The Thread that Never Happened...

I'm pretty sure we all had this in our writings: we have the perfect idea for an epic thread... then we lose inspiration and we never actually post it. It's happened to me several times, I have story ideas then I leave them in the dust! So, here's something fun we can do: What would have happened in those threads that never happened? Would your character have changed? Stay the same? What people (NPCs) would they have met?

So, what was that thread that never happened?

[Ashla]

Here's some of mine:

- Ashla and Julius go refurbish and live in Ashla's dad's old house in the place of the High Elves... I thought it would be too boring. :/
- Ashla meets a forgotten sibling??? Uh, not possible.
- Ashla gets sick and almost dies... Probably will still happen, but not in a solo.
- Ashla witnesses Julius unlocking his true Tabor abilities on his seventeenth birthday. Just no time...
- Solo, origin thread for Dawn FlameShadow.
- Julius randomly killing people during his years as a bandit.

[Otto]

Don't need monsters and magic to turn something into a good read... just some interesting ideas, good expression and solid characters, though I find a dash of mystery/intrigue always goes down well.

As for my own threads that I haven't done, I can only think of one. It was to be a shameless spoils thread in which Otto hits on a bard, but I think that if I tried it now, Resolve would kick him in the trousers so hard he'd be speaking falsetto for a week.

[Erikar]

I don't see why this is "The Thread that Never Happened" as opposed to "The Threads that have yet to Happen!" It's never too late! Even so, I'll go ahead and post some ideas I've yet to get around to.

-Erikar's childhood as an urchin in Radasanth. This would include beating other children, stealing, and possibly a student-mentor story where Erikar learns his thief-skills.

- Stories of his travels as a caravan guard throughout Althanas(although, technically, I am writing one of these with Tobi and Caelam right now.)

- How Erikar learns the science behind Electromagnetism, resulting in increased expertise using his powers.

[Rayse Valentino]

The Bitter King (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?23636-The-Bitter-King) was originally supposed to be done with Slayer of the Rot. Then Relt's alt. Finally Revenant. I imagine it would be quite different based on the characters involved. Oddly enough, events I envisioned for Slayer and Relt's alt I kept in and they still worked. An NPC I used, Meredith, has the same name as Slayer's daughter. I'm sure it would've ended differently if Revenant was still around as well.

Also, this thread is only part 1. Part 2 would necessitate Revenant's return.

For Lack of Empathy (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?22883) involved the deceased Lord Anglekos. I tried to find replacements for a while, but nobody has a character that fits the role as well as his did and nobody wanted to play as an NPC.

The Prince of Counterpoise (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?11421-The-Prince-of-Counterpoise&highlight=counterpoise) was pretty far along when Call Me J before he vanished. I can't bear to finish it without him.

A few Dorian threads never finished: The Wyverns of Ahyark, Bane of the Dragonets, The Sesthali Project, with Ataraxis and Visla.

To get Kylin Rouge out of the way, he was gonna save the world. There was a lot I wanted to do, but after the first crash I lost interest. Canonically I guess he's responsible for mostly purging the world of The Miasma crystal that's like kryptonite for Mystics.

For thread concepts, I never wrote the events surrounding Rayse's 'magical sickness', I almost had a thread with BlackAndBlueEyes about it.

Bloodrose and I were gonna do a bunch of The Company stuff. All of our threads together were JCs and even his solo The Company stuff got a JC, so there was a lot of potential there. One involved poisoning the leaders of Coronian organizations after forming partnerships with them, and then strong-arming their successors or something. Mortal Intervention was gonna have 2 more threads related to it.

Smokin' Rayses, a parody of Smokin' Aces where Rayse gets a big bounty on his head and he's at the top of a tall tower that would've been The Company's HQ, and a bunch of mercenaries are fighting each other trying to get to him.

A big heist concept where a mysterious benefactor hires 4 people, Rayse included, to pull off a huge heist of some sort. I wanted to do a bunch of stuff with Godhand but then he became a migrant laborer in South/Central America or something.

A thread with Slayer involving Rayse finding his daughter (who is almost as crazy as he is), and blackmailing Slayer into attacking the Ixians/stealing Thayne artifacts from them.

I dunno what else. There are a bunch of character concepts that never went anywhere, but that sounds like a totally different thread to talk about it.

Also it seems like I can only write action/crime thrillers. I'm not very good at romance, drama, mystery, or slice of life, something i'd like to work on.

edit: Escape From Ettermire, young Rayse gets locked up and needs to do a prison break.
