"Meow," called the kitten. Tobias stroked its head with a contented smile before it padded off. Rising from his crouch, the Soldier hefted his cloak over his shoulder and plodded through the heat of Radasanth in summer. Children played, and the dull murmur of merchants peddling their wares to passers by dimly registered in his mind. Tobias stared up at an oversized caricature. "Overcompensating," he snorted, and he shrugged.

The streets conferred a sense of busyness, but not in the crowded sense. There was room to breathe. Wiping a hand across his brow, Tobi glanced skyward. "One more day of this," he said, "then I can go back to Ettermire."
