Ok so I would like to buy a steel long sword and a steel chest plate.
Im not sure how much this costs or even how to purchase them.

You can always check the Bazaar FAQ (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?26527-The-Bazaar-FAQ) for answers to most of the basics, but you've got the basic idea. You can pop in here OOC or IC and request a quote on an item, then someone on the Bazaar Staff will jump in and assist you.

For the steel longsword, it will be 225 GP.

The steel chest plate will be 300 GP.

If you can accept a steel sword, it would be 150 GP. It will be shorter by several inches but longer than a short sword. (30" blade vs 24" blade)

The short sword (18" blade) would run you 115 GP and is a step above a dirk or long dagger.

You could also consider upgrading your existing iron items for less. You possess leather armor and an iron sword. This would allow me to give you a discount of 175 GP if traded in towards your purchase.

Ohh Please send her my thanks for her offer, but to the matter at hand. I would definitely like to upgrade my sword and leather chest plate to steel. I have one question though with this new weight my maneuverability will lack also correct?

Steel and iron are the same weight. But how you write the equipment is up to you. For extra points in realism, noting the increased weight in your writing will help readers understand your character's plight.

So if we go with the upgrade to steel - the total deducted from Amber Eyes is 350 GP.
