Enter Uriah Smith: a middle aged human and proprietor of a small antique and curio shoppe. He lives above the shop which he acquired some time ago, spending his life savings and trading the thrills of adventure for a quiet life of peace and solitude.

Uriah woke early, as usual, and went about setting up shop. This was his favorite part of the day, years of running the shop had made going over everything before opening into a meditative ritual.

As Uriah neared the end of his routine his eyes fell on the glass orb he had recently acquired.
The orb sat on a stone base, containing a small figure lying against a tree as if asleep. The tree was in a perpetual state of autumn, with leaves falling off and changing color as they drifted to the base and then disappeared. the figure lying against the tree was blue skinned with brown hair. A mage, or so he had claimed, had tried to sell it for an exorbitant amount. When pressed on the items value he spun a tale about making the orb for his daughter who tragically died soon after. Uriah guessed that the story was disingenuous and pressed further, leaving the so called mage to sputter about debts that needed paying and assurances that the orb was merely a trinket. Uriah eventually agreed on a price and the mage left, satisfied if not happily. But Uriah was not reminiscing about the orbs acquisition, he was intrigued and puzzled by the fact that it had moved, again. The previous morning he had noticed the orb out of place and adjusted it. This morning the orb was again not as it had been the night before, it had moved, or been moved, towards the edge of the shelf it was sitting on.

Uriah picked up the orb and held it upright by it’s base. As he peered into the orb the figure inside got up, lept toward him snarling and hit its head on the glass. This display jostled the orb and startled uriah enough to drop it, the glass shattered against the floor and the creature inside ran off out of sight. Uriah searched for a minute, but not finding anything he cleaned up the broken glass and resumed opening his shop, trying to settle himself.

Puck peaked out from his hiding spot and saw the shopkeeper resuming his routine. “Well i’m out of the frying pan at least” he thought to himself. Looking around he saw that the room was lined with shelves filled with odds and ends and larger items were placed around the room according to some shui-ing feng, at the back of the room there was a door directly opposite the entry door. Next to the entry door Puck saw a tree like plant “now if only I could get there, there’s too much open area to get there undetected without a distraction though….”. Puck ducked back as Uriah opened the front door signaling that the shop was open for business.
