Name: Caelam
Age: 78 (appears to be in his late twenties)
Race: High Elf
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Amber
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 145 lbs
Occupation: Wandering sorceror

Personality: Distant but courteous in his dealings with others, Caelam is possessed of a grim and sometimes incredibly bitter demeanor. His dealings with death and the darker magics in his travels have fostered a solemn gravity in the youth. He is torn between upholding his own flagging morals and doing what is necessary to survive. Caelam finds enthusiasm to be abrasive and tends to avoid close relationships, preferring to keep people at an arm's length. Even eye contact is avoided whenever possible. When annoyed or threatened he will often turn caustic, his acerbic sense of humor supplying a barrage of cutting insults and sarcastic remarks.

Appearance: With clear, angular features framed by messy blonde hair that falls down around his pointed ears, Caelam would be handsome if not for his constant expression of sorrow. His hollow gaze and the bruises beneath his almond eyes speak of a man plagued by questions and terrified of the answers he seeks. Travel-stained robes cover his slender frame. It is rare to find him without his sleeves rolled up and his hands splattered with ink from recording his findings.

History: Caelam refuses to speak of his past and becomes rather agitated whenever it's addressed. However it is known that he was born in Raeira and schooled in the art of magic there. Why he left is also a mystery, though it may have something to do with rumors that his interest in necromancy is not purely academic.

Skills:

Scholar: Caelam lives for knowledge and is constantly poring over some old tome or another. While severely lacking in any real world experience when it comes to most topics, he is well versed in magical theory, political and military strategy, history, and economics.

Mage: As a student of the craft, Caelam can usually detect when magic is at work and identify most basic spells.

Survival: Caelam has been wandering the road for the last five years and knows basic skills for surviving in the wild.

Melee (quarterstaff): Though he's never handled a blade larger than a kitchen knife, Caelam is skilled with his quarterstaff. An expert at delivering crippling, debilitating blows and fending off attacks from all manner of weaponry, the Elf has never wanted for a sword.

The Devil's Ear: Raising an army of corpses is not necromancy's only use. Caelam can consort with the spirits of the dead, and they sometimes deign to answer his questions. However full disclosure is never guaranteed.

Abilities:

Novice Electromancy: Caelam can conjure bolts of electricity capable of leaving minor burns and knocking a full grown man to the ground. Can be used a total of three times before Caelam needs to rest and regain his focus.

Meager Ward: Once per thread Caelam can defend against a single offensive novice-level spell.

Resuscitate: Caelam can raise a single weak creature- such as a goblin or imp- from the dead once per thread. The creature is bound to his will for the duration of the spell. The effects are not permanent, lasting twenty-four hours. When in battle the additional strain on Cael's focus reduces the time to 3 posts. Any mortal wound to the creature or to Caelam will dissolve the bond.

Equipment: An oak quarterstaff, 6' in length. A satchel crammed full of scrolls and tomes on assorted topics.

Howdy!

How much damage does that lighting do? And how often can he use it?

What sort of creature strength are we talking about? And is there a length of time it can be summoned for, or until it does?

Ok. At the moment your lighting bolt and summon are a bit over a starting level ability. Can you reduce the strength of your bolt, and put a time limit on your summon?

For the summon, would 24 hours be acceptable, or...?
As for the lightning bolt, which aspect needs to be reduced? The power of the bolt or the frequency with which he can use it?

For the bolt, you could reduce either. The damage might be easier.

24 hours should be fine. Is this an ability you plan to use in battles? If so, can you limit it to 3 posts (in quests it can 24 hours)
