Ahh, forgive me, I misspoke. I don't want anyone bunnying Josh's specific actions. If you want to take damage from his sword during the collision that's fine, it'd make sense because because it was between them when they were slammed together, and my post will reflect that. But I need full control of my character in the massive amount of IC time that has passed since my last post.

edit: when I said "I don't want anybody else bunnying Josh" what I meant to say was "I don't want anybody else controlling Josh." I find it difficult to maintain pacing in free-for-all battles if my character does things that don't happen during my post, so I'm unlikely to allow anyone bunnying permissions unless we get down to a 1v1 situation.

edit again: if you've already written your post just go ahead and post it so you don't miss your time... I'll either accept your permission to finish Herald off (can we just call him Harold?) or else I'll request a small edit. No big deal.

I'd like to point out that Herald of the Tempest posted a few minutes before the official opening of 12:01 CST in Emma without a warning or anything. If that sort of thing passes, this should!

Okay, I don't want to ask you to remove the whole lower section of your post, so I'm going to request only two things.

You specified that Vyrabond was "impaled" on Cronen's sword, which is not possible because he would have been holding it laterally between them (so Vyrabond would have smashed onto the edge of the blade, not the point). All I'm asking is that you make that adjustment, removing the idea of him being impaled on the sword and then sliding off (because I can't justify Josh standing still and doing nothing all that time). You can still take the same traumatic damage to the chest area, and if you wait till after my post (it probably won't be up for a couple hours) I will set Jensen up for the 3-D finisher.

If you want to post sooner than that, then just ignore Josh following the collision and I'm sure Jensen can find a cool way to smash Harold through that table on his own.

So, the only thing that really needs to go is the part about Josh standing there, holding Vyrabond on his sword. Josh will be knocked over by the impact from Sei's bully, and the sword was sideways between them, so that bit doesn't make any sense.

edit: On second thought, I need to work on my post right now and I can't keep monitoring this thread. I'm going to write and post based on the assumption that you will remove the parts I've requested, and I'm going to say no 3-D for now. I'm sure we can set someone up for that later on, but it'd make absolutely no sense with the headspace Josh is in right now.

So to clarify: please modify your post to reflect the fact that Vyrabond hit the edge of the sword, not the point, and please remove all instances of controlling my character's actions. I'm pretty sure that's not a big change.

Is the fight taking place on top of the tower? You said the barrier extends beyond it, does that mean we can fight a level down, or is it some weird oblong barrier that covers the ground of the top floor and then wraps around the tower to the ground?

If we can fight a level down, what does it look like? How far down can we fight?

So the total area is 25x25 feet on top? From mythical mile long mess halls to a crawlspace. So basically every AOE attack will affect all competitors?

Since the barrier extends beyond it, can I assume that the tower is scalable/climbable?

edit: How far beyond the tower on the ground does the barrier extend? Is it just dirt ground? Is the barrier above or below the ground?

I already specified this ICly and clarified with an OOC note, but I guess that wasn't enough. Josh is standing on the parapet opposite Astarelle. That means diagonally across the square from her, literally as far away as he can get without falling off the tower. I'm not sure why recent posts are attempting to imply he's standing in a group with Arden and Astarelle, but I didn't write anything that would place him anywhere near them. It makes no difference to me whether those posts are edited, just wanted to clarify his actual position for anyone confused by recent references to him being in different places.

Having a bit of a hard time understanding what Breaker did in the arena. Correct me if I'm wrong but Breaker basically has made a large loop around 3 people and wants pull people into the wall/over it?

He made a loop along three walls of the arena using the parapets as anchor points, pulled it tight, and then plunged off the wall using his weight to draw the cable rapidly across the arena. The speed would make it more like a blow than a pull, but yeah, you have the idea almost exactly. From an IC standpoint his aim was to hit everyone with the cable, but since positions weren't clearly articulated I couldn't find a way to set that up properly.

For purely informational purposes, it's like a high-tension cable swung across the arena at approximately chest height. Whether it hits anyone or exactly how it impacts them (whether it knocks them over, pulls them into the wall, clotheslines them over the parapets) is up to them individually.

Ok, thank you for clearing it up. I'm new here but I really enjoyed reading through the different arena battles. Great writing and I hope I can improve my writing to get on the level I see displayed here.

You should try a Citadel battle! Our style of combat RP can be confusing at first (it made little sense to me when I first joined ages ago, I wanted to write entire battles in one post) but once you get a feel for fighting another character in a play-by-post setting, it's like a literary chess match. My favorite thing about the Cell (or any free-for-all) is the way it allows us to set up grouped attacks. There's about 10,000 things Josh could have done that would have been easier to describe and deadlier, but the actions of the other combatants created an opening for the cable-clothesline and Josh is an opportunist. From an OOC perspective I know it isn't likely to work because it's early in the fight and there's multiple paths to evasion, but from an IC perspective the chance of sweeping 3-5 opponents off the tower with a single attack would be too tempting to pass up.

But seriously, you should set up a Citadel battle. I would love to see those little golem-chilluns hamstring someone.

Yo Abom, its Talen's Crow ability, that can create shadow (ie black) illusions for six posts up to the size of a double story house. The illusions were just creating to mask Jensen's movements with a flurry of similar shapes, so three fists rather than one, exactly how that works is up to you guys. It could just move around him, creating distorted movement, could create images before and after each movement *Shrug*

If EI wants to have it disappear sooner because you're far away from Talen now, thats also fine.

Hmm, I've never considered making static ones. I've always RPed them as moving, often changing form or doing various things. In the first cell I made those waves (although I died shortly after...). I've actually done the same thing that I've done to Jensen to Talen a few times as well. Usefully when Talen doesn't have any real ranged attacks :p

To clear up the confusion I grabbed the description of EI's maul straight from his profile.


Crozius: A Dehlar Master crafted maul that is the length of an average human arm, with a red leather grip and a bronzed Heraldric Cross at the tip inscribed with passages from the Tome of War, the weapon is enchanted to increase the Strength of the user by 5X their normal capacity. Usually in the care of Jensen's friend Adolph Gretzle, the weapon has been known to be used by Jensen himself.

It's a strength enhancement, and I'm fairly certain it's a "+5", but the difference is sort of moot since the way Hysteria expresses his character's change in strength is really what matters. I've been pretty surprised by the ease with which Abomination made holes in granite walls, also didn't think anyone would have the strength to just tear up a 200kg parapet. But that's cool - I'm probably the least familiar with Ixian Castle. I'm having fun, and the crazy attacks get the craziest counters :D

Also note that during his trapeze act, Cronen's weight was always distributed across at least two suspension points. Although he anchored the line to a single parapet, it was braced along a second part of the wall or parapet each time he dropped.

Good points... I stuck with +5, but as for the piece of wall i took some liberties. I assumed that the wall piece wasn't built into the structure, rather sitting on top. This would still allow for structural integrity if being struck by a rock as the force would be down and back, where as the force Talen did was up and back, pulling it out of its position. Given that everyone has talked about the stones being old and worn, any mortar used (if at all) could have been weakened. In hindsight i probably should have included that in my post... but its a bit dry.

As for strength of Talen, I think it equates to around 28kg being thrown per 1 'person' of strength. Not exactly scientific, but I reckon it still falls somewhere between plausible and realistic. :p

Lastly, because I couldn't find a picture small enough of Molly Quinn to fit in this post, and I've been talking mostly about things I don't know about:

The hook on the end of Astarelle's rope is still tight against the cable, and given the description of how Talen took the cable from her, I'd say that she's only a few feet from the connection point of the two. So, if stuff goes over and Breaker becomes the low point of this system before I post next... Astarelle will be zip-lining right into his face.

Though, on the matter of the collapse itself... If this tower falls over sideways, I assume it'll smack against the barrier, which I imagine as a silo-shape slightly larger than the tower. We won't get a proper topple, and it might even hold for a moment before the lack of support makes it crumble straight down. Of course, it might just crumble straight down without leaning. It's up to whoever describes it first. I'm just pointing out that we have options. =)

It would probably fall like a Jenga tower under a dome; if it falls to the side, the barrier would support it until enough weight shifts to make the lean give way, if it tumbles outwards, it would hit the barrier and probably make some debris 'tidal wave' back, as it were, and if it wre to crumble straight down, the pieces would probably just slam against the barrier and now you'd be fighting on a ginormous piece of tower pieces.

So yeah, options.
