Mini Althanacon 2014

As those of you who listen to the podcast know, Andy (BlackandBlueEyes) and myself have thrown around the idea of a Mini Althanacon quite a few times when we've hungout. I've decided, what with his move coming up in the next two months roughly, that now would be an appropriate time to actually propose the idea to the rest of Althanas.

Right now, the rough location is Niagara Falls, whether the Canadian side or the American side will depend on passport issues. (If we have a bunch of Americans that want to come, but don't have passports, obviously it'll be held on the American side, and vice versa for us Canadians). The estimated date is sometime in April.

Right now the roster is as follows:

This is pretty last minute, and we're all rather scattered, so we're not expecting half the forum to show up, but if you're interested, this is the thread for us to work out the details in.

I'm going to be in Columbus, Ohio for a long weekend around this (http://www.backporchcomics.com/space.htm) (April 12-13) and staying with Pepita/Christoph some of that time, and I've been bribing Warpath with comics to stop in. Since I'm going to be out that way then and will be going out there again in May for the Toronto show, it's pretty unlikely that I'd be able to make it out an extra time.

On one hand that's : ( because I'd like to be able to meet you guys too, but on the other hand, that might mean there's a second mini-Althanascon? And if you count me and Lye being in the same place a week from now, that counts as a mini-mini-Althanascon! It's an exciting spring for this site, I guess.

Edit: I meant to say that if anyone else lives near C-bus, we should figure something out!

I'd be willing to set up a mid-Atlantic Althanicon in the Washington D.C. area if folks are interested.

I know there are quite a few of you within driving distance. I'd even consider doing it the same weekend as Canadalthanicon so that we can video chat them on the big screen.

I have a good but sort of weird job. Good in that it is very secure and pays well, but not so good in that it's secure because two people depend on me to do their jobs on a daily basis and my days off are spread out throughout the week. Normally that'd mean I really wouldn't have time to visit anybody more than a couple hours away from me.

Long story short, rumors are going around that they're going to change our schedule so that we'll get two days off in a row (Sunday and Monday), and start late on Tuesday. If this happens before various Althanananacons, I'll be heading out and meeting as many people as I can. Both Columbus and Niagra are about four hours away from me, which are doable if I have a couple of days off in a row, but not so much if I don't.

Just learned my brother is moving to Cali. So when I decide to visit him in the future, I expect to meet up with you and your brother as a mini althy con. I guess if you want, I could bring Naphe too, but the consensus suggests that would be a bad idea. :p

Technically having a mini Althancon right now as I chill in Andy's living room!

Warpath, I'm not sure how well a Sunday-Monday con would work for Andy and I. Well, I know for a fact it wouldn't do for Andy. He's a radio DJ and thus it's practically impossible for him to get time off during the week. For me it would be hard to request any time off as I'm starting a new job in a week, which was why we were just going to do a Saturday-Sunday thing. I don't know if you're able to book off Saturdays at your work or not. :S

Yeah, the idea would be to try and get a single Saturday off and then I'd be able to hang out that day. Like, head out on Friday after work, hang out Saturday, head back Sunday.

Not sure yet, waiting to see where everything settles over the next couple weeks. I dunno, it doesn't look super feasible yet, but these things never do for me until I get everything hammered out.

All right, it would be pretty sweet if you could get a Saturday off, but Andy and I understand if you can't. Work schedules can be tricky.
