I've spent countless nights lying awake after scraps in the Citadel, wondering why I was always coming up short. I was--am--one of the best hand-to-hand fighters alive today. But apparently fists aren't enough; especially when you have shadow tentacle brats, superbitches, masters of magnetism, and gods know what else throwing spells and illusions at you when you can only throw fists.
My tinkering can only do so much for me. Lugging all that heavy shit halfway across town just for an afternoon beatdown wasn't really worth the time or effort. Even my designs for a wrist-mounted flamethrower required strapping two heavy copper tanks to my back, and then walking a good hour through the winding, busy streets of Radasanth.
And then it hit me.
My fifty foot length of delyn cable was collecting dust in my bedroom, next to my knuckledusters, throwing knives, and twin delyn daggers with some sweet spidersilk-wrapped hilts.
And here I am, giving life to all these nifty little toys with my new abilities and knowledge, while this all just sits there!
Why the hell aren't I experimenting on what I already have?!
I immediately rushed into my lab and tore apart my texts and notes, searching for the proper alchemic rune that would allow me to control my wires telekinetically, as I could before I made the deal with that demon for all my fun new tricks (which aren't proving to be very useful in the heat of battle). I spent a good hour making sure I had every single dot and dash correct for the rune, and then noted that I didn't have the materials necessary to actually emblazon it onto my cable. Shit, this means it's time for a trip to the bazaar.
I bolted upstairs, grabbed my coin purse and cable off the dresser, and then ran into the streets of Radasanth.
Soon after, I had rushed to my favorite alchemy shop, with a list of ingredients in hand. I burst through the door, causing my fellow alchemist who ran the joint to jump in surprise. "You! Sell me! List of items! Alchemic rune! Breakthrough!" I slammed the list of hastily-scrawled ingredients I'd need on the table in front of him." He old man picked it up, adjusted his glasses, and began browsing it.
I undid the clasp that kept my black sifan cloak around my shoulders, folding it neatly and setting it on the counter. "Look, I'm pretty sure I'm asking for quite a lot... I'm not exactly loaded at the moment; so I'd be willing to pawn off this cloak to help pay for the ingredients."
"Here's what I'm looking to do." I produced the coiled delyn cable and slammed it onto the counter as well. "I need the stuff on that list in order to mix into an alchemic mixture so I can use it to write a rune onto this cable. Do you have everything on that list in stock?"
Here's what I'm looking to do with the rune:
The rune will be placed at the exact halfway point on the cable, where it will rest against Madison's spine in thread where she has the cable with her (with the remaining length wrapped around both of her upper arms, natch)
The rune will allow Madison to control the cable with her thoughts from a range of forty feet
The cable can move through the air three times as fast as the average fit human being (in line with her abilities to build and operate constructs as listed in her profile)
The cable is able to push, pull, and lift with three times the strength of an average fit human being (in line with her abilities to build and operate constructs as listed in her profile)
Upon the completion of the transaction, I would also like to run with the assumption that Madison has gone through the process of etching the rune onto the cable herself, which she is fully able to do.
