Name: Marawol Aligiri

Nickname: Mar

Age: 30

Race: Human

Hair Color: Dark Brown

Eye Color: Intense Blue

Height: 5' 6"

Weight: 143lb

Occupation: Fletcher and Mercenary.

Personality: Mar usually keeps to himself, but he can't resist a good social gathering to loosen up. Using carefully chosen words, there is never a doubt of their meaning, or his intentions. Preferring a logical and calculating approach to all aspects of life, he often finds himself on the wrong side of the law, but is quick to find a way back to safety.
Most strangers receive a cold shoulder. Anyone around him long enough to thaw him out will find that although he is logical, he also is fascinated with street magicians and literature (mainly history).
He thinks highly of himself, his skills with bow and blade are nothing to be trifled with, but he remembers not to grow arrogant and never overestimates himself. Unless proven otherwise, he always considers others to be of below average intelligence and skill.

Appearance: Standing rather short for a human, his athletic, almost boney, frame makes him look even smaller. An almost elvish head gives him a rather elegant look, his long, brown hair tied into a low pony tail, and a leather thong tied around his head. Almost all inspections linger over his eyes, an intense, dark blue, and are the most prominent of his features. Wearing simple, loose clothing at all times, he finds it easy to blend with the middle class.

History: Born in a small village at the edge of the Outlands, he and his two younger siblings had a hard, yet fun, childhood. His dad, a Fletcher, taught Mar the trade. His mother spent her time raising the children, but being a retired street performer, she taught everything she knew to Mar.
Being fourteen was the hardest year of his life. His youngest sister, only ten, was attacked and killed by some sort of lesser demon. Although it was then hunted down and killed, it did little to comfort him. That year was spent in mourning, and the next, Mar decided to leave home.
Travelling to the nearest large city, he soon found that the world didn't need very many Fletcher. Enrolling in a fencing academy, he spent the next three years honing his skills with a rapier and his bow. In this time his only remaining sister, a year younger than him, had found a passion in healing, and had joined a small guild of clerics to learn the arts of mending.
With crime slowly on the rise, Mar sold his services as a mercenary. Often guarding merchants, or catching rampant animals, he saw the next five years flash by. In an attempt to broaden his skill set, he joined the Mage's Guild, but was swiftly evicted. Although he possessed the keen intellect of a mage, he struggled to cast anything beyond the most basic spells.
Having failed in real magic, he turned to illusions, training with street performers and, for a short period of time, with a guild of thieves. Gaining much skill in that area, he returned to his mercenary business, and now travels in search of jobs.

Skills: Skilled Marksman and Illusionist. Adept with a rapier and shield fighting style and hand to hand combat. Also an adept Fletcher.

Abilities: Image Shift: Once per day, Marawol can create the illusion of being a meter further to the right than he really is. This illusion can be broken in one way: Any attack or physical contact that would hit the image destroys the illusion. The image disappears after five minutes if not broken beforehand.
Ice Crafting: Marawol can use water to create any object in ice form. However, Marawol can only focus on one object at a time. As soon as he begins crafting another object, the original object returns to its original state (water). The ice is more dense than normal, making it more durable. Mal can not create any round/ball shapes larger than a baseball, or any stick or shaft-like objects longer than two feet.
Vision: Mal can zoom his vision at 2x. No ill effects.

Equipment: Yew Longbow (13 Yew Arrows), Iron Rapier, small wooden shield. Leather armor with a small mail vest.

Hey Scribe, welcome to Althanas.

Your profile is short and sweet, but I need a few clarifications:

1) Can you give me an optical zoom rating for "Vision" (e.g. 2x, 3x - like what you'd find on typical cameras or binoculars)?

2) Can you specify the wood type of your longbow and the material of your rapier?

3) Wouldn't an ice arrow be as strong as an icicle? I ask only because the way you have it written, the ice could augment as well as create. An oak arrow with an ice coating would be even stronger than an oak arrow, you know. There are also alot of objects. Can we limit the size of the object you can create at level one with ice crafting to a foot in diameter or less? Image Marawol creating a 1000 foot fall ice golem and wreaking havoc over Radsanth, no good for the poor peasants.

4) How many arrows do you have, and what are they made of (if any)?

Look forward to seeing you in action! Please edit in those clarifications and we can get you approved.

Thanks for the welcome, Max.

1) Mal can zoom at 2x, 3x, and 5x. He can zoom at 2x and 3x without any harm, unless he uses it multiple times withing a short time frame, or stays 'zoomed in' for more than a couple minutes. Using 5x zoom will blur his vision for a minute after every use, and a use can be no longer than one minute.

2) Yew longbow, and a steel rapier.

3) The way I imagined it is that the ice that Mal makes, is more dense and compact, making it stronger. It can in no way be used to augment another object. I was just saying that if you would craft an ice arrow using his skill, it would be just as strong as if you made an arrow out of oak. If you put the ice coating on an oak arrow, it would be the same as making the same size arrow out of a thicker piece of oak. I just wanted to make the ice a bit more durable because if he would try to make something like a dagger, or even an arrow, using regular strength ice, it wouldn't really do much. Icicles would just shatter if they hit any kind of armor. The size limit is no problem, one foot or less in diameter is completely reasonable.

4) 13 arrows, also made from yew.

I will add 1,2 and 4 into the original character sheet, but I will wait for further info and opinion on 3. I hope I did a better job of explaining what I wanted the ability to do.

Sweet. The ability makes perfect sense. Just a few things:

1) Ice crafting is fine if the ice is slightly denser than real ice. However, in the past we've only allowed baseball sized iceballs at level 1, so I'll need you to decrease the maximum diameter of the items you can craft a bit. I have no issues if you also want to create arrows. You can have a maximum of two feet in length for non-circular objects.

2) I'm afraid that even with your blurring limitation, the 5x zoom ability pushes your character over level 1 limits. I could allow you to have upto 3x zoom with the current 5x zoom limitations or 2x zoom with no limitations. Please let me know if either of those work.

3) Since you're using all of your ability slots for level one (maximum of 3) and have two weapons, I'll also need you to make your rapier iron or below (You can see our tier listing in the bazaar).

Let me know when you've made the changes.

No problem.

1) Round objects no larger than a baseball, or if the object is a stick or shaft no longer than 2 feet.

2) 2x zoom with no limitations. I'd rather have something simple with no penalty.

3) An Iron Rapier is no problem. How exactly is it decided if a weapon breaks/ need repair? Is there a link you could maybe point me to...

I think this should have cleared up all the issues.
