so just start anywhere, right?))

Two things, then you're set.

The power of the Shock-baton is a bit much. Electric current from a wall socket has enough amperage to kill a person given the right circumstances. Sure, it can also just give you a shock, but I can't really allow such a maybe as far as abilities go. Could we settle for a shock that can make a limb numb for a short while?

Also, I need to know what form exactly do the Dual Pistols take in Althanas at this point in timeline, where people mostly hit each other with magic and bows and swords and such. Keep in mind that, should they turn into something that fires magic, it would be considered an ability, just like the shock from the baton.

Oh, and I want you to make it so you can't sell either of your weapons. I guess that's three things.

Changed the shock baton to "equivalent to a slight electric shock, just enough to potentially numb an exposed limb or send a pretty discomforting warning when spread across a conductive surface such as a metal chestplate". I was not sure how to make something as potent as electricity low enough in danger potential to use. I figure that a piece of metal like armor would conduct it to cause pain, but numbing a non-armored opponent works for me.

The dual pistols are little more than pieces of pretty black metal right now. I suppose she could use them to pistol whip someone, but other than that they are useless until approved for use whenever that might occur. I was going to have one become able to shoot a fireball, just like a spell, that would be able to shoot every once in a while. No more than any other character could use their fire magic. The other might end up shooting a shard of ice or something similar but haven't really figured out what's going to happen with that one yet. Perhaps they will both shoot fire one day? I have to figure out how Althanas will affect them. As I said though, for now they are useless. I do know they won't be semi-automatic 9mm's, or anything unfair in that regards. They will not surpass the abilities of a normal mage, will most likely be much much less dangerous than a mage. The guns won't scale upwards in power the same way a mage's fireball would.

I noticed that it said that I can't have weapons with powers that upgrade with levels, is that still going to apply even with a character that can't use magic herself?

Given the fact that guns are technically just a conduit for discharging whatever magic or projectile you eventually decide on, I see no problem with allowing it, but with a few caveats. You cannot ever sell or give them to anyone and every ability they might acquire over the time will be treated as regular abilities. Meaning, just like with every ability, you can acquire it in your threads or add them at level up. That way, the guns are no different than any other ability a person can acquire. It makes no difference if you shoot a fireball from a gun or a finger, if you can't sell or pass that gun on. So yeah, just add that note to the guns and you're set to go.

I have added that they are only hers and nobody else can ever use them. Thank you for clarifying about the ability, because that was how I was assuming they would be used and wanted to make sure that it was not just going to be unavailable for that use because of that note I saw in the character creation guide. Sorry for the wait. You are approved. Thank you for your cooperation and welcome to Althanas.
