Reine

Level Two updates done in PURPLE!

Name: Faelynn ‘Reine’ Thiadore
Age: 18
Sex: Female
Race: Human
Height: 5’3
Weight: 117 lbs
Hair Colour: Dark Brown
Eye Colour: Golden Green
Occupation: Professional Thief

Appearance: Reine is somewhere between slight and busty. She’s got the curves, but right now she lacks any real skill in how to use them. Her skin is neither pale white or tanned, but somewhere in between, though she loves taking jobs in Fallien to darken the look of her skin. She thinks it makes her exotic and more attractive, she may not be wrong either. For the most part though, while Reine can be called pretty, attractive, even beautiful in the eyes of some people, she doesn’t overly stand out unless she wants to. She’s above average in looks, but not so much so that it would make her too noticeable. Her eyes may be one of her most memorable trait. Being a golden green, most people find them absolutely entrancing. She also has a few scars from her various life experiences, but her most notable is a birthmark on her right shoulder blade. It’s a section of skin that is darker in colour than the rest and slightly bumpy in texture. It has no discernable shape.

Working – Reine prefers to keep things simple, functional and maybe a little flashy when she’s out on the job. After all, she’s got to look good for anyone that catches her. Like most thieves she tends to wear black, it allows her to blend into the shadows. As for the look of her clothes themselves, well, she wears a pair of shorts, a jacket and a pair of just above the knee boots. To keep her identity a secret, she wears no mask, but she does wear a heavy amount of black and purple makeup around her eyes; the design of which looks almost like a wing. She also ties her hair up into two pig tails to keep it away from her eyes.

Travelling – When she’s out in the real world, Reine likes to wear some interesting clothes. She loves foreign clothes from Akashima, Fallien and even occasionally from Raiaera. She’s been mistaken for an Elf a few times, but does little to correct people’s assumptions and instead plays off of them. Her hair is usually kept down and she wears a minimal amount of makeup, if at all. So, it wouldn’t be too strange to see her walking around in a Kimono, or some rather flowing, colourful and perhaps even revealing clothes from Fallien.

Personality: Reine doesn’t look like your average thief, nor does she act like your average thief. In fact she acts as everyone would almost expect her to act, like a teenager. All the world is a stage, and she’s standing at the centre of it, at least in her mind. Or, perhaps she considers the world her own personal sandbox. Whatever the case may be, Reine loves life, loves living it and lives it the best she can. She works hard and parties even harder. She’s self centered and thinks nothing could ever kill her. Reine loves teasing others, especially men, and enjoys the chase, and by chase she loves playing the mouse in a game of cat and mouse; mainly because despite her immaturity she always outwits those chasing her. When she’s on a job though, she takes it seriously and gets the job done well, one of the reasons why she has so many jobs.

Weapons:

Amalia: A spear specifically made and designed for Reine by her brother, Ferynn. It’s five feet and seven inches long and enchanted by a close friend of Ferynn’s. It can fold in to be exactly two feet in length and fit perfectly on her back in a leather sheath he designed specifically made for the weapon. The end of it is a traditional looking spear tip that’s six inches long, however it also has two wings expanding out at the base of the spear tip acting as a guard. There are also two small one inch spikes towards the end of the spear used as a guard. Made of Delyn.

Equipment:

The Iron Shackles – A pair of black leather boots lined with Vlince and Iron. Her brother acquired them from a fellow Blacksmith who had no use for them. Turns out they’re a symbiotic pair of boots and will only bond to certain people. Reine saw them in her brother’s room and tried them on, and wouldn’t ya know it, they liked her! He gave them to her with reluctance, a lot of fighting, a few broken objects and some bruises. The boots work off their host’s energy and can sustain whatever function given to them as long as the host has energy left.

Right now, the boots allow Reine to:

- Walk on water
- Jump up to 7 feet in the air, then push off the air like it’s solid ground and propel herself another 7 feet up. She can now do this 3 consecutive times.
- On command, The Iron Shackles can form a series of Iron spikes around the toes and knee.

Steel Bangles: Given to her as a present by her brother Ferynn and their mutual friend Connaire (who enchanted the darn things) these bangles were supposed to turn into liquid metal upon command. Instead, the enchantment went wrong somewhere upon the line and they turn Faelynn insubstantial for roughly ten seconds when activated. In this state, she can’t really interact with anything around her, but she can still keep a hold of whatever was already upon her person when they were activated. Other objects will pass right through.

Items: First aid kit, two water skins, a note pad and various pens, inks and pencils, sewing kit oh, and a modest house and everything you normally find in a house in Radasanth’s middle class, you know, not to arouse suspicions and all. Coins – these are made of silver by her brother, have four small holes in the centre and have the name ‘Reine’ etched into them. She leaves them at the site of her thefts.

The Infinity Bag: This is a small enchanted bag that never exceeds the weight of ten pounds no matter what is put inside of it. It can also fit things within it that are physically not able to under normal circumstances; however the inside of the bag is similar to a dimensional pocket. It can hold whatever she wants it to and allow easy transport and carry of large items that she needs to steal.

Skills:

Acrobatics: Any thief worth their daggers should be good at spinning and twisting their bodies around and Reine is no different. She’s been practicing acrobatics since she was young and her flexibility allows her to perform things that would otherwise to quite painful to anyone else. She an Expert in the art of this skill. She’s also an excellent climber and can scale almost anything.

Pole Arms: Reine grew up with a master blacksmith as a father who worked from home. As such, her brother and she constantly took items from his work shop without permission. Using a variety of weapons, Reine become quite interested in Pole Arms and quite good at them. Years of experience and some professional training later, Reine is now Advanced in the use of Pole Arms.

Brawling: To say the least, Reine has an older brother and hung out with a lot of boys growing up, so she learned a thing or two. She’s far from being a powerhouse but she’s fast, small and agile, making her hard to hit, while she’s landing less powerful, but more, blows. She doesn’t enjoy brawling too much, but she’d needed it a few times in her past, so it’s something she keeps practicing at. She’s currently Advanced.

Lock picking: Jared allowed Reine to borrow his lock picking kit and she’s been practicing with it daily. She’s never been much for picking locks. She’s a scale the wall and find the conveniently unlocked window kind of girl, but as a thief, she really should know how to pick ‘em. She can crack a rather basic lock in a few moments, but anything above that takes much longer or are too complicated for her right now. Her skill is Average.

Stealth: One thing Reine has been practicing a lot lately, thanks to her recent thieving endeavours and general life experience, is her stealth. She’s good at walking around the house without making a sound nd somehow knows just how to avoid that creaking floorboard. She’s no ninja, yet, but she’s definitely got a leg up on the average human. Her skills at sneaking at Above Average.

Abilities:

Speed: Speed is one of the greatest assets a thief can possess, as well as cunning and creativity. Reine has worked on her speed increasingly and is at this point 3x that of the average human.

Reflexes and Agility: Even growing up, Reine had really good reflexes. Over the years of training, the times almost getting caught and her few flee attempts, Reine’s reflexes and agility have only grown. They’re 3x that of the average human, allowing her to react without even thinking at this point.

Magic:

Flashbang: This magic does as the names suggests. It releases all of its power at one time that creates a blindingly bright white light, followed by a bang of sorts. It causes temporary blindness and those annoying black spots in the eyes for a couple minutes afterwards. It also causes temporary deafness and can affect the equilibrium as well. The effects of flash bang last for roughly 30 seconds, though those damn annoying spots do tend to take a minute or two to completely go away.

Decoy: Usually used in conjunction with Flashbang, though it is effective on its own as well. Decoy creates a duplicate of Reine in whatever form she imagines when she uses it. Yes, she’s used it to mock quite a few of those chasing her. The duplicate can withstand two striking blows before it explodes like a balloon. The Reine decoy can now talk and she can create up to two of them at once or one right after the other before she needs a recharge.

Ice Manipulation: This form of magic is relatively new to Reine and something she picked up under the advisement that she knows at least one offensive form of magic. Right now she cannot do much with her ice magic, but she can excite the moisture in the air to create a heavy fog and to put a coating of ice along the ground six feet long and two foot wide. Sadly she’s only made one offensive form of this magic and that’s the ability to form up to five, small ice spikes roughly 4 inches long and half an inch wide. They can’t kill, but when hurled at an enemy they do tend to hurt a lot.

History: So you wanna know about my history, huh? Well, it was pretty normal if you ask me. I grew up in the small town of Underwood, you know that community hidden away within Concordia? Yeah, right in there. It’s a nice place, quiet and peaceful sometimes too. Most people don’t think I’d like small, quiet towns considering how much I love Radasanth, but I think you have to grow up in one to truly appreciate them. I still go back regularly so I can relax and see my mom and pop. Oh, but now I’m getting off track.

Like I mentioned earlier, my life was pretty normal growing up. No one slaughtered my entire village, burning it to the ground and forcing me to seek out revenge as the meaning for my life. Instead, I grew up with a Master Blacksmith as a father and a Seamstress as a mother. Good parents if you ask me, raised Ferynn—my two years older brother—and myself rather well. Ferynn, as the oldest and well the ‘man’ and all that, was expected to take after pop and go into the Blacksmith business. He did and he loves it. Oddly enough, no one had any expectations for me growing up. That may seem kind of depressing, but I thought it was fine. I was left to my own machinations and could do whatever I want, probably why I turned out like this.

Anyway, my life growing up centred on my family and my friends. Ferynn and I used to raid our dad’s workshop when we were young, take the weapons out of it and battle each other. Sometimes he’d get rather mad at us for denting the blades of them. Eventually, he learned to lock the door so we couldn’t do it anymore. While we did have access though, I became quite taken with using pole arms, spears and halberds in particular, so pop eventually made me a practice one I could play with, without accidentally killing Ferynn in the process. Luckily for me Underwood is a town that people tend to travel though, and by people I mean adventurers, travellers, warriors, you know, people that know how to use weapons. A few of them tend to stay for a bit too, weeks, months, one guy even stayed for a year, though I think he had something for one of the barmaids. But those guys, they were the ones I took lessons from and pop paid them a reasonable amount to keep me out of trouble and give me some discipline.

I didn’t want to be a warrior or an adventurer though, it didn’t appeal to me. I enjoyed something else, something I’d gotten in a fair bit of trouble for doing when I’d get caught; stealing. I started at home; stealing things from pop’s workshop and putting it back when I was done, all without him ever noticing...for the most part. Then I moved on to stall and small shops, stealing little things. Rings, necklaces, apples, just small stuff for the most part that I could eat or hide. I ended up making a small stash for myself, things I could sell once I left Underwood and went to Radasanth. I got a fair amount of money from them too, something that helped me out before I could make a name for myself.

Oops, I’m getting a little ahead of myself. Well, when I turned sixteen, I decided it was time for me to leave Underwood and head over to Radasanth, where I could turn my petty thieving into professional thieving. I didn’t want to be some kind of pickpocket; I wanted to steal from those large houses, filled with wonderful treasures. So, I used my real name as a contact and then when I started getting small jobs offerings, I turned myself into Reine—which is pronounced Rain if you’re wondering—to keep my real identity, life and family safe and a secret. Eventually, as I got better and took on more jobs, the name Reine become well known to those in certain circles and I began making more money. I’m a high-end thief now, it costs a lot for my services, but I’ll take on jobs that most people won’t, so they come with a deeper sense of danger and a much larger chance of being caught.

Level 2

Well, some interesting things have certainly happened to me in the last few months. Yeah, just a few months. I think if I had to count them it would probably only be two maybe three, but who counts? I went to Fallien and took on a job from The Cult (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?18955-To-catch-a-thief), nothing special really. Just placing some bead on a kite. Some good Samaritan happened to see me breaking in though and took it upon himself to capture me. Well, after a bit of a scuffle and a dagger going into my chest, I was able to flee. Why didn’t I die, you ask? Well, my brother gave me a present for my birthday the day before, bangles, steel ones. They are enchanted, but Connaire screwed up the enchanted, surprise of surprises. It saved my life though. It turned me to the consistency of water for a brief moment and the dagger went in and went out, doing no damage at all.

Our interaction together did not end there either. Eric (yeah, the good Samaritan is named Eric Anglekos, quite the little cutie too if you ask me), hunted me down and discovered my true identity (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?19054-Can-you-catch-the-rain), then instead of turning me over to the guards, he started kissing me! One thing led to another and right before we actually, well…you know, he calls me by the name of his dead fiance. Yeah, I kicked his ass out of the room and haven’t seen him since. Don’t want to either.

After that, I went back to Radasanth, having had enough of Fallien for the time. Couldn’t even catch a break on home turf either!. I was attacked by a group of thieves (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?18989-Safer-waters) for poaching on their territory and they really wanted to teach me a lesson for it. Pathetic to admit it, but they really were kicking my ass in, until another thief named Jared Cesarino came to the rescue. Did someone order a knight in shining armour? Too bad, you ended up with a red-headed thief that‘s got some serious attitude. He took care of them and then carried me back to his hideout with another man named Hawk.

Yes, THE Hawk, aka Garret Brown. Seth Dahlios’ buddy from way back in the day. Honestly, I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard his name. Making a long story short, they took care of me for the night and Garret, well, he told me if I ever wanted to, I should drop by Lavinya some time, check out the thief’s guild there. Didn’t really think much of it at the time, but you know how life takes strange turns of events.

I decided to take one myself. I needed a break from Radasanth, so I headed off to Dheathain. (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?19058-Chase-the-Rain) Somehow I managed o convince Jared to tag along with me. Well, it wasn’t really that hard. Shake of my almost non-existent hips and a couple well placed words and BAM! He was all mine.

Dheathain did not go as I planned it though. I wanted to visit this cute little Synthesis Shop and get something made for myself, but I never got to finish gathering all the items. I got a letter from my mom. She must have sent it literally right after I left in order for me to get it so fast. Ferynn, my brother, had an accident while working the forge and they weren’t sure if he was going to make it. Needless to say, I said my goodbyes to Jared Cesarino and packed it off back home.

You're one ability over your level's limit, which is nine total (the enchantments on your items count as abilities with the current rules). Please remove one. I would also appreciate it if you could define "rapid speeds" re: the boots? If it is anything over what gravity would normally manage on its own, it may also count as another ability. And as the bangles are a new item, I need a link to source how you got them.

Ugh, I can't believe enchantments actually count as abilities.

Okay, if I remove the fact that the Iron Shackles can form those lovely spikes and take out the rapid speeds, will she be good to go?

I actually didn't count the rapid speeds as an ability yet because I didn't have enough information, it's an ability if "rapid speeds" means anything more than gravity would accomplish on its own (and at that point you'd be two over). The spikes don't count, as I considered them a physical part of the boots rather than the equivalent of an ability. Sorry, go fish!

Okay, I got rid of the fact that the boots can propel her down at rapid speeds and took out the added bonus to her speed. I did not add in extra speed bonus to her normal abilities, however.
