Elthas like performing basic tasks. Whatever needed to be done around The Trading Company's various holds, Elthas typically volunteered. He was steadily working on various projects of his own, but the more important fine points was that things got done. As a Quest Monitor for The Trading Company, Elthas had an important duty to fulfill. He helped oversee the new candidates that wanted to enter The Trading Company and start the process to train them so they would be able to contribute. Contributions to The Trading Company were never taken lightly. Advancement was welcome withing the power group's ranks, and Elthas was among it's many officers. The idea dawned on him, on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, that the best way to gather resources such as lumber, and animal hide, was to go out in Concordia Forest and gather them. That's when the idea took a life of it's own. Preparing the necessary documentation for his contact in Radasanth, Elthas would deliver the mission board notices himself. He wasn't the most influential client of all, by any means, but he was influential enough. He was quite intelligent as well. Elthas finished the legal papers he needed to give to his client. He then stamped the Clan Belthasar wax seal on the envelope, sealing it away. He placed his letter in a basic travel packs, and prepared his things. Once that was done, he would see the boss, Invetisto. The mission would be open to The Trading Company members of course, but he wanted to invite in a whole new work force into The Trading Company's ranks.
Elthas quietly walked towards Invetisto's office. He stared at the familiar door to it, and knocked on it thrice. He would wait for Invetisto to answer him. In the meantime, Elthas observed the various Trading Company officers and workers that walked through the simple compound in Corone. Their more elaborate base was closer to Dheathain, in The Outlands. Elthas wished to go through the proper channels to get the ball rolling. He folded his arms across his chest but stood in a generally relaxed position. He wore business attire that day, always one to dress rather lavishly. His suit consisted of a three piece suit, and he wore a classic wide-brim hat. Light brown in color. Unusually enough, he was not smoking that day. He had to remain sober in order to complete the month's quota. Elthas would wait for the boss to answer his knocking. Standing there in the hallway, he closed his eyes and thought about a lot of things. He'd changed dramatically in a short period of time. Once he was a villain working for The Syndicate. Now he was a man seeking redemption, and purpose. The Trading Company gave him a new purpose, but that part of him that was Elven searched for something more. Something that was currently not fulfilling him.
He often wondered what his other side of him wanted. He knew he could never go back to the old ways, but he could incorporate ideas of the new paradigm into the old. In honoring the old alliances, Elthas had kept his honour as well. He would someday become The Hero he was meant to become. Elthas thought about the letter that he carried on his person. It would offer good people honest work. But he knew, not everybody who answered the call would be an honest person. Elthas was prepared to deal with such an eventuality. If that DID turn out to be the case, he would deal with it as it came. A member of The Trading Company passed Elthas and greeted him.
"Sir Elthas." The man said casually and greeted the Officer. "You have business with the boss right now?"
"I do. But it will concern all current Trading Company members. Maybe some out side help as well. I'm trying to gather some hard workers for a good month or two out on the field." Elthas responded truthfully.
"I might be interested." The man said casually. "Let me know once boss makes the job official Trading Company business." The man then saluted and walked off.
"It will be everybody's business." Elthas said to nobody in particular. Radasanth wasn't built overnight... He thought to himself and continued to wait.

Invetisto was hard at work in his office in Corone. It was simple really, it had a large apple wood desk where his clockwork body was sat and he stood on top of as he did the paperwork. Behind the robotic body was a manikin that had Invetisto's TTC Tiger Fur Robe. In front of his desk were two cow leather chairs. On the right side of the desk was a cow leather couch that could sit three people and on the left was a giant six seater that fit snugly in the corner. Behind the manikin was a giant window that looked out over the city of Roricoth on Scara Brae.
The paperwork on his desk had got on his nerves many times in the last hour as even with five writing hand the paperwork just seemed to pile up and even as he got through it more seemed to just appear. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Invetisto looked up from his work then sighed. He climbed the 100 step stairs that lead to the head of his robotic suit. He then closed the head and waited for the suite to finish it's preparation. The stairs in the right arm disappeared then the machine stood up.
After a few minutes of checking to make sure the robot was functioning correctly, Invetisto grabbed his robe off the manikin then went to the door and opened it to reveal Elthas in a business suit. He motioned for Elthas to enter and take a seat in front of his desk, He then removed his robes again, sat his clockwork body down then thought, I really just need a button to open up the dang door. He then opened the head and stepped out. His Millipede like body glided down the stairs then sat himself in front of Elthas as he sat in the chair on his right.
"Welcome to my office Elthas. So what kind of paperwork do you have for me to add to the pile?" The tone that Invetisto had when he said the word paperwork could poison the air around them. You could see the disdain for the word as it poured out of his mouth.

"None." And he was quite serious when he said that. "Invetisto. We have been gathering many resources of late, and I propose we continue in that trend. Further, we need to stay ahead of our competition in their open market." Elthas was already thinking of the next project: The Jagged Mountains. "We need to be out in the field, working and collection resources before our competition gets at it." Elthas took out a scroll that contained detailed maps. They were dwarven maps of course, but Elthas didn't care. His reliable contacts and insiders outside of The Trading Company helped provide him with many things. Elthas unrolled the scrolled map and placed it on Invetisto's desk. "This is a detailed map of The Jagged Mountains provided by one of my contacts on the field. I trust this person. The information is accurate. If we can reach The Dwarves of The Jagged Mountains and get permission to mine ore for The Trading Company, we will have secured a valuable resource."
Elthas was serious about the diplomatic front. He wanted to be certain that their allies were treated well and with respect they deserved. "I am asking for your help for this." Elthas asked of the boss. Elthas figured that Invetisto would accept his request, but he didn't like to assume such matters about his boss. He always liked to ask things straight out. Currently, they were in their office in Corone and that would mean some travel time North. To The Jagged Mountain. Elthas wanted to be out on the field working with the rest of The Trading Company's work force. He wanted to secure as much resource producing capacity as possible. The Concordia Forest provided tons of resources, but he knew they needed to expand out of it. The Trading Company needed to become a global operation.
As Elthas thought about it, the idea seemed even more promising. "If we can get the blessing of The Dwarves, we will secure one of their mines. I propose we come with a drafted business proposition." Elthas explained. "If we give The Dwarves a cut of the profit, the deal should be sweeter and more beneficial for us all." Elthas continued. "We get some of the ore the mines produce, and a good cut of the profit, sharing it with them at a premium. So that way work is constantly flowing around The Trading Company and our coffers are always full with gold pieces." Elthas thought about everything he just said. He knew it was probably a lot for Invetisto to grasp all at once, but Elthas would see it done. He had personally recruited Otto into The Trading Company, and he would continue to provide The Trading Company with other tangible benefits. "I want you to come with me. I know you're eager to get back on the field and back working. Where we belong." Elthas was certain that his boss would agree. After all, The Trading Company was a league of business folk and hard workers. If he had learned anything about Invetisto, it's that the man before him enjoyed manual labor just as much as he did. He would still have to wait for the boss's stamp of approval before he underwent the mission.
And wait he would.

Invetisto looked at the map in front of him then back up at Elthas. "I have to say, your idea is most intriguing. The paperwork will be atrocious, but I think it will be well worth it. Elthas, I trust you enough that I will not be required to go on this journey with you. I am going to send you as an ambassador for the Trading Company. You are to write up the draft and then submit it to me in order to be reviewed once that is done, I will have you take it yourself to these dwarves in the mines. I'll give you enough money to hire two people to protect you as bodyguards. You can hire more if you wish, though it will have to come out of your own pocket." Gives Elthas 100 gold to give to bodyguards "Any questions?"

The Trading Company was like her life to the young elf. Gwendolyn Stormhollow walked down the halls with a fairly sized bag behind her back. She had spent all week on this project and she had to ask friends to get her a new carving blade when her old ones kept getting blunt. Finally though, after an enjoyable time crafting on the porch, she had a complete set of fanciful plates, cups, and saucers made of rick, dark oak. They were carved with elegant but very simple elvish patters and lines which matched per dish. Gwen started working with wood at the age of five, now at seventeen she was already a master. While yes, the age still may have seemed young for one such as her, but what could be said other than... she's an elf.
Gwen had made a new set of dining materials for a family which was part of the Trading Company. Their old set was indeed 'old' and they needed a new one. While they would still need to search out silverware, Gwen was sure her own creations were in perfect conditions. She met the fellow member she was looking for, Saltgreg, inside the Trading Company's base in Corone. He was a simple human who was around sixty years of age. His brown hair was falling off, leaving him a bit bald. However, his smile was kind and his wisdom was vast despite being a crippled man. Gwen smiled when she saw him wearing his simple clothes with a proper cloak wrapped around. Gwen walked up to the elder with a sweet grin, "Saltgreg."
The man beamed then spoke to her in his frail voice, "Th-thank you, child! We really needed more dishes. And now we have them thanks to you."
Gwen titled her head, her messy blond hair flowing along with her movements, "Aw, thank you."
The man chuckled, "You are certainly gifted in the talents of crafting. I never dreamed of having your talents when I was your age."
Gwen slightly blushed. For once in history, a human was talking to an elf telling them about when they were their age. Wow... However, Gwen knew it was true. She was much younger than this man. Saltgreg was an expert painter. He constantly painted and drew masterpieces of art to make anyone's homes seem a bit cozier. Gwen had considered asking for a painting fit for a hunter herself, but the old man had too much on his delicate hands to push him even more. He was a master with the pen and brush, but he was growing older and older each day. It made her sad, knowing that unlike elves man had a far shorter time to live. It also made her heart ache for her cousin and best friend Ashla Icebreaker. She was part elf and part human, so who knew when the heck she would die? If Ashla only lived up to a quarter of Gwen's lifetime, Gwen would have been lost.
Just then, she felt a hand on her shoulder, "Something is troubling you, dear?" Gwen looked up to the Saltgreg and suddenly realized that she was crying. Gwen pulled her arm to her eyes and wiped her tears away.
"I-I - umm..."
"It's alright to speak to me, I will understand." The man gave her a reassuring look. Gwen knew that in moments like these she truly was home. All the members of the Trading Company were equal, they understood each other. In this knowledge, Gwen found herself smiling joyfully once again.
"I'I'm okay, it's just... You are all so amazing!" The blonde's arms slightly lifted away from her body, motioning to the entire crown of Trading Company members around her, "I cannot imagine losing anyone here."
Saltgreg chuckled, "I understand. Friendship and loyalty is a very strong thing to have." The old man the walked up next to her and place his arm around her shoulders, "Shall we take a walk?"
So the two continued on through the masses of Trading Company members wither taking their times or up to rushing to get some work done - or just chatting about business and comparing jobs. Gwen wrapped her young and smooth arms around her companion, giving him a spirited hug.
The elder smiled down at her, "Seeing a young person with strong emotions is good. Seeing them positive is better. Seeing them for an elf..." He started, "Tremendous."
Gwen broke her hug, but Saltgreg's arm remained where it was. "Just remember," He lifted his pointer finger in a 'matter of factly' pose, "Don't allow your warm emotions to burn out into something cold and dim. The fear of lose and weakness is one which leads to vaster, much darker paths... And I cannot imagine seeing you go through that."
Now Gwen was hard in thought, once again the old man had a point. She looked up as him with a look of innocence, "I can see what you are saying." She then broke their embrace and stood in front of him, her fist clenched confidently, "I promise, I won't fall like that!" The bag of wooden dishes was still slung behind her bag, the sound of the wood clashing against each other clearly singing in Gwen's pointed ears.
The elder placed his hands together and smiled again, "Well, you do have many long years ahead of you, elf. And indeed you may fall. But when the time comes when that could happen, just remember what I said - and your little promise." He then walked up to her and planted a respectful kiss on her forehead before taking his new dining utensils from her and slinging it across his own back. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to drop these off at home then paint a picture for dear Misses Ancherhove.
Gwen nodded to him and watched him leave, too lost in his words to ask for help. Now she was standing there, alone in the crowd. The woodland elf slowly turned around after a minute or so to see a familiar face within the crowd. The girl's somber face then brightened up to an innocent face only found in the young and naive.
Brand walked down the hallway, kicking up small dust motes behind him. The cloak billowing up behind him shone, the material now black, the interior lined a blood red, to match his scarf, instead of that hideous yellow that it once was.
“And so, Tras, we have what, seven, eight ingots?” Brand asked of the man scuttling along behind him, his eyes looking down at a small roll of parchment, emblazoned with the seal of the Trading Company.
“Yes, that and a couple yards of cloth, almost two hundred pounds of glass, and bits and pieces of those experiments that Investio was working on a couple weeks ago.” Tras responded, pushing up his spectacles, then snorting.
Brand sighed. The company was failing, and miserably. They probably had enough metal to make maybe two swords. He needed to get more metal and soon. He looked down to Tras, then motioned him off, simultaneously grabbing the scroll from his hand with a bit of a mental push, and it landed squarely in his palm, unfurling. The numbers and diagrams were more than depressing, the were simply horrible. Dire straits were approaching, and if Elthas didn't steer it back straight, they'd be hitting the coast in a wreck soon enough...
–
“Sabatykos, Ms. Stormhollow, Investio, Kneller, and others” Brand read off the scroll in his mind. He was walking briskly down a hallway, legs rhythmically stepping up and down in a linear fashion. The bank wasn't a huge place, but the vault, that was a different matter. He looked to the attendant and then shoved his key into the override lock, and opened the door. His jaw dropped at the sheer emptiness.
“Lydia. Didn't we have almost two hundred and sixty gold?” Brand asked to the attendant, his ember eyes literally sizzling with annoyance. Lydia Banks turned around in her chair and pulled out the ledger book.
“Indeed sir, but Investio just took out one hundred gold pieces for some bodyguards.” She said, her eyes turned up to the massive chunk of a man that was the financial monitor. His eyes glowed red hot, and his hands were clenched into tight fists. He was angry, and that was for sure.
Brand slammed the door shut, and grabbed his staff from the rack nearby. Forged by a smithy he knew later to be the renowned Otto Bastum, it was surely well made, and fit nicely within his hand. The intricately forged spearhead only added to the power.
“Get me to Elthas...” Brand muttered, and then raised his hand, raising the rock platform beneath him, with a mental boost. Momentarily, he plunged through the arcane link between the vault and headquarters in Corone, and got off on the surface, the stone falling back down.
He found Elthas standing in front of the house of Investio, leaning nonchalantly against the wall. Brand walked up to him. “WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?” Brand growled through clenched teeth, gesturing to the scroll which hovered next to him, marking down close to half the contents of the bank, spent on what was listed as 'Protection funding'
“One hundred gold, Elthas, sir, spent on your protection? I could swear you were apt in combat...” He said, calming down, shaking his head. “Why, in the name of the Thanynes, do you need bodyguards?”
Bunnies between Gwen and Ashla approved.
Ashla was thankful that she caught her.
Only just getting into to the same environment her cousin Gwendolyn was adapting to (quite well too) Ashla was quick to wish for her friend's presence to guide her around the area some more. So as the elf/ human hybrid walked around aimlessly within the crowded world around her, she was surprised to turn her head to see her elvish cousin staring right at her. The girl was much messier and rougher than the smooth skinned Eiskaltian. Gwen's skin had patches of dirt forming on it, although barely visible, and her hair was thick and were clustered into single strands. Her eyes though were brown and lively. Ashla smiled back, her beautiful blue eyes shining like an ocean of care. Ashla looked down to see her cat, Fireleaf, standing on all his toes right below her feet. From what Ashla could tell beyond the various items and weapons on her belt, the cat's hair was up like pointy grass.
Ashla motioned Fireleaf to follow her with a simple hand wave. The cat was only left to follow her scent alone while racing around the crowd of giants around him. Constantly dodging multiple smelly shoes which made left heavy footsteps and too many noises for his delicate ears to follow, the tabby feline finally caught up to his two girls. Ashla noticed her pet, hair standing and ears back - but at least still alive, and bent down to scoop him up.
"... In any case, I hate to admit it, but I'm kinda... embarrassed."
The blonde standing across from them eyed her cousin softly, "Embarrassed?? Why?" Her voice was full of concern and true kindness. Only one of the many personalities the young elf seemed to have.
Fireleaf felt Ashla arms shift and attempted to keep in her arms himself as the black-haired Icebreaker turned a bit to the side, "Well, everybody here is so talented at so many things... I don't even know how to knit beyond trimming my outfit sizes..." Fireleaf could sense the awkwardness within the air, his mistress indeed was embarrassed.
Meanwhile, a loud scoff as heard over at Gwen's end of the conversation, "Ashla, you're an excellent duelist! And you know how to... cook... a bit..." She sounded unconvinced herself.
Ashla released a familiar sounding sigh which let Fireleaf know that whatever his humans were talking about, she wasn't amused, "I can only fry a basic roast... I'm hopeless..."
The conversation carried on. The fully grown Fireleaf, meanwhile, proceeded to crawl onto Ashla's shoulders instead of staying in her arms.

(Okay guys, away we go!!! I'm claiming a place holder for Sabatykos as well. Minor bunnying of Brand.)
"I understand your concern, Invetisto." Elthas refused to take company money for his own ventures. He'd recently acquired leadership role of The Trading Company, and as such, had a certain responsibility to it. As he looked at Invetisto he smiled softly. "I only need your stamp of approval for the mission." Elthas said calmly. "Now that I have it, I can begin the project." Elthas got ready to leave his former boss's chamber. "By the way. If this goes well we should double our work force by the next full moon." Elthas had high hopes for the project. He'd seldom encountered the Dwarven folk in their own home. However, there was a mutual benefit that Elthas saw. As he rejected the money, he saw the always hot-headed Brand come running towards him. The sight of the strangely dressed fellow always amused Elthas. But through and through, Brand was a good man.
Elthas moved to meet Brand halfway in his journey after his business with Invetisto was done.
He looked at Brand who had a very unpleased air about his person. Elthas frowned at the man's question. "You are an officer of The Trading Company." Elthas said. "But that doesn't mean we need to panic for every little situation." Elthas knew he was carefree, it was part of his nature as an Elf. He didn't really mind it. "Besides, Brand, I didn't accept the money Invetisto offered. As you are aware I have my own funding. I can pay whoever assists me with the current project myself." Without digging into the coffers of The Trading Company. What limited resources we DO have...that has to change. Elthas rubbed his chin as he walked out with Brand. Once outside, he explained the mission of the day as they walked. "You see, my man inside their community has confirmed available trade routes." Elthas explained. He was scanning the gathered crowd for Sabatykos, and Gwen as well. He spotted Gwen...but then he saw her with a certain someone that made his face go completely sour.
Elthas frowned. "Excuse me Brand, I have to speak to Gwen briefly, wait right here." Elthas walked over to his blond friend, Gwen. He saw a former enemy standing alongside Gwen. Ashla Icebreaker. He remembered her from their brief...tragic encounter in that one tournament. Elthas sighed. He didn't like Ashla...at least not yet. But he would hold his tongue for Gwen's sakes. ESPECIALLY, if Gwen invited her to assist The Trading Company. Elthas looked at the two women and nodded carefully. He was not happy about seeing Ashla, but he held himself back considerably. "Lady Gwen. Ashla...it has been a long time." Elthas said quietly, he was seething, but he kept himself surprisingly well tempered. For the sakes of both Gwen and The Trading Company, Elthas had to act like a LEADER.
He knew replacing Invetisto as boss of The Trading Company would be a tall order to fill.
Elthas relaxed a bit after taking two deep breaths. He was trying very VERY hard to keep himself composed in the face of an enemy. However, for The Trading Company policies, Elthas had to put aside his OWN views of potential allies. The good of The Trading Company far outweighed his own needs and views. Elthas looked at the two women. "I am waiting on one more person who is already here, judging by his scent. Once we have all gathered, then I will explained why I have called for this meeting." Elthas forced a smile. His eyes told all though, they seethed with a certain rage. Yet, even with that, he held himself back. Ashla had once brutally KILLED Elthas in an event that was supposed to have been good sport. It was supposed to have been a fair contest. That's what Elthas had hoped for. Now, a gut feeling whispered in the back of his mind that he would likely end up in a position where he was forced to work with Ashla Icebreaker.
Elthas turned to look towards Brand, and motioned for the adviser to come forward. There was ONE last individual that was going to join them. A recent addition to The Trading Company, a boy with a distinct scent. A boy that heralded from a mysterious family and circumstances. And as soon as Elthas motioned for Brand he saw Sabatykos walking towards them all. Elthas nodded politely to one of the newest recruits of The Trading Company. The boy was a gifted Engineer and seemed to hold strange knowledge of all sorts of technical data. Either way, Elthas took an immediate liking to Sabatykos and the two had become friends instantly. Elthas took a step back so he could address the gathered. Those who were also on the company payroll were present, a few workers of this or that trade that would accompany them.
"Good we are all here." Elthas said. Including himself, Gwen, Brand, Ashla, and Sabatykos, there were a few other members of The Trading Company who would provide logistical support. "As you all know, I have called for this meeting. The rumors are true, I intend to forge an allegiance with The Dwarves of Jagged Mountains." Elthas explained. "We are going to travel up there to meet our contact, an insider that I trust profoundly as any of you." Elthas looked at Ashla for a moment. Hinting that he was being sincere. "My source indicates that The Jagged Mountain's hold rich resources that The Trading Company needs to secure. Regardless of whatever other projects we are all working on, I am requesting that they be put on hold. We MUST secure these new resources." Elthas said calmly. "The Dwarven community we are heading to is rich in customs and traditional values. They could make a very powerful ally." If this goes the way it should... "We are to meet up with their leaders and honour the Old Alliances." A notion that Elthas took very much to heart. Elthas looked at his companions. Sabatykos walked over towards them and had heard the entire missive. "I believe that securing a network of allies is critical to The Trading Company's growth and infrastructure. I have hand chosen all of you to assist me with this project." Elthas said calmly. "When you are all ready, we can part on the 'morrow. And you all, I must have a word with you." Elthas motioned towards Brand, Gwen, Ashla and Sabatykos.
Sabatykos Maelstrom

(Bunnies of Elthas approved since I am both Elthas AND Sabatykos.)
Normally, Sabatykos would just be another Halfbreed in the crowd.
His pointy ears were shaped strangely, and were a tell tale sign that he was some portion of an Elf. Sabatykos wore a very simple attire in contrast to the upper echelon of The Trading Company's elite. Sabatykos was a recent addition and prior to that, he'd been a freelancer. He was focusing on his trade when the recruiter for The Trading Company first contacted him. Sabatykos agreed to join because he needed something more than the meager coin he was scraping off from freelance work. He wanted a chance to truly shine and grow as a technician.
Sabatykos was always an upbeat fellow, though a bit on the serious side. The blood of his people flowed through his physical shell, and it was apparent by the strange and elaborate tattoos that decorated his body. Only his middle aged face was not marked with any tattoos. He had dark and spiky hair, his hood worn up to ward off the afternoon breeze. Sabatykos had observed Elthas and Brand from his position in the crowd the entire time after they emerged the house. He also saw the two ladies that Elthas had spoken to.
As a technical minded individual, Sabatykos liked to constantly analyze matters. He also liked to put things together with his own two hands. Sabatykos worked with a small teams of fellow Engineers, two of which accompanied him. Engineering feats were acts that required considerable amounts of resources, even to make the simplest cart or wagon. Sabatykos knew that Elthas had placed the order for his carts for the team roughly two months hence. Sabatykos had finished the week before. It had taken a team of SIX moderately skilled technicians to construct the specific carts and wagons that Elthas needed for his expedition. Sabatykos's eyes moved across the crowd. He noticed several other company workers in the team that would join them.
Sabatykos had a somewhat gruff exterior. Though his hair was wild, he also wore a thick beard those days. It had one braid that extended from his chin. He was also in considerably good shape. Sabatykos wore leather gloves, and a simple Adventurer's outfit. He'd changed out of his work clothing some hours earlier. He ran his hand through his hair. Then continued to observe. His team of technicians would come with him of course, he was a team leader. When Elthas addressed him, Sabatykos walked towards the group of fellow Adventurers with his own companions. Sabatykos nodded to those present.
In truth, Sabatykos was a little uncomfortable in large crowds. His eyes kept scanning the gathered to be certain no hostiles were present. It was always a force of habit when you were born to a race of Off Worlders. Sabatykos knew it was his turn to speak. "Master Belthasar." Sabatykos spoke the greeting very seriously. Sabatykos was a man of traditional values and the like and he took titles and such seriously at all times. "The four wagons you have requested two moons ago are now completed as per your request. Linus told me earlier that the horses you need are also ready." Sabatykos said carefully. Sabatykos knew that Elthas had explained company policies to him and the benefits. All that was well and good, but Sabatykos was more comfortable when he was making something or fixing something with his own two hands.
Sabatykos looked at Elthas, and Elthas looked back towards him.
"You got the task completed on time." Elthas said in a very kind sort of way.
The kindness still unsettled Sabatykos more than just a little. Sabatykos had seen many atrocities in his young life that this almost utopian community still kept him on his edge. Sabatykos nodded. "I thank you." He said quietly. "I have two of my best with me." Sabatykos said to Elthas. "They know how to command horses effectively and such. I will assist with the maintenance of the wagons." Sabatykos explained. "It's going to be a long trip up to the mountains, so make sure you all get plenty of sleep tonight." Sabatykos looked at his two companions. One was a fellow named Ron and the other was named James. They were quiet but they usually were. Sabatykos knew them and trusted them with his very life. Once he finished observing, he continued to explain. "We can load up the wagon of supplies later on this very night." Sabatykos said. He was eager to get back to work.
(Now you may all post again :) sorry for my delay folks.)

Every bunny between my accounts Green Gwendolyn and BlueGhostofSeaside during this thread are approved!
Gwen watched Elthas' every move, she could tell one thing if she knew anything... Elthas didn't like her cousin.
She watched as he walked over to talk to another worker, then turned to Ashla. Ashla looked back at her, "I've seen him before..." And by the way she said it, she remembered where. Gwen couldn't help but twist the golden ring on her finger. "H-how?"
Ashla then said two words. "Althanas Leagues."
Gwen understood, he was one of the opponents Ashla had met during the tournament she had talked with her about. Gwen could see how hostilities could have been formed, but she was scared... She had never seen such hate in Elthas' eyes before. Gwen then crossed her arms as Elthas finished a conversation with the other member, "Excuse me, my dear cousin..." And the she-elf walked over to her comrade. They had some talking to do...
Gwendolyn proceeded to walk up to Elthas and polity tap his shoulder, "Hello, Elthas." And she crossed her arms again, a small smile on her face. "I am much more than happy to assist you on this project as a proud Trading Company member, but..." Then she gave him a deep look of warning. Nobody dare even look at Ashla that way when she was around. "I saw the way you looked at Ashla. Look, you may be my superior within working functions, and you may be my friend through personal experiences... But if you even touch my cousin. War."
And she meant it. Gwen valued Elthas as a close friend and even a role modal, but when her only family left was in any possible danger; she didn't care who it was, it was on! Gwen lowered her arms, letting them fall to her sides. Now the only thing marked with threat were her brown eyes, shinning with the deep bond between her and her relative Ashla.

Elthas raised an eyebrow. He looked at Gwen...she was serious. But then again, so was he. For a moment the memory of dying at the hands of Ashla went back to haunt him. His eyes twitched, he was clearly angry. Elthas was hardly ever angry, but that was one of the few things that made him angry. Elthas looked at Gwen very seriously for a long moment. As he put together what he was about to say, he kept seeing Ashla's blades with his own blood. He tried to block out the recurring memory, but it lingered. Once the memory faded, he looked at Gwen. He shut Ashla out from his mind all together and addressed his cohort. He gritted his teeth, the situation between Ashla and Elthas was NOT Gwen's fault. However, she was involving herself in something that was not her business. Elthas took a deep breath and spoke.
"The business between Ashla and myself does not concern you." Elthas said very calmly, he was very serious. "I am being more than courteous to her out of respect for you. I didn't even know she was going to be here." Elthas continued. "Now as long as we are making demands of one another, keep this in mind. If you EVER threaten me again...there will be a serious problem between us. Am I clear on that?" Elthas had taken Gwen in, had helped her get situated, and had never judged her, and now she was JUDGING HIM. Over an ENEMY of all things. He was very close to exploding. But he kept his temper in check as much as possible. It took a DAMNED LOT to make Elthas angry. And that was one of the few times that they would EVER see Elthas angry. Elthas looked at Gwen with that serious expression one more time, and then adjusted his fedora momentarily. He broke eye contact, not out of anxiety, or nerves, but because he was stating that the discussion was OVER. Elthas was a man of action and he was well within his right to attack and even kill Ashla if he so chose. But he hadn't. And there was Gwen threatening him! Elthas sighed. He felt himself slowly calming down, and turned away from Gwen, he had to go see the wagons that Sabatykos had made anyway.
Elthas walked over towards Sabatykos who waited patiently. "Show me the wagons and carts. I think better when I put my mind on things anyway." Elthas said. He looked at Sabatykos and the two nodded.
I wrote this on my phone so sorry for the crappyness xD
Ashla watched as her cousin shared a hostile conversation with Elthas. Ashla watched the sour elf harshly turn to leave. Ashla stepped up to Gwen and smiled as the red faced girl turned to face her with rage.
Fireleaf jumped off Ashla's shoulder and stalked into the crowd. Ashla placed her hands on her hips, "Go ahead."
Ashla listened to every word of Gwendolyn's rant. She retold their conversation and threw her flaming thoughts on it. Ashla, in turn, felt a mixture of thankfulness and shame. Ashla was thankful that her cousin was stepping up and taking her side of their apparent debate. Ashla too had caught Elthas' disdain and couldn't tell what was wrong. Meanwhile, Ashla felt a sense of fear in knowing that if Gwen continued, it may be Ashla's fault for anything ugly that would take place. Too many times had Ashla been the worthless fault for anything and everything, she would not have things go the same way this time.
"Gwendolyn," Ashla started softly once the hotheaded blonde quieted down, "I am thankful for your efforts, I really am. And if I do need your help I'll call for it." With a sad smile, the hybrid Icebreaker placed a hand on Gwen's shoulder, "But I can't let you dig into trouble when it's my fault for whatever he thinks."
Ashla sighed, "I'll take care of this, Gwen. It's about time I started doing these things myself..."
Gwendolyn barged in though, "But you do everything yourself!"
Ashla chuckled, "And if anyone was to catch that and intervene it would be you. But, Gwen, I can't let a friendship of yours break because of me."
Ashla peered over from Gwen to see Elthas conversing with a man of a species she had never caught before. Ashla looked back to Gwen and smirked, "If this mission you dragged me into is going to go well, I'll have to address this myself. Now..."
Their playful banter refilled the tense air, "If you'll excuse me, my dear cousin." Ashla gave Gwen a chuckle filled hug before walking over to the elf she knew from the Leagues. Ashla smiled when she was given the proper moment to open a conversation.
"I never got your name until today," She opened, "'Elthas'. Long time, no see?"
If Ashla knew anything, it was that she knew not to open conversations like this as if nothing had happened. To at least address that they had met before, Ashla had brought up the subject of his name. Ashla had been more carefree then, so she had immediately offered her name up to him back then. Meanwhile, he had given her nothing of his identity. This was the first time she'd heard his name.

His head was messing with him.
He kept seeing the images of himself being killed over and over, try as he might, he could not fight it off. Much to his dismay as he attempted to focus on the task at hand. He walked with Sabatykos, making his way towards the position of the wagons. Then, Ashla intervened. Elthas sighed at that. It took him quite a bit to ever even GET angry, the fact that he'd have to work with a former enemy was one of those few times he was angry. However, the good of The Trading Company was what was important to Elthas at that time. He wanted his guild to succeed. The needs of the many far outweighed the needs of the few, or the one.
Elthas narrowed his eyes, he was breathing heavily as he looked at Ashla. She addressed him, and Elthas listened to her. His expression one of utter concentration. If this woman attempts to attack me again, I don't know that I can adequately defend myself against her...though it is true I have grown considerably stronger since then. Elthas remembered himself as she spoke. His mannerisms subtly changed, and he put on a cold, business-like mask of a facial expression. It wasn't that he HATED Ashla, no, that wasn't it at all. He was SCARED of her, and that was an entirely different and uglier monster to deal with. When she was done talking, he searched deep inside for the courage to face his enemy. And face her he would, on common grounds. On the grounds that he was now the leader of The Trading Company.
"Yes." Elthas began. "I didn't introduce myself to you back then because I was always scared you would come after me someday, and here you are." Elthas began. "We have unfinished business." Elthas explained. "But that can be settled another day, another time." Elthas felt a little more relaxed after he got that off his chest. However, he didn't trust her, he probably never would. She is here as an ally... Elthas thought to himself. With that in mind, I cannot bring my own views on her to the situation at hand. I have to be stronger than my own passion... Elthas thought to himself. "For now though, we're all here on Company business." Elthas explained. "You are going to provide material support, and physical labor hours, that's more than enough for now." Elthas said. "Depending on how well we do up in the mountains then I will consider giving you a permanent spot in The Trading Company." Yes, allow the enemy in...brilliant fucking idea. Elthas thought to himself casually.
Elthas was swallowing his own pride. Not just because he was staring at the face of an enemy, but because the goals of The Trading Company were superior to his own needs. "You can stay in my house with Gwen." Elthas suddenly said. "I trust that will be adequate a situation for you for the time being." Elthas was carefully considering the situation at hand. Things didn't really look good for the time being. But he was trying to be a leader first. Invetisto had trusted The Trading Company to Elthas, and he would be certain to guide it in the right direction. Elthas observed Ashla very carefully. There was a definite tension that hung in the air between the two. But even so, Elthas would work with the situation at hand. Despite the fact that his eyes told all, there was a storm brewing in his heart. A massive storm of varying emotions that Elthas hid surprisingly well. As he stood there, he waited for her response.
Strangely enough, Sabatykos stood quietly by his side and said nothing.
Elthas noticed that and wondered why that was...
Ashla tilted her head, it wasn't that she had a problem with the material effort. The thing was, she wasn't the stronger or most enduring person on Althanas. She would agree to this right now though, anything was better than starting some argument.
"Sure thing," she said casually, "I'll give it my best shot." Then Ashla remembered the first thing Elthas said. She chuckled despite her feelings of tension. "I'm not the kind of person to chase anything, Elthas." She reassured him, "If I would chase anything from you it would be how successful you are..." She lifted her knuckles to rest her chin on, her hand was quite sweaty, "I envy your luck." She admitted. Ashla felt an inner struggle coming up, her puny significance. Elthas had so much more than her, an entire guild under his control and all... Maybe if she showed some weakness (as much as she hated it) he would view her better.
She was leaning on one leg, one arm was slung tightly around her top. Worry could be seen on her face, as well as a sense of tension. She hoped, she just hoped, that whatever happened between them could be buried and forgotten. She never meant harm to anyone, she hoped that this elf would be able to see that. The air was blowing against Ashla's face, cooling the small sweat beads off, but causing her to squint.

Elthas had gained a lot in becoming The Trading Company's leader.
It was NOT just a title to him. The wind came in from the west at that point, and his long hair flowed with the wind catching it briefly. He looked off towards the west for a moment as if considering something that in that direction perhaps. Perhaps something that only he could see. He then returned his gaze towards Ashla. It's not that I hate her or don't trust it, it's that she fucking KILLED ME. I have to work with an enemy at my back, but all that can be put aside for now...I have to be stronger than I ever thought I could be. He heard her speak, it was sincere. He found himself having a hard time reading her, He didn't know what her intentions were, but he knew if she wanted him dead...she would have attacked by then. Elthas took a deep breath enjoying the breeze that suddenly and timely arrived.
Adjusting his trench coat a bit, he looked at her a bit longer. For a moment, that stare was not harsh or full of the anger he'd held in his heart up until that point. She's attempting to reach me, talk to me...why does this have to be so screwed up...damn... Elthas smiled for a moment just then as it was the only reaction he considered would be appropriate. He reached forward and attempted to place his large hand on her shoulder in a reassuring sort of way. If she would accept the gesture, would tell him what her intentions were for sure.
After that he relaxed a little bit. He considered his harsh stance on the situation and reminded himself that it had been a tournament after all, and that rules were different during the tournament events themselves. He'd gone in expecting a FAIR contest, and she'd gone in expecting to dismember someone. Elthas knew that their mentalities were completely different, but he would still work with her. As the breeze came in, Elthas's clothing moved with gentle ripples. Elthas felt a little better after he'd actually had a chance to SPEAK to Ashla. It oft took a better man to make sense of some matters, and that was one of those situations. Elthas pondered saying something, anything, but no words would come. Usually a skilled public speaker, he found himself at a true loss for words. He didn't know what was an appropriate line to say to her. He simply hoped that the softened expression on his face would be enough for her. He looked at her with a soft nod of respect.
"Hmn." He started. "I would like you to accompany me to see Sabatykos's wares. He's one of them Engineers or what have you. Their skills are beyond my knowledge." Elthas felt a bit more relaxed after the two had actually spoken and tried to make peace with one another. Elthas looked at Ashla and smiled briefly, only the slightest hint of a smile, but it was there. Then he turned towards Sabatykos who waited patiently for them to finish their business. Strangely, the lad never complained once...
Ashla hated anybody touching her... even her boyfriend sometimes... Although, sometimes she was okay with Julius touching her. Not a lot though.
However, she forced herself to take Elthas' hand on the shoulder. Anything was better than being aggressive...
When he mentioned an "engineer", Ashla found herself a bit curious. Even as a duchess in a foreign country, she never really had gotten into the whole "technology" thing.
Ashla decided to introduce herself. With everything she learned from those dumb Eiskalt Government meetings. She offered a slight, but proper, bow resembling her people's culture, "Sabatykos? Nice to meet you."
The wind had stopped now; both a relief and a disappointment to the Icebreaker. She stopped and started combing her hair with her fingernails. Activity was very brutal here. People talking, wagons being pulled... it reminded her too much of home. Ashla once had a success story too. For once in her life she had a home... then the plague of war came.
In the end, she lost everything all over again.
It was the second, or even third, time she faced such life-changing experiences. That time though, she faced it with knowledge. That time, she knew at least how to start over... she had no idea where though.
The activities and buzz going on around here made her want to run and hide... the wagons particularly. Somehow they reminded her of the transportation of the dead. To distract herself, she tried to pay attention to every word Elthas and Sabatykos said, but each and every noise outside made her want to twinge.

Sabatykos noticed the interaction between Elthas, Ashla and Gwen.
It was not Sabatykos's place to judge the way folks behaved towards one another. It was obvious, painfully obvious, that Elthas and Ashla had some sort of a bad history together. They don't have to be so hostile about it...but our leader is a good man trying very hard in a bad situation. I've seen Elthas angry, and it's never a pretty sight. I just hope there can be a peace between all of us if we're going to the Dwarves' community soon. Sabatykos was a deep and insightful fellow, as he walked with Elthas he thought about the process of the wagons. Elthas had requested several wagons be built for the mission, an expedition of The Trading Company was heading out to the Dwarven kingdom. It was necessary for a large group to travel safely. There were many hazards on the road such as rogues and hooligans. But those didn't concern Sabatykos. The main concern was roaming monsters both on the road and off the road.
Sabatykos was one of the few engineers in The Trading Company.
He knew his skill set was quite valuable and that he was NEEDED, that was enough for him.
It wouldn't matter that Sabatykos' origins lay off world.
He'd gotten used to Althanas a long time ago, considering he was BORN on Althanas. Sabatykos was eager to test his skill level against strong monsters anyway. He'd practice the techniques at his disposal for a long time prior, making sure to perfect them. He was eager to face the trials that the trip to the mountains would no doubt bring his way. He had to be on guard, he was a kind individual, but a serious one. He was also a hard worker. He'd taken to The Trading Company at an early age and found an adequate home in their ranks. Sabatykos and Elthas, and the rest, finally made it to the area where the cards were. Sabatykos turned towards Elthas and the assembled group. There were workers and various machines of an advanced nature that were present in the work area. Heat was also present as was the nature of the steam powered devices. The blacksmith's forge was nearby to the engineering area, and the buildings were maintained to top efficiency at all times. Sabatykos admired that about his fellow co-workers. They were efficient and equally hard working. The walk towards the general work area had taken a little longer than it normally would, but that didn't bother Sabatykos as long as he was not dragged into the personal affairs of his leaders.
Sabatykos stopped first, and Elthas followed suit. Sabatykos addressed the gathered, and spoke calmly. "There are four carts as were requested built to the best specifications of my skill level." Sabatykos explained. "They are ready for use at any time. They are sturdy and can house a good number of folks in them." Sabatykos rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Also, there can be canopy tops added later. But I decided to exclude them as they were not part of the construction specifications." Sabatykos explained. He looked at Elthas. "When everybody is ready we can depart for the Dwarven folks territory. It is further North in Corone proper and should take a couple of days of active travelling time."
"I also took it upon myself to request maps and other similar surveying equipment from the store houses." Sabatykos said. He was eager to get underway, and he was certain they all were as well.

Elthas walked alongside Sabatykos and studied the carts and wagons. They were built in a simplistic design, but were quite sturdy and able to get the job done. Elthas nodded proudly of his friend. He listened to everything that Sabatykos said and did not interrupt. When Sabatykos was done speaking was the time to take his turn. He then turned towards the gathered, Gwen, Ashla, Sabatykos, and the other company workers. "All right everyone. We will leave as soon as everybody has their gear together. I expect to be gone for about a month or so." Elthas explained. "We are meeting with the Dwarves as delegates of The Trading Company." He explained.
"The nature of the job that we have to undergo is to secure an allegiance with them Dwarven folks. The allegiance would follow typical Trading Company contractual obligations in exchange for our protection and other standard contractual benefits." Elthas said calmly. "My contact up in the North explained to me that the Dwarven folks are seeking outside help for various jobs and missions." Elthas turned towards Ashla and Gwen. "We need to be ready to work to earn an allegiance with them." Elthas said. "I expect to be ready for the jobs at hand as soon as we arrive." Elthas continued to speak. "We are contractually obligated to our Allies as members of The Trading Company. When they offer us contracted work, we must oblige them." Elthas explained. "The parcel I received a few weeks ago suggested that workers are needed in the area of The Jagged Mountains." Elthas said. "Because of the war, there are many places of Corone that need help. It is our duty to help where we can and are able to." Elthas said. "But our work is not free." Elthas added. "I expect that we will be well rewarded for our manual labor and any resources we provide to the Dwarven community." Elthas explained. Then he smiled at the gathered. "We can depart for the Jagged Mountain range as soon as it is time to. I expect about a week's worth of travelling time in which we may encounter dangers on the road. Be ready to defend yourselves as I will be ready to defend you all as well." Elthas nodded politely. Then he moved towards the gathered team of workers, a good mix of laborers and other skilled workers. Elthas would need a large team for the project.
"So the carts are adequate." Elthas told Sabatykos. "You have done an excellent job in a short amount of time."
