Character Proposal/Application

Name: Philomel “Phi” Serkena van der Aart
Age: 27
Race: faun
Hair Color: dark brown and violet (dyed)
Eye Color: grey
Height: 6’ 0”
Weight: 156 kg
Occupation: sellsword and whore

Personality: Thinks of herself as a tough woman, ignoring what others might say that a female faun is only useful in terms of looking pretty and mating. Is a little sassy, sometimes a bitch, with a foul tongue at times, but can also be quiet when she needs to be, knowing many tricks of the prostitution trade that her mother taught her. Is pretty nifty with a sword, and trying to teach herself with knife-throwing skills. Has been hired on occasion as a spy into a whore house - is happy to do most things as long as it ends in sex or blood. Unless it is rape, then she’ll cut the throat of the bastard.

Appearance: Goat legs, with cloven hooves in chestnut fur. From hips up human in form with large breasts. Two black curling ram-like horns sprouting from her forehead. Has dreadlocks of dark brown and violet that braid together at the back. Leather bodice holding breasts in place, or trying to, under a shoulder guard over her right shoulder. Is rather naked with bare belly and bare arms, with a tattoo of an ash tree sprouting from her pelvic area up and curving around her belly button. Also has a back sheath for her large sword. Has a belt with a draping embroidered loin cloth to hide her intimate anatomy. Assortment of earrings in her left ear.

Skills: tracking skills, and survival. swordsmanship, adequate marksmanship, but learning. Very very good at sexual intercourse, as an exotic option for the more daring. Also head butting due to her large ram-like horns

Abilities: excelled speed when running, to the speed of a deer bounding away from predators, based on an African springbok - short bursts of up to 50km/h and leaping up to 4 m through the air in a single curve (31mph and 13 feet respectively)
Close connection to nature, able to “listen” to trees and the earth due to faun-ness. Essentially linking with her tracking skills, but requires minor earth magic to hear a tree’s lifespan and heartbeat, or sense where an animal might be within a five mile radius. As long as she is in an earthy area and not on water.
A very sharp sense of smell - even blood and at times fear

Equipment: steel and brass shoulder guard (right shoulder). Iron hand-and-a-half sword, leather vembraces, small assortment of three throwing knives. Leather breast protection. Random length of chain.

Familiars: small earth-spirit in the shape of a fox called Veridian

History: Her mother Lacey was the only faun in a whore house in a thriving city, Radasanth, and was seen one night by a faun iron merchant, Enna, from the mountains when she was offering her trade. He fell in lustiness over her, mostly because it was rare to see one of his own kind in a city, and hired her for the night. He ended up coming back a few months later and doing the same thing, and then again and again over a few years, in shorter and shorter intervals. Eventually he proposed marriage to her, for sake of apparently being “in love” with her. Lacey was very reluctant for a while, but once he promised her a house and money she agreed and they had a short and small, but official marriage. She got him to buy a house in the city, and even though he still had to go to the mountains for his trade she was content for a while.
After a month or so she got bored, and started inviting in men, going back to her old trade whilst Enna was away. She fell pregnant one night when he was around, and had the baby when he was away with one of her customers, thankfully a man of healing, present. She named the baby Philomel after a word meaning “nightingale” because she was born at night, and presented her with a certain pride when Enna returned. Enna did not react, though, how she expected, he seemed more disappointed than overjoyed, so Lacey took to turning cold. Things became a turn for the worse when Philomel was three years of age and Lacey found out Enna had had another family in the mountains all along.
She left Enna with Philomel and returned to the brothel. She was a good mother and took time out most days to raise her daughter well, though perhaps what she taught her was not typical. By the age of twelve Philomel was an excellent lover and plotting revenge on her father. She started earning money herself two years later, then finally got a human warrior who she offered her services for in exchange for learning the basics of swordplay. The warrior paused, but accepted her offer and he became her teacher, so that over numerous visits in the next four years, at the age of eighteen Philomel could use a sword well. Later that year she left with him when he offered to take her on a hunt into the mountains, where he continued to teach her fighting and tracking, and she tried to find out more about her father. What she gleaned was very little, but has gone back at various points to find out more. During one of these expeditions she found herself becoming mesmerised by a scent she found, and followed it until she came to an ash tree. When there, she touched the bark and was instantly able to detect the lifespan and events of the tree, when their had been storms, what creatures nested in the branches and so on. From that tree there came a small noise and an earth-spirit emerged, a small fox who she later named Veridian and has not had the want to stop following her since.
She later killed the warrior when she found him raping her own mother, and fed his body, ironically, to nightingales and crows, piece by piece.
Now half given up she is tempted to leave Radasanth and travel from there to some other place, to seek work and to abate the anger she has felt over the years.

Well, thats quite a history.

Can you limit the number of throwing knives to three, and the sword to iron? Normally if you have only one weapon you can get away with steel, but not when you have a few.

When you say she can detect animals, does that include people and what would be other people's characters?

Historys and backstorys do tend to be my speciality.
I was thinking three for the throwing knives, I was not sure so I just generalised. Her main weapon is her sword, as mentioned she is not the best of marksmen/markswomen yet. Yet, if it is needed, it can be iron.

Animals would not be special animals, ie companions or ones of magical value. And I was not even thinking of people, basically anything of a concious mind that does not reason. (Ahem. Like Aur)

Ha, nice.

The abilities are all good then. If you are able to edit in the number and strength (iron) of the daggers and sword you'll be good to go.

One more thing before this is wrapped up I missed. Can you define your running speed a bit more? Like a rough description on how fast she can run?

Added this into her appearance: "with a tattoo of an ash tree sprouting from her pelvic area up and curving around her belly button"
And this into description of her speed: "excelled speed when running, to the speed of a deer bounding away from predators, based on an African springbok - short bursts of up to 100km/h and leaping up to 4 m through the air in a single curve (62mph and 13 feet respectively)"

That's a bit faster than I expected. :p

The maximum given your other abilities would be 50km/h. The jumping part is ok, but remember that Agility (ease of movement) and speed are two different abilities. You might want to increase your agility next level, but for now you've max-ed out your abilities.

I literally went for how fast a springbok runs. And I was only thinking short bursts, not for very long.

I have dropped it to 50.

Thanks for your patience.
