Name: Ashla Rose Icebreaker
Age: 17
Race: Human / Elf hybrid
Hair Color: Black with brown highlights.
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 5'6_1/3"
Weight: 108 lbs
Personality:
She doesn't think much of herself except for looking nice and keeping on top of her survival game. Ashla can easily be annoyed and pushed to a bad mood, but that doesn't mean she’s a grumpy person at all. In fact, she is at the most, very nice and trying her best to help people. She knows how much it hurts to be betrayed, back-stabbed, used as a pawn- she tries her best to lead an example opposite of that, she tries her hardest to be a trustworthy, giving person. She has traveled around Althanas in attempts to find a place to call home, and has so far failed to find it. She is very persistent though, and does not give up easily. Ashla has grown to have gained a will power that matches her attitude; no matter what she will never give up - of least not without a fight…
Ashla’s personality is a mix of her mother and father’s. Like her mother, Ashla has a positive thinking scale and greets a good challenge with open arms. She is very kind and has a good heart to always try to help others. Ashla also has a feistier side and can easily be annoyed and upset, but she tries her best to control her temper.
Like her father though, Ashla tends to be somewhat quiet and will go off on her own when she’s hurt. Also, she is very intelligent and has many strategic and observational skills. However, like her mom, a blonde, she does think slowly at times and often mixes common things up. She is in no way mentally ill though, and is not at all below the normal intelligence rate, but she simply gained the blonde traits of her mom without the hair color itself. When she learned the truth of her Icebreaker bloodline, she at first was aggravated to have always been considered an outsider and unwanted to them, but is slowly developing a heartfelt pride in her family name.
Appearance:
Physical Appearance:
Like her elven mother, Ashla has thick, long hair; pointed ears; and a thin, sturdy body form. Like her father, she had black-ish brown hair, a round nose, fair skin, and blue eyes. She sustains the heights of a normal human.
Outfit:
Ashla left Eiskalt with the outfit she had been wearing that day: a long, white undershirt with long, loose sleeves; a light blue, sleeveless shirt; brown panties; brown, long boots; and her mother’s necklace.
Ashla added onto this when she visited the Bazaar and bought a black, wool cloak. She also wore a leather brown belt with pockets for odds and ends and sheaths for her long-sword and long knife. She also bought a small dagger at the bazaar and strapped it across her leg. She would change it from left to right depending on the events of her day and her mood.
Skills:
Exceptional swordsmanship.
Hunting and cooking: she self-taught herself to in the last three years in order to survive. Her cooking isn't a gift though- the only “proper” meal she can make is a basic roast, which even so takes an extremely long time to do.
Self-trained at unarmed combat. Not exceptional, but still not that bad at it.
Ashla learned sign language from her friend and close ally Black Shadow.
She’s developed the strategic and observational skills of her father throughout time. And she can easily spot hints of something a person may not be saying; if you don’t like her, she’s going to tell sometime soon… She also can quickly plot out battle and other strategic plans such as ways to infiltrate a guarded fortress.
Icebreaker eyes: When she's extremely angry or deeply depressed, her eyes take on a look that’s like chips of ice. This is not an ability since no damage is caused at all in battle, it only shows whether she may like you or not.
Ashla can go into deep meditation and visit and train with her ancestor Adam Icebreaker. Once again, this is not an ability since during this state, she may appear to be asleep and will not wake up until she or Adam Icebreaker chooses so. Thus, she is completely defenseless unless she has an ally close-by to guard her. It is here that she can learn Spirit Abilities: abilities that rely on her soul and bloodline alike, and the ultimate Icebreaker Blade. (And no, she is not going to be using the Icebreaker Blade anytime soon.)
Abilities:
- Ashla has inherited her father’s Icebreaker blood-line traits and is able to learn these abilities at hand. The ones she has down so far have all been granted through close-to-death situations:
Frost Armor: (idea for ability's title given to me by another member) Ashla covers herself in a thick sheet of ice which can protect her from four average attacks or one really strong attack and one average attack. Also, by weakening an area in the armor, depending on the environment, she can form an ice sickle that can spear a close by enemy while still in her frost armor. The longest ice sickle can reach out to the length of a large dirk.
Particle Restriction: She touches any average sized object and numbs them. The numbing is similar to that in a strong snow storm in low degrees in which your hands may feel so cold it feels hot. This goes for when she touches a part of a person's body like an entire arm. If she focuses on a small object or part of a body she can freeze it over with a thin sheet of ice.
Crystalline Spear: A spear made of ice forms in Ashla’s hand(s) that has the strength of steel; she then throws it at any target. It afflicts the damage of any other spear with the usual numbness of ice cold temperatures as well. Right after the target is hit or missed and the damage is done to whatever it hits, the spear melts into water and is then completely useless. The spear can only be used four times in a battle thread, five in a quest thread.
Spirit Ability - Frozen Step: Ashla's bloodline "bursts out" whenever Ashla chooses and she gains quadruple (if not that, triple is the lowest I'm willing to go) her normal speed for a limited time. For two posts she can literally zoom around an enemy, leaving many trails of frost and ice everywhere in the process, which does make it possible for an enemy to track her movements. After the usage of this ability, Ashla has the side effect of becoming literally exhausted to the point of falling to her knees. Ashla can only use this once per thread, battle and quest alike.
Ice Doves: Ashla forms up to three doves in her hands and sends them flying towards an enemy or target. Once the doves hit anything they "explode", with the ice they are made of flying in all directions, along with Ashla's highest particle restriction damage. This ability can be used once for three doves, twice for two doves, and three times for one dove. Every dove can track a moving object.
Interstellar Enhancement: Ashla can freeze any form of liquid (water, beverages, volatiles, etc.) Into another ability if the product surrounds her and adds it to the overall damage. For example, is she freezes poison into her Crystalline spear and hits her target, the normal damage is dealt alongside the side effects of the poison. If she uses this with an ability, that ability, no matter what the limit beforehand, cannot be used again for the rest of the thread, whether the target is hit or not.
- Ashla also inherited the elvish trait of fitness and is now four times more agile than the average human.
Fighting Style:
Ashla isn’t as strong as she could be, however, she is very agile. This means that Ashla depends a lot on her own speed and body movement rather than just pure strength.
Defensive Mode:
She makes sure than she gets into a fighting positions and stances which would allow her to move quickly when needed and keeps herself light of her feet. She may spread her legs apart and will keep one of her two steel blades close to her while the other is in grip for attacks. So if her larger blade missed an attack, the shorter blade is a backup. She may also keep her blades close to each other as if they were one, large sword to block stronger attacks. Along with blocking her attacks, she will also dodge or skid out of the way of attacks. She will keep at this until she finds a good opportunity to strike, going into her offensive mode.
Offensive Mode:
When she isn’t blocking attacks, she is returning them. When she is attacking, like with her defensive stances, she will make sure that she is in a position to move quickly; taking advantage of the physical skills she has. While she is swerving past and around her opponent, she is delivering blows with her long-word or even both her blades. When she does stay in one spot for her attacks, given all that jumping around and dodging can take a load out of her strength and energy, she makes sure that she has her long-knife close to her body like in her defensive mode, to make sure that she has a defense under her offense as well.
Second Offensive Mode:
When Ashla is just plain ticked and just wanting to get things done and over with, she may surpass her physical doubts and just get plain aggressive. She is still moving around like heck, even more so actually, but will enforce her blows twice as hard. She will be swinging both her blades at the same time in a duel-blade format, swinging quickly to make sure her enemy has no time to return the blows. Unlike her usual offensive attacks, she has no defense behind it whatsoever except for her natural Frost Armor ability she carries in her blood. She barely uses this aggressive attack for that reason, and will only use this when ticked off, losing her usual cautiousness, or just plain tired of either side holding out.
2H Mode:
Ashla will use a two handed grip on her long-sword at times; especially when facing a stronger opponent so she can match his/ her strength when blocking. She will stand her ground and zip around at equal grounds and works it as mostly a defense. However, she will also go into offensives for this style.
Equipment:
- Belt with pockets for odds and ends (including food and a needle with thread)
- Sheaths for her light-weight long sword and long knife at one side of her waist each.
- A nixstella necklace passed down from her mother as a parting gift at her birth. It has a loose, metal coil with white nixstella crystals running down along it in a pattern. The center nixstella crystal is light blue and a tad bit bigger than the other crystals.
- A cloak bought from the Bazaar.
- A small belt strapped around her leg with a sheath for her dagger.
Weapons:
- Steel, light-weight long-sword (originally her uncle’s)
- Steel, long knife (originally her uncle’s)
- dagger with rose engraved on it bought from the Bazaar.
History:
Ashla was born in the capital city of Eiskalt to Ashfall Icebreaker and Layla Rose. Her mother died in child birth, so it was left to Ashfall alone to supervise her upbringing. After smuggling Ashla and himself out of Eiskalt to escape Fulgur I’s plans to kill her in the family code; Ashla started her growing life out in Raiaera. While living with her father, Ashla often times fell sick and was a lot of times taken to a hospital to be healed. When she was three, her father grew very ill himself and died. Her uncle, who had been visiting for his brother, decided to take Ashla in as his own.
While growing up with her uncle, Ashla had followed the rule of going by her mother’s virgin last name Rose. Monte kept her within his reach at all times and refused to let her – or her uncle – know anything of her roots. Monte had been able to keep Ashla’s identity secret until she was nine years old. When she was nine, he told her about her real last name and stated that she could use it instead of “Rose”. This was because Fulgur had already found out and had forced Monte not to tell her of her true heritage, but to still let her know that she was part of the family genetically. Ashla had been banned from all family traditions though, unknown to the child herself.
After her ninth year, Ashla was allowed to be in the public more. However, due to her isolated youth, she barely made any friends at all. When she was thirteen, she had been placed in ladies etiquette classes. After failing, her uncle made her a steel long sword and taught her how to fight instead. After another year, Monte and Fulgur became more fearful that she would learn the truth about their family. While Monte had been struggling to find ways to cover things up to a more and more observant Ashla; Fulgur I activated his plan to execute everybody in his family except his son and himself. The plot worked perfectly – except that when her uncle had been slain, a furious Ashla cut down the orc mercenaries that had been hired to cut them down.
After her uncle gave her his last words (“Flee”), Ashla smuggled herself out of the country in a merchant group’s horse-drawn trailer. The group had gone overseas on a galleon (Ashla smuggled herself in the lower decks) and landed in Fallien. Since then, Ashla had been caught by the merchants and driven off. Within the next two years, Ashla traveled from town to town in Fallien in attempts to figure out what to do with her life. She had been on one or two small adventures, which included meeting her future lover Julius Tabor, and helping a family win against their feuding neighbors. She had also found a kitten in a cave where his mother had been killed by a preying animal, and took the small cat under her wing.
After two years of travelling around Fallien, she met the Coralian Sorish Mon Larsh and her former best friend Iris. After she and Iris visited a crooked fairy’s home, left, then broke up in different paths, never to see each other again. Ashla finally left Fallien at that point, tired of her life as it was, and traveled to Corone for a brief time and engaged in a mistaken Citadel fight with a revenant. Afterwards, she traveled to Raiaera where she met an exiled prince only known as Black Shadow, and formed a strong bond with him. She also reconnected with Julius Tabor, and rebuilt their harshly broken ties. After being captured by Black Shadow’s father and used as bait, and later rescued; Ashla turned to Corone again where she met her cousin Fulgur II Icebreaker and finally learned the truth which Monte and Fulgur I had hid from her her entire life. After which, she teamed up with Fulgur to overthrow the person who had wrecked both of their lives and driven them from Eiskalt in the first place. This sparked yet, another civil war in the country which ended in Fulgur II beheading his father and taking over the crown. Afterwards, Ashla left Eiskalt realizing after the recent events she had been through that she finally had a destiny ahead of her – bringing justice and mercy to Althanas at large.
