The following is a list of special materials on Althanas. These materials may not be purchased in the Bazaars except in extremely rare circumsances. (In other words, don't ask. If you have to ask if something constitutes extremely rare circumstances, then it doesn't.)

For a list of materials that are sold, see this thread (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=2577).

* Adamantine: This substance can never break or lose its edge, nor be reforged by any art known to today’s world. Adamantine can appear as either a tan stony substance or a steely metallic substance, and is incredibly rare and expensive. Like Dehlar, it is resistant to magic but difficult to enchant. Adamantine items are relics from a time before and during the Wars of the Tap, and can only be made by a mage using the entire Eternal Tap – as such, no adamantine items have been made since the end of those wars. This renders the substance extremely rare. It is completely unavailable in any regional Bazaar, because anyone who has it is going to keep it.

* Icemold: Icemold is a synthetic material unique to Salvar. While what exactly it's made of and how it is made are well-kept secrets, it's a widely known fact that it's one of the best materials on Althanas. It is a shiny substance of translucent blue that projects a mild sense of cold, although it will never melt under direct sunlight. Icemold weapons are renowned for being able to slice straight through anything--even adamatine. However, they are so brittle that they shatter on impact, truly making them one-use weapons. Pieces of armor can also be coated in icemold, making the armor capable of withstanding a single blow from any weapon or magical attack. These armor coatings, however, also shatter when they are struck. A single piece of icemold equipment will probably cost you a fortune, but it could well prove worth it.

* Ancient Dragonscale, Bone, and Horn: See the description on the main materials list for information on these materials. Ancient variants of Dragon products are stronger, but Ancient dragons are also equivalent to level 10 characters, so be careful when dealing with them.

* Demon hide: The stripped flesh cut from Haidian demons. A marvelous mixture of scale and flesh, the material is among the hardest to come across. Good resistance against heat, as well as superb resistance against slashing attacks. Coloration: most often, red, green, black, or brown. Realm: Haidia. Due to the fact that Haidia looks very unkindly on its citizens being hunted for their skin, most nations have banned its sale. Most items of demon hide are relics from the Demon War. So, as with adamantine, anyone who has one is going to keep it.

* Gorian'fel Hide: In great quantities, the gray hide can disrupt the holder's mental function. A small amount, however can simply be helpful in scrambling telekinetic and telepathic intrusion. A favorite of spies, savants, and mentalists, the material also blocks the use of telekinetics and telepathic skills by the wearer. Not really serving as any protection other than for those who feel that their knowledge isn't safe - even in their own heads! Gorian'fel are nocturnal creatures of Corone, and rarely come out of their underground dwellings; furthermore, Corone has banned the hide in order to protect the animal. There is rumored to be a thriving black market in Concordia, though, which sells this skin for a high price.

* Sea Serpent Scale: Layered armor taken from the scaly hide of a sea-serpent. Pigment depends on the race, gender, and depths from which the monster was taken. These scales are finely knitted together, much like snake's scales. They provide increased resistance to cold, and can provide a conduit to channel magic energies. The Salvarans are very jealous of these scales, and guard them intensely, though they might be available on the black market.

* Root Walker Husk: This bark is taken from warrior-trees of the various Althanian forests. Coloration usually is limited to brown and dark green. VERY dangerous creatures when provoked, these gentle-giants' flesh have properties similar to the wood they originally sprang from, in addition to extra protection against blunt trauma and piercing. Due to the danger required for obtaining these, they are not offered for general sale in the Bazaars. The better their wood, the more danger it will take to get it.

* Njalian Spidersilk: The Njalian magi, undead wood elven/spider hybrids with a voracious appetite for the living, would sooner tear off all eight of their legs than let someone get at their silk. Their ability to melt into the shadows makes them a hard target to spot. Their silk is totally impervious to slashing and piercing attacks from normal weaponry. Vulnerable to fire, this valuable material should be kept away from heat at all costs. This silk is so strong that one strand can support almost 250 pounds. But you're not finding this in the Bazaar: anyone who worked hard enough to get it is not selling it.
