I cut my fantasy teeth on the Belgariad, fantastic world he created. Zedar is one of the best written conflicted characters I've read. The ending, where Zedar tries to maintain some sort of respect from Belgarath by pointing out his (Zedar's) action had been necessary to reinstate the new god, and then Belgarath burring him alive for all eternity in the stone for killing their brother, amazing.
Best game ever created-Diablo III
Would you go that far? Better than the quintessential genre setters? I don't think D3 met the same level as D2 in terms of improvement. I'd say Starcraft, Diablo 2, Red Alert, Deus Ex, Half-Life and Total Annihilation were all breakthroughs in their own right.

I'm curious as to why you say Speaker for the Dead is the worst book you've ever read.

I'm curious as to why you say Speaker for the Dead is the worst book you've ever read.Because Ender's Game managed to be free of most of Card's political nonesense. Speaker for the Dead is chalk full of his views. It's almost like he wants his work to ascend into religion canon like L. Ron Hubbard. After Ender's Game, the books sucked until Ender's Shadow, which was a pleasant departure from Card's previous garbage.

I'll definitely agree with you there Max, in regards to Speaker and how it was saturated with Card's views (I find myself unable to look behind the words to see the author's meaning very often, and even I was like "Yeah, okay, I get it" with Speaker). I was just curious as to why Erik chose to highlight Speaker for the Dead while Xenocide is sitting right there, doing and saying absolutely nothing of value, like a kid eating the very glue that keeps its pages bound together.
Also, I think it's way too soon to call Diablo 3 the best game ever. Revisit it in a couple years to see if your opinion still stands.
For me, best game ever is a three-way tie: Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Pokemon Crystal.

Lol! I thought I was the only person in the world who liked Yoshi's Island. Solid choice!

It's a top-notch platformer with a perfect difficulty curve and all, but it's all about dat art style.
For favorite book of all-time, I agree with your choice of David Eddings but I don't think the books distinguish themselves from one another enough for me to consider one better than the others (and this isn't a bad thing). This goes for the Belgariad as well as the Malloreon - it all blends together and it's all delicious.
Best game ever created is difficult to answer because I like games all over the map and they're hard to compare to one another. Gun held to head, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. But some others like Mario Bros 3, Civilization II and Fire Emblem all deserve an honorable mention. For semi-recent games, I'd probably go with Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Last book I read was the third one in the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. Forget which one that was. I really don't read books anymore, though.
The worst book I've ever read was a 99 cent dirty romance novel some lady put in an ebook store. I was like "yeah, I want me some steamy time traveling!" but nope, it was awful. I should have known better. I've learned my lesson.
Best poem: The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot. Modern poetry ruined my GPA and I still haven't quite forgiven it, but this one is damned good. "Do I dare / Disturb the universe?"

Favorite Book: Right now Tuff Voyaging, but I'm not sure I'd call it my favorite-of-all-time. The only book I've read all the way through and then immediately REread all the way through is Grettir's Saga, so maybe that?
Poems: Pfft, poems. Poems are for Poes.
Best Series: A Song of Ice and Fire. There is no room for discussion here.
Favorite Character: I dunno. Bloodrose never failed to please me, as a character. I could read about his shenanigans all day. Sagequeen's dragon lady was pretty badass. Resolve amuses me. No, favorite is probably Caden Law, his adventures are, in my opinion, the most entertaining on Althanas.
Best Person On Earth: Dude Sei doesn't even like Grand Theft Auto, he might be a contender for THE WORST HUMAN. Anyway, best person on Earth is Henry Rollins, or alternately any character played by Stephen Lang in the last five to ten years. If fictional Stephen Lang and actual Henry Rollins raised an army, I would join them and follow them blindly. I would throw babies for them.
Best Game Ever Created: Dude. I love Diablo III but no, there are so many miracles out there. Planescape: Torment ranks pretty high. I'd put Soul Reaver up there, just for aesthetics and narrative strength. Starcraft 2, maybe. You could even make an argument for World of Warcraft. Baldur's Gate 2? Hmmm. We need to narrow this down and define "best." Most influential is not the same as best made, or most likely to change your life, or best overall experience. Obviously the idea is for this to be subjective, but we're getting TOO subjective.
Worst Book: I don't really have the patience to read bad books. I barely made it through Ender's Game and I will begrudgingly admit that that is a good book, so can you imagine me trying to tolerate a BAD OSC book?
Last Book: Kill City Blues. Aur, if you read this, you should pick up the Sandman Slim books. You'd like them.
Favorite Character: Oh god. I wrote a character for a game of Unknown Armies one of my buddies is running right now. I kinda stumbled onto him, but he's probably the most compelling character I've ever created. If I ever write a book, the first one will probably be about him.
Best WoW Patch: Whatever the latest patch is, until the next one comes out.
Best WoW Character: Garrosh. Seriously. No room for discussion here, either.

How could I forget Chrono Trigger! Now there was an epic. So many layers, just like an ogre.

That scene where you revive Chrono, and Marle tackles him with a hug and doesn't let go?
Right in the feels, man.

How about when you convince Frog to let go his ancient hate and he goes back to being human again after years as Frog?
