Hello everyone.

For October, Macmillan Cancer Research have launched Go Sober for October campaign. In essence, people are raising money by not drinking alcohol for the entire period. I am eight days in as of tomorrow (I started a day early to go out on Halloween).

I know it's a lot to ask, but encouragement but be welcomed, and donations, however small, will help the 700,000 pound total that's already been achieved!

My granddad has been diagnosed, and successfully treated for cancer three times. He is currently undergoing tests for a lump in his stomach, potentially a fourth bout (but still going strong!) Coupled with a long, difficult relationship with drinking, this is as much a challenge for me as it is about fundraising. However much you can spare, it will all go towards an entirely worthy cause. Plus, if I sober up for a week or two, I might write some more .

Not that I'm blackmailing people I owe posts to or anything...

Anyway, donations can be made here (https://www.gosober.org.uk/profile/cydneyoliver), Golden Tickets greatly appreciated, but not required. (A golden ticket gives one night off!)

Hmm. I don't drink, i smoke, but that's a habit that is less dangerous. Not much. But ill donate for the cause, and hope that new treatments don't make you lose most of your hair.

Also, keep it up Mord! You know all of us can help!

Good on you, cutter.

If I wasn't utterly skint, I'd offer jink, but as it stands all I can offer is respect, and moral support. I've got a long history of alcoholism and cancer in my family too, so I know where you're coming from. In fact, my aunt's just beat her second bout last year, narrowly avoiding a mammorectomy. And she too has a lump currently being checked out.

So, on behalf of her, and any other person in my family that's at high risk of getting it (my Gran, the human chimney springs to mind), thank you.
