Talen shifted in his seat as he looked around. Normally Citadel battles took place in specially designed arenas but this one was different. The youth was sitting at one of many tables in a tavern. There were at least forty other patrons of all walks of life sitting, yelling and drinking. Most were not real, simple magic projections from the monks. Dangerous enough for sure, but lacked the experience and intelligence of an experienced fighter. How many real people were in the tavern only the monks would know. There were at least five that looked out of place and dressed for battle, but given that many fighters entered the Citadel directly from a tavern it hard to be definitive.
The youth shifted his sword so it was resting between his legs and tried to look casual as he swirled a mug of ale. Talen had taken the form of his twenty year-old self. He was tall and lean, with pale skin and shaggy black hair. The boy sported a black t-shirt and simple pants.
Talen had asked for a setting for a brawler on purpose. He was here to test the a new recruit for the Red Six. The setting was slightly more complicated than he had envisioned, but perhaps prove a better test. Talen's thoughts were cut off as a cough resonated through the tavern. In the centre a large counter served as a bar and a small man with a bald head was standing on it. Despite being dressed as civilian cloths he was undoubtedly a monk.
“Greetings patrons! In a few short moments this brawl will begin!” A few shouts and jeers went up. “We are just waiting for the last few people to arrive, so enjoy the your drink!”
