"Over here, Bring them over here!" a young woman calls out as the tries to coral many of the citizens away from the fighting and bombing going on in the city. The sounds of women and children crying reverberate throughout the area only masked by the frequent explosions heard in the distance. And with each explosion a new pillar of smoke begins billowing over the city's skyline.
The woman trying to help out the flustered crowd is obviously just another citizen, nobody special but in times of war even a single person can help. She directs them down an alley way between two buildings that leads out towards the allied main encampment. "This way!" She tries again as she grabs hold of a small child who seems to have lost their parent. Many of the people in the crowd look sick and hurt as they flee, and it is apparent that this war had even separated entire families from one another. After the last of the flurried people are off the main street and going in the right direction the lady scoops up the young one and begins her retreat also.
Dein Vander a young blooded mage recruited to help out in the war by Lady Kyla herself had set up a small station down the alley way. Here he would do what is needed to heal the fleeing refugees as the pass bye, as many of the people trying to escape are also falling ill to foreign disease. If war wasn't enough most of the fatalities on the streets are not due to a battle wound but from this illness.
Prior to his deployment into this war, Dein had been asked to lend a hand in fighting not just the soldiers but primarily this strange illness. Lady Kyla the new leader of the Ixain Knights and commander of the allied forces, had asked him to contain this disease as best as possible. Despite having many reservations to the thought of joining a war in a nation he hadn't been familiar with Dein accepted his task.
"War..." Dein says to himself as he sits hunched over a man who appears to be very ill. Just the thought of it brings thoughts of sadness and pain over him. Dein sets his hands over the mans heart, "Not another one." he thinks as his vision blurs, the man passed. "I didn't get to him in time." he thinks as he turn to see a line of six or so makeshift beds all occupied by sick citizens. Lucky he had been able to recruit two others to help him in his little tent, though they were just healthier refugees good for keeping fever down and crowd control.
Every couple minuets a group of people would run down the alley attempting to flee the explosions hear and there, and more times than not they wouldn't stop. Though many of them hadn't shown the trade mark symptom of the sickness. With this particular sickness Dein had noticed a swelling around the neck. "Right this way, C'mon keep moving!" A woman's voice echoes down as the next big group runs past his tent.
Out of the corner of Dein's eye he notices that a strong willed woman is directing a frazzled crowd, a look of comfort on her face. "That's a strange sight." Dein thinks as he moves to the next patient in his tent, lowering his hands on them and beginning his treatment. Dein is versed in the healing arts he had learned from his former master, the head cleric of his village.
"Good," He says as it looks like this patient is reacting positively to his treatment. The disease has begun to show a pattern with every treatment, if he can treat it early enough it can be cured. Deins hopes lighten as the swelling reduces on the lad he was treating. By now the crowd of fleeing people had passed, but standing in the entryway to Dein tent stood the woman from earlier and in her arms she cradles a young girl.
"H-help..." The woman's voice breaks up as she tries to get the young mage's attention. Dein turn his head to look at her and she immediately collapses. Her body seeming to give out as she hits the ground but making sure that the child stayed on top of her. Dein and his two assistants drop what they are doing and rushes over to her, Dein grabs the little girl as the other two pick up the woman to lay her down on the only spare bed.
Dein sits the girl on the bedside of the woman, this girl could only be two or maybe three years of age. Dein gives her a quick look over and sees that she is bruised and scuffed but doesn't seem to have the illness. Quickly turning to his other new patient Dein sees that her neck is indeed swelling and it looks like it has been for a wile.
"This is not good." he thinks to himself as he places his hands on her chest.
Ciato Orlouge

"So....Sei is not here."
"How can you be sure, Father?"
"If he was, then we'd have had our bodies melted by his eyesight by now," the conversation between Ciato Orlouge and Pesto Orlouge continued as they made their way down the disease ridden streets of Eiksalt. The nobleman Mystic had decided to bring his son with him on this trip to show the boy the beautiful symphony that could erupt fro war and the deaths of hundreds. Each scream and death moan added to an already well versed chorus of chaos, one that only Ciato and his ilk seemed to hear. He waved his hand around as if he were a maestro and the plague of Eiksalt were his orchestra.
"If you knew that Sei would not come, why did you agree to join this war? Is your aim not to end his life?" Pesto walked beside his father, a good foot higher than the alabaster psychopath. His hair reached down to his shoulders, and there were hints of white stubble that dotted across the youth's face. Pesto was not as like-minded as his father, as he often reviewed the philosophy behind bloodshed than the actual carnage of it all. Ciato had thought that if the teenager had witnessed his father's blood lust first hand, then perhaps he too would aide the Serpent of Salvar in his quest to extinguish the life flames of brethren.
"Because Lichensith concocted such a harmonious strategy, I could not idle by while the rest of the Order had so much fun. Listen, Pesto, listen to the death throes of those who have no hope left. The 'evil' Ixians have brought with them a plague the likes of which this country has never seen. It is truly a glorious moment in the history of humankind. Genocide always makes for the best crescendo." Ciato often compared his love for murder with his only other love; music and the art thereof.
The streets of Eiksalt smelt of death. There were not enough carts to wheel out their dead, and there seemed to be a constant echo of children's cries down the wide streets. As they walked, they managed to pick up several conversations about saviors. Apparently, the Ixian Knights had made an encampment just outside of the inner city and had been busy preaching about salvation through medicine. Ciato thought nothing of this, mostly due to the fact that he knew the Ixians probably kept their most proficient healers back in Corone. It was not until Pesto said something that brought a tinge of dread within the Aleraran Apparition,.
"Huh, I wonder if Aislinn is there with them."
Aislinn Orlouge, daughter of Ciato's older brother, Succed, was as well versed in the medicinal arts as her father was at almost any spell type. The very notion that she would be present for the war caused Ciato to stop his strut altogether. If Aislinn developed a cure for the spreading pandemic, his symphony would stop before the overture. He grit his teeth, a nasty grind sound escaping from pursed lips. "We have to find her, -now-."
"Father, this is merely speculat--and he's gone."
Ciato had not heard a word uttered by his offspring. He was far too busy trying to find this enclosure of healing.
((the next poser may bunny Ciato coming into the Ixian encampment. Given his relationship to Kyla, the guards would probably let him through without conflict.))
The sounds of war echo threw the area where Dein had set up his encampment, often fallowed buy eerie sounds of people's suffering. The smell of death had begun to waft into his tent and burn his nostrils as Dein tried vigorously to treat his newest patient. This woman had proven her strength and will to live already by leading others to safety even taking care of a child not her own. Though even after pushing thus far she still has contracted the deadly plague afflicting this nation.
Dein's mind rushed as he began treating this woman, seeing her symptoms means that her chances were slim at best. "It must have been transmitted in the water supply." He had come to a conclusion. Dein's hand begins to glow as his magic had started taking effect repairing her damaged tissues. This is a sign of his treatment working fighting the illness in her body. Slightly relieved Dein relaxes and remembers the child that this woman had brought in with her.
"She cant possibly be older than four or five," His heart sank as he pictured this little girl having to suffer threw this. " she doesn't seem to really understand what's happening." The look on her face was one of pure curiosity and childish ignorance, as if she thought everybody was just playing a game. Still no signs of the illness showing in her but the chances were high that she too had contracted it.
The others in the tent were still trying their best to keep the sick calm wile Dein tended to his patient at hand. And amongst the chaos around them Dein had noticed the presence of another standing in the door way of the encampment, a stranger watching him. Without stopping his magic Dein turns to look at the person. His long red hair obscuring his view of the man, but with his skill in medicine Dein can tell he has not been effected buy the plague. Along with his attire he definitely doesn't fit the bill for a plain old citizen.
"Who are you, do you need medical attention?" Dein calls out in his direction. Not expecting to actually hive him the attention immediately if he needs it. His full focus is on the woman in front of him and the little girl sitting next to him. "And if your looking for trouble please leave, im in no mood to deal with this." Arrogantly trying to play off that he is a powerful fighter if the stranger did turn out to be an enemy.
Dazed, beautiful, and bruised. It was a state of being Ruby Winchester was not all too happy to experience. Familiar, sadly, but she would rather a glass of Shiraz for company, not a curved spine and blackened skin. Appearing in a crackle of quicksilver, mercury in hue and temperament, she frowned. Eiskalt, in her absence, had taken a turn for the worse.
“At least my husband’s aim with the orrery is true,” much less said for his prowess elsewhere. “Ciato!”
Standing abreast of a brewing confrontation, the spell singer spread her legs, tense her muscles, and unsheathed Lucrezia. A sense of the dramatic followed her through the maelstrom, whipping her red tendrils of hair to life like support cast members to her brewing rage.
“Ciato Orlouge!” The reprise was a direct challenge to the man some two hundred feet away attesting to the mystic’s presence here. Ruby did not need to ask – whatever he was doing, the murderous cur, it was not to support the efforts of the natives strive for survival. “Leave, or follow the same fate as you other bastard ‘Hands’.”
The inner city heaved as her breath drew in the tension. Not too far away, poison decimated, preaching salved, and madness meandered along cobbled boulevards and bloody brasserie boardwalks. All across the city, Chronicle’s agents began to turn the tide from genocide to grievance; grains of sand falling swift through a searing needle’s eye.
“I will not ask you again, do you understand?” Her voice burnt air.

“Felicity, go find Kylanna in the castle and be quick about it. Then you can tell her if Ciato is not supposed to be in the camp, that she had better hurry because there will be a death in the family if she is not quick,” The words were a spoken order as a small black cat was deposited on the ground. A cloak covered the frail form of a woman who’s jaw was set in a grimace. Teeth in a predatory grin were all that could be seen as worn boots marched forward into the encroaching camp that sought to lessen the pain and suffering that had accosted the poor country of Eiskalt.
Aislinn Orlouge had taken to the field.
Moving with a grace her staff smacked hard against the ground with each step. The cat kept pace with the woman who stepped forward and meowed for attention only to get ignored as strands of scarlet hair entered into the light only to be pulled back into the hood. That predatory smile, mirthless and full of teeth was plastered on her face as she looked upon the man before her. Such was her focus she almost missed out on the red headed man who was healing the sick and Ruby Winchester. Finally she spoke her tone echoing through the area.
“Look what crawled out from under a rock. Tell me uncle have you come to abandon more family to the wolves?” The words held an accusatory tone as she pointed forth with the stump on her right arm. Flames burst from the appendage as a fiery finger pointed at the elder Mystic, “I’ll be polite and give you a chance to flee like the beaten dog you are. If you aren’t gone before my patience runs thin I will not hesitate to give you the punishment I promised you back in Concordia.”
She could hear the whispers of Aqshy and Shyish in her ears, fire and death speaking to her in her impassioned moment, You give too much of a chance servant. Burn him to the ground. He cost you your hand, he cost you your sanity. He is the reason you-
For the first time Aislinn spoke aloud letting all fear for her sanity be validated as she cursed, “Shut up, I don’t need your prattle in my ears, I know well what he has done to me!”
"This is not good, there were not supposed to be any enemies here." Dein thinks to himself as he looks back over the woman he had been treating. Then over to the young girl who had nodded off leaning against her legs, the child had exhausted herself. "I cant tend to these people, if im having to fend for my own life." His decisions had become to mount on each other. On one hand he would have to defend himself and on the other his job as a former cleric is to help these people.
"No, what am I thinking?" Dein snaps back as he thinks back to Lady Kyla's orders, simply tend to the sick. His decision as had already been made for him.
His course set, Dein leans down an nudges the little girl to make sure she was still asleep. Seeing that she was snoozing contently he looked over to the woman who had been responding well to his medical magic. He had done his job here whatever happens next is still to protect these people.
Dein turns and looks at the two intruders with his reflexes ready.
