i am building up a MASSIVE playlist and i can't think of any other songs or artists to incorporate in to it.

so feel free to post below what you listen to and eventually i will make a massive edit and add all the songs on the list

(Imagine Massive list here)

Artists:

I generally go with a theme and chuck on a few songs.

At the moment its pretty chilled listening:

FKA twigs - Water Me
DyE - Fantasy
Touch Sensitive - Pizza Guy
Vance Joy - Riptide
Andy Bull - Baby I Am Nobody Now
Professor Elemental - So Long Sally
Smith Street Band - Young Drunk (very Aussie, you have been warned)

A week-ish ago it was:
Bloc party - Ratchet
Suburban Dark ft. Jeswon - Skeletonne
with some Knife Party and Skrillex

I find that I can never go wrong with any Silversun Pickups or The Hives when I write.

But when I need to sit down and focus on writing, I tend to turn on an Internet radio station. Arecibo Radio (http://areciboradio.com/) and Radio Rivendell (https://www.radiorivendell.com/) are the two I go to the most.

I don't know what a Skillet is. It sounds like something you would call someone mockingly. What up home skillet.

Anyway, I will listen to literally almost anything with a strong beat. I was recently in the car with a friend and couldn't connect to Pandora for whatever reason, so I put my phone on shuffle. I think it went from like...Immortal or I to Sleigh Bells to "Terraforming" off the Man of Steel soundtrack to Danzig to Skrillex to Lady Gaga. Or Lykke Li? One of the two, possibly both, probably not in that order. It was round about "Kids" by Sleigh Bells that she gave me a weird look and said "You have an...eclectic...taste in music." It didn't sound like a compliment.

I have a Pandora station built around Lords of Acid. I typically listen to that when I'm writing. One of my favorite scenes I've ever written was written to "Breath of Life" by Florence and the Machine. If I'm not feeling very interested in fantasy I'll listen to The Sword or Amon Amarth. If I'm writing something exciting but not violent, Nico Vega, but if I'm writing a particularly intense scene (a chase?), Dunderpatrullen. Need to get in a Flint-y mindset? Black Label Society. Marcus? Sahg. To get me into the down-home mindset for my latest thread with Luned, I've been listening to Christian Kane.

I will listen. to. *anything. Luned even got me to listen to that Mackelmore guy and I liked it.

*(Except Skillet, Five Finger Death Punch, or Fall out Boy. I shake my head at you)

If I listen to music when I try to write, I get distracted and don't write very much, but when I do listen to music while writing I listen to the afters, casting crowns, Brandon Heath, John Reuben, Family Force Five, Rapture Ruckus, FM Static, Reliant K, and Matthew West

I hear that. With the exception of smooth jazz, turning on music when I'm trying to write is just a surefire way to get nowhere. For smooth jazz, I honestly don't know many artists - I just turn on the smooth jazz channel and turn my attention elsewhere. Good background music.

My favorite genre is rock, though, venturing into the fringes of metal occasionally. Sevendust, Silent Season, Silvergun, Eye Empire, Aranda, and Ra are some names. Gemini Syndrome is one that I just found out about, their new album sounds good from what I've heard. Skindred for something a little bit different. Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Volbeat. But like I said, I can't listen to most of this while writing or I just end up listening to the music, lol.

I'm more surprised you hate those three than Limp Bizkit. I figured of all the ones to shake your head at I'd get razzed over that!

I'm not sure why it's so entertaining to see what music I have in common with whom. I don't listen to a lot of music while writing because I get hopelessly distracted by stuff I really like, but I have a couple go to playlists if I'm struggling to get in the mindset:

Silversun Pickups, Queens of the Stoneage, Dandy Warhols, and Modest Mouse populate my chill background music list.

If I need to feel all STRONG FEMALE LEAD I go with Regina Spektor, Bat for Lashes, Metric, Gracious Calamity, and freakin' Janelle Monae (the booty don't lie).

If I need to get a certain feel, I put on soundtrack scores, which works pretty well because they all have different personalities. I'm not going to list those because I'd never stop. I listen to a lot of other stuff (I also have gotten the "eclectic" diss, Warpath), but most of it is too distracting to write to.

Some other strong female-fronted bands are Firefight (Dawn's voice is like a powerhouse! X_X Just listen to "Stay Close"!) The Letter Black (if you're looking for female singers who scream off and on too) and Flyleaf (Lacey just left the band last year, but Kristen is an excellent replacement)

Not sure the band who sings it, or the real title of the song, but the opening song to the anime Toriko is so metal, it makes my head explode every time I listen to it.

Are we talking about the Japanese opening? I just youtube, not sure what you are going on about :p

Deadman Wonderland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1mPyR7EIG8) opening on the other hand.

I should get back into that. It was surprisingly full on. Classroom of kids exploded, main character wakes up surrounded by the blood of his friends and looking into the decapitated head of his female friend. Ep 1 bitches.

The Misfits are in town tonight so I've been listening to them to get jazzed up in case I have time to go after my other plans. They've made a surprisingly good soundtrack for Cell writing. A couple recs:
