((I had hoped to finish Snakes and Ladders before running this update, but I'm afraid using Dorian has shown me that his old profile is simply not tenable for the character I'm envisioning, so I'm going ahead and post the level 1 update and finish Snakes and Ladders using liquid time later. There are some pretty significant tweaks in skills and abilities, mainly to make him plausible in a match. I don't want Dorian to be a formidable fighter compared to others of his level, by any means, but he does need to be able to hold his own for more than one or two posts, especially if I intend to use him ever in tournaments. Since I'm changing a lot in this profile and perhaps excessively complicating my character's powers, a moderator might want to treat it as a special case and give it special attention. I wasn't quite sure what to do with Dorian at level 0, but I'm getting a hold of my direction now.))

History
Since the history in this thread (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?1860-Point-and-Counterpoint&highlight=ionos), Dorian has engaged in one major exploit.
Called to serve for a period of time as Visiting Composer for the King of Salvar, as well as teach a coterie of Salvaran fledglings under the King's protection, Dorian was present in the Cathedral of Ettermire as the forces of the Ethereal Sway and others rose up against the King. Dragged into the conflict by the King's steward, Ashiakin, Dorian and Ashiakin attempted to flee through an underground corridor in the Cathedral.
The corridor, however, contained a broken magical apparatus similar to the ones used by the Citadel Monks in preparing the battle rooms at that august establishment. It was unstable, however, and began spinning visions that Dorian struggled mightily to escape from. His companions vanished, and he walked in the visions for some time. When he finally returned, he did not remember what had happened, but found his knowledge of the Song Stone strangely enhanced.

Composition
Dorian can compose songs, ballads, orchestras, showstopping stage numbers -- he is skilled across genres. But by composing in certain specific musical modes, he can imbue a song he writes with magical effects. The effects he can create are as follows:
Ionian - Illusions and ensorcelling magic
Dorian - Defensive magic
Phrygian - Preservation magic
Lydian - Attack magic
Mixolydian - Imbuing items with magical effects
Aeolian - Holy Magic, useful against undead and in binding energies
Locrian - Healing Magic
At the conclusion of any thread, Dorian may request as a spoil the right to craft one spell-music from only one of these disciplines. If Dorian did not actively compose the music in the thread, the requested spoil MUST somehow show the way in which the events of the thread gave Dorian the inspiration to craft that specific piece of music. Moderators, as always, can approve or deny these spoils. Crafted spells will go into Dorian's songbook. Dorian need not perform the music, but the magic only works for him and will take effect if any performer within Dorian's earshot completes the music.
Requested spoils must not exceed normal RoG requirements for spells at Dorian's level, and Dorian MUST list currently crafted spells in every update profile for the mod to appropriately balance their power.
Dorian can make a number of pieces of music in each area equal to one-half of his level, rounded down, but cannot go below 1 available spell per level (so at level 1, he has 1 per area). In order to use the spell in a thread, the piece of music must be played in its entirety, with certain exceptions -- pieces of music must be at least two minutes long, making it difficult to cast them quickly. Dorian is more like a ritual caster than a battle mage, with a few exceptions listed below (See Song Stone section).
If Dorian makes a new spell that would put the number of spells he is allowed in each mode past its requirement, he must eradicate another spell to make room.

Dorian may have one spell from each of the seven modes in his songbook.
Ionian - Nothing composed
Dorian - A simple percussive rhythm which goes through several variations and developments, and upon completion surrounds the caster with a protective shield of the desired element.
Phrygian - Nothing composed
Lydian - At the conclusion of an etude on a harp or other plucked string instrument, a torrent of a desired element extends from the Dorian's fingertips for six seconds. Dorian can stop the flow of the element and start it up again, but once the song ends he only has two minutes in which to begin and complete the use of the spell before the magic fades.
Mixolydian - Dorian can imbue an existing weapon with a desired elemental power following a short performance of a lieder. The effect lasts for up to three posts unless cancelled by Dorian or an external force.
Aeolian - Nothing Composed
Locrian - Nothing composed
The Song Stone
The Song Stone can project each note of the scale, from A to G, in one octave. Dorian suspects it is capable of other octaves, but is unable to get it to that point as of now. He can only elicit its magical effects, however, when holding it and his Engraved Runic Baton at the same time. Each note has a specific associated element. (In the songbook above, anytime "a desired element" is mentioned, Dorian can alter the element in the spell by transposing the music into a different key before performing. The exception is with prepared spells, noted below, which are bound to an element when they are prepared. Not every element is useful for every spell. A shield of Spirit, for instance, is not as useful as one of Fire, and a blast of Light is probably effective in only highly specific circumstances.)

The flame does not burn extremely hot, but will cause burns if left on bare skin for a moment and can combust wooden or paper items, or even leather if left on the surface long enough. The flame will not burn or melt most normal metals in use by Althanas's regular PC coterie or even most NPCs. If the whip is snapped, the effect ends and cannot be resummoned for half a day, though Fire Spray can still be used.
2) Elemental Spray: A single blast of an element that lasts for about half a second and must recharge over the next ten seconds While all elements may one day have some limited power, currently only two are worth noting.
2e) Fire: about as hot as the whip and the diameter of a quarter.
2f) Wind: Dorian can fire a single blast of air from the tip of the baton at immediate speeds of 45-50 mph within a limited range of 10 feet. However, the force goes both ways, and in order to use this skill without toppling over he must plant his feet and put some muscle into it.
3) Elemental Production: Dorian can produce the element from the tip of his baton in small quantities. One is worth noting:
3c) Water: Dorian can make a lot of water. You know. For drinking. He gets thirsty okay! Do you want me to come up with some sort of number? Fine! Dorian can produce a gallon of water in 5 minutes. He's going to open a bottling company. He will make SO MUCH GP selling bottles of water. Oh wait, he can't make plastic. Nevermind.
3a) Light: Dorian can produce enough light from his baton to match a normal oil lantern's output.

3d) Earth: Dorian can make some soil. Not much. Maybe enough for a terrarium.
