Well, despite the title of this, I'm not entirely convinced this isn't another hoax.

But, has anyone else been following the emerging news of the unidentified object apparently tracked through the solar system to a soft-landing on the moon?

If this is a hoax, I applaud whoever perpetrated it, because even mainstream media is running with this story now.

So, what are my fellow Althanians thoughts on the subject - alien life in the universe; possible, probable, definite, or bullshit?

More to the point, without jumping to any sort of conclusion about any form of extraterrestial life, etc, etc, I'm more "Holy shit how awesome is that!?" about the giant Tetris block now allegedly sitting on the moon.

For the sake of covering both sides of this possible debate, here are the links for the original article, and a potential debunking:

Statistically near-certain... somewhere out there. Contact in our lifetime, that's just luck, and I welcome it. I'll sing a different song (in a high octave) if the abduction/anal probe cliche proves true.

Statistically possible. Now if that life is sentient to the degree of human life, that is uncertain. Evolution, if a true theory, seems to have taken special affections to the homosapians, but we do not have other animals building tools, houses, and organized civilizations. The degree to which these "alien" life forms would have technologically advanced to traverse the great seas of space is also a low statistic. So yes, there is certainly life out there in the billions of galaxies, but are they able to travel to distant systems or galaxies without expiring? Unlikely. Seeing as how a golf ball in space can cleave clean through a satellite, it is difficult to image a craft able to withstand the deadly variables of open space. Should something actually near earth, observation seems the most logical choice. Conquest seems unlikely considering our species's own nativity to the expanses of space. Unless some super-intelligent race still has an odd self serving desire to keep high maintenance pets?

Calm your britches, Star Wars isn't happening in our life time.

What is that saying... "If there isn't any other life forms its really a waste of space."

Also, there has been evidence, possibly, pointing to the presence of minor life forms, and I mean bacteria-type, upon some of Jupiters moons, like Io. There's also a few documetaries out there supporting this. But I don't believe in Aliens in our time that are going to take over the planet. District 9 is more likely than Independence Day (mostly because its a much better movie). Most UFOs are military weird things, like in Area 51, and crop circles are not made my aliens but people.

In my humble opinion.
