Physiology
Talen is a shadow elemental. In order to join the material plane he crafted a body made of condensed shadow energy, but perfectly mimicking a normal human body. Within the body he planted a gate of sorts that allowed energy to flow into Talen slowly, effectively allowing him to grow like a normal child. Once he transferred his consciousness over, Talen lost his memory. What little he knows of before he entered the material plane of Althanas has come as second hand knowledge, and he still doesn't know why he did it.

All Talen's abilities involve manipulating the same shadow energy he is comprised of in one of three ways; by directly manipulating the energy of his body, by bringing in more energy through the gate within himself or by using latent energy that seeps in through shadows.

Talen's cloths are also made up of the same energy as his body, so the youth can effectively wear any type of clothing he wants and change at a whim. He is limited to black or white clothing however.

Tattoos
Talen has currently two blessings from the Thaynes in the form of tattoos. Given his ability to manipulate his body, he often will have more, but these two are permanent:

N'Jal: N'Jal blessed Talen during a rite with Lorenor. The bessing granted Talen additional power, some of his memories back and increased speed. The Mark of the Spider Queen in on Talen's left shoulder blade in the form of a large stylised spider.

Hromagh: After a dream-time fight with Hromagh as well as Sei Orlouge, Jensen Ambrose and Dan Lagh'ratham, Hromagh granted Talen increased strength. On Talen's left forearm is the mark of Hromagh, a twisting bull wrapping around his entire forearm.



Personality
Talen can be quite sadistic, but only when he knows he can get away with it. The only loyalty that he holds is to the Ixian Knights and N’Jal.



Appearance
Talen has fully mastered his control over his body. He can alter his appearance at will, but will generally take one of three forms:

The Youth: A fourteen year old boy representing what he looks like without any changes to his appearance. He is small, even for thirteen, with short black hair, pale skin and a generally unkempt appearance.

The Adult: A man of about 25. The adult has sharp features, a broad, slightly condescending smile and messy black hair. He stands around 190cm and about 80kg, lean and tall. He is, for all intents and purposes a twenty-five year old version of the Youth.

The Monster: Talen pushes as much energy into his body as possible. The result is a large black beast with a wolfen snout and thin white eyes. It stands 210cm tall and weighs 130kg. The beast’s skin is black with long thick limbs.

Base Statistics
Each base statistic is assumed to be a multiplier of the average person. So if its a 2, Talen is twice as fast as average and so on. (STR= Strength, SPD= Speed, AGL= Agility, END= Endurance, PER= Perception, Hearing & Sight)

Talen extends a tiny amount of his body out in a fifteen metre radius effectively creating a radar around himself he can detect everything in or entering the area around him. Can be used three times a thread/day, lasts for three posts, including the post used.

Talen has learnt how to change intimate objects into shadows and back. Items that have been in his possession for a long time (ie, in his character sheet, or granted as spoils in other threads) can be summoned from the shadow realm, or sent back. Talen has learnt how to integrate the energy of the items into his own, causing them to protrude from his flesh. An example would be his sword blades growing out from his forearms so he can slash at his target. Special limiter, Talen can only use this skill to provide protection to his arms, he can’t cover his entire body in metal/items.

Cry

Talen can produce up to eight tentacles composed of shadow energy (and made physical like his body and as durable as (normal) flesh). Each tentacle is one metre long but can stretch to a maximum of eight. They can grab onto things, but also strike with a large amount of force, breaking bones of a normal person taking the full hit. In terms of lifting things, they are as strong as Talen is. They last until destroyed (physical or magical damage) but can only be once per battle thread or once a day. Talen can summon them individually or all at once.

Crow
The savage crow, spectre of death hanging like a shadow above the battle; waiting for it to finish and the chance to feed on those below.

Talen is able to create illusions out of shadows. He can create double storey house sized illusions/shapes for about 45 minutes (or 6 posts). At the moment he can use the skill six times a day.

Whimper

Talen can manipulate shadows, either from the surrounds or more commonly from his own body. Due to his extreme control of the shadows, he has learnt to create solid shadows. The youth can create these types of shadows and control them within five metres of himself. At its maximum, the shadows can be condensed to strike with the strength of steel with a volume of 20cm, or expanded to two metres and be as strong as a very powerful gust of wind. Can be summoned twice a thread for three posts. Only one active at a time.

Harmony
All things sit with a gentle harmony between them. Chaos occurs when one imposes rules across that natural order and seeks to set his will and thoughts as the new way of things.

Talen can stand, walk, etc, on any surface as if unaffected by gravity. For example he could walk up the side of a building, or up the side wall of a room and onto the roof. He can choose to end the ability at will, but he must be in contact with the new surface for it to take effect.

Song

Talen has the ability to change his form into a multitude of different things (as long as they are humanoid and there is no benefit to battles; purely cosmetic). The main three are listed above.

Whisper

Talen can completely regenerate himself over the night. If he is killed, maimed, etc, he will come back the next day. If he is killed his body will melt away into the ground along with any items he had with him. This ability can’t be used to suddenly regenerate during a fight, if he is hurt at night he wouldn’t regain his original form until the end of the following night. By expending additional effort he is able to heal moderate wounds (clean break, non-life threatening damage) within a matter of seconds. Usable twice a day/thread.

Hum
All things hum, right down to the atomic level. It is a universal song, a backdrop of music which we have forgotten how to listen to. Can you hear it?

Talen dematerialises and travels through the shadows to materialise at his destination. Talen can travel short distances, up to 15 metres instantaneously (minimum of one post cool down). Longer distances require meditation for up to 30minutes (ie, quest use). At the moment he can only use this skill three times a day/thread.

Toll

Talen can materialise parts of his body within ten metres of himself. This allows him to lash-out with punches, kicks, etc to anything within that range. Talen must complete the relative action of the long range attack, eg lash out with the punch and his fist disappears and appears where he attacks. Talen is limited to straight line attacks, ie if he punches towards something, his fist will materialise in a straight line towards the target.

The Bright Spark is a small wrist contraption that sits under the forearm with straps around it much like a bracer. When the device is pulled in a certain direction thanks to a pull with the wrist, the device emits a small bright spark for the distance to a foot (unless something stops it). The spark has little to no offensive ability but is useful for starting fires.

This small nondescript black book allows anyone to read the thoughts of any women in the world. The book works as a receiver, picking up the thoughts and turning them to print on the pages. Can be resisted by people with mind protection abilities/spells or those of a higher level than the wielder.

Medical Kit:
A small kit with a few basic medical implements in it. It contains tweezers, a scalpel, scissors and a bandage.



Skills

Dress for Success
Talen can change his clothing at will, as long as the clothing is black or white, and doesn't give him an advantage in a fight.

Swordsmanship:
Talen is great with a sword. He utilises his own style of combat in which he will use his large blades one handed. If he is pressed, he might switch to a formal style.

Brawler:
Talen has some experience fighting hand-to-hand and knows how to use his gauntlets.

Secretes of Shadows:
Talen knows a lot about Shadowmancy or other forms of magic utilising dark energy.

Shadow Speak
Talen knows how to communicate with Shadow Elementals or other Shadow Creatures, assuming they are sentient enough to understand.

N'Jal Initiate:
Talen had decent knowledge of the Dark Goddess and those who follow her.

Basic Magic Knowledge:
Being around a lot of magic day in and day out means that Talen has picked up a few things here and there about how other types (non-shadow/dark) of magic work.

Observant:
Talen spent his life on the streets and had to learn to pay attention to what was going around him, or suffer the consequences. He will normally be paying attention to what’s going on around him and generally looking out for trouble.



Trophies:
Talen has collected a number of items from his adventures, they had little if any use other than decorative.

A slightly larger than normal needle which allows a skilled user to sow the souls of the living into the dead. Cannot be used without a skill and will be used in further quest plots.

Change log:
Changes in Green.

Increased Core attributes.

Murmur - Reworked ability into another one. I found the existing skill to hard to work with, and nearly impossible to get much use out of.

Symphony - Removed limit on only being able to make a change if not doing anything else in the post.

Cry - Increased to eight tentacles, specified that Talencan summon them individually or all at once (was in practice what I was doing).

Whimper - Reworked into another ability.

Whisper - Added the ability to heal moderate wounds.

Hum - Removed the forced time before he could teleport. Reworded the longer teleport and cut down on time.

Toll - New ability

Trophies - added Werewolf Slippers I had previously forgotten to add and re-added the Soul Sewer, not sure why it wasn't there.
