View Full Version : No bunny knows the trouble I've seen

No Bunny Knows
03-24-14, 08:41 PM
Name: Poppy Jambody
Age: 13 (equivalent to a human's early 20's)
Race: Leporidae
Eye Color: blue
Fur Color: white
Height: 5'11”
Weight: 267lbs
Ears: Lop-eared about 1 1/2” long
Occupation: sleeper agent

Personality: Sweet and clumsy to an extreme, Poppy is very curious and enthusiastic about anything new. Seemingly a country hare, Poppy displays a very non-hare lack of wanting children, preferring to roam and get into mischief. On rare occasions, there are glints of a startling shrewdness accompanied by a distinct lack of clumsiness.

Racial Traits:

Lifespan – A typical hare lifespan is 40-50 years.
Offence – Hares have short claws (though many file them) and can kick a man hard enough to send him sprawling.
Mobility – A hare can jump one and a half meters straight up and can keep pace with any standard breed of horse. Reaching top speed takes some time, though.
Durability – Their fur provides little more protection than human skin would.
Endurance – Due to their high metabolism, an untrained hare will tire twice as quickly as a human. Extreme exertion, such as a lengthy run, will require a big meal beforehand.
Immunity (or lack thereof) – Hares are highly susceptible to poisons. They will feel the effects twice as strongly as a human, but will burn through the poison twice as quickly.
Hearing – Hares have far better hearing than a human. They can hear a pin drop in the next room or a horse rising over the next hill. (Poppy's hearing is slightly worse than the average bunny, as she cannot raise her ears more than a few inches up. 'Radar' location of sounds is beyond a lop- eared bunny.)
Sight – They have excellent range of vision, but difficulty focusing on distant objects.
Smell – A hare can detect delicious greenery, high tea, or other things dozens of meters away. They are poor trackers, though.

Equipment:

Plum Bomb and Rose Thorn– A 15ft length of cording (cotton saturated in resin, slightly resistant to shearing damage) with a small plum shaped piece of cinderite (iron equivalent) weighing 6 lbs on one end. On the other end of the cord is secured a small hand scythe weighing 2 lbs.

Briar Patch – A small bundle of rolled cloth and leather that holds a rotating assortment of small blades. Currently, the Briar Patch houses 4 slender stiletto-like cinderite blades, each no longer than 3” in length and 1/2” in width.

Skills:

Bunny Hop – A swift hop up into the air followed by a double-footed hard kick to the target's chest, and then a graceful landing a few steps back. Learned in single bunny self-defense classes.

Twirly Hoppy Dance – Typically, a frenzied series of hops and twirls as Poppy builds up momentum with her corded weapon. Proficient at busting heads.

Country Bunny – Better endurance than the Royal Hare Forces soldiers while fighting in a mostly stationary setting. Becomes tired after a short run/ completely exhausted after sprinting 200 yards.

Abilities:

Quiet Stalking: Used only in moments when Poppy is not being a dumb bunny. Moves slower to maintain near silence.

High Tea: A near failure of a spell as Poppy summons tea and all of it's normally delicious accompaniments. Ex: Luke warm tea, lack-luster sandwiches (mustard and watercress, peanut butter and cucumber, etc.) and excellent, adventurous jams. She is a Jambody, after all.

History: The horrendous sounds of upbeat nasally singing filled the air as Poppy glanced around at the bland, stone floored room. The room was harshly illuminated by a profusion of over-head lamps unlike anything Poppy had ever before seen. While she spotted no hint of flickering flame she just barely caught the sound of a metallic buzz. One long wall was covered floor to ceiling with mirrors, broken only with a wooden pole secured horizontally the length of the wall. A horrified, indignant squeak filled the air, counter point to the base heavy music as Poppy caught sight of her reflection.

“Stars and Stones! What am I wearing?” She exclaimed, bounding across the empty room to examine the overly bright small clothes covering her. Shifting her ears experimentally against the narrow band of cloth clinging to her forehead, Poppy tugged at the cloth, finding it as stretchy as it was an eye gouging bright shade of green. An excess of the same cloth wrapped about each lower leg, bunching into ungainly lumps up and down the length of them. Clinging, tight cloth of bright, bright pink covered her body. Her downy white fur poofed out from deep cut vees on her upper chest and back, while a small circular hole allowed for her cotton tail to peek out.

“Work it girl!” A familiar, shrill, hyper-active voice sang out behind Poppy, startling her out of her inspections of the fingerless orange gloves on her paws that were more holes than substance. Glancing up, Poppy saw no reflection in the mirror other than her own. Then she turned around.

“Oh... oh my...” Poppy said limply as she stared at the familiar form of Onyx Calico.
“It's Twirly Hoppy Time! We gotta train my sleeper assassin bunny good. So get your game face on!”

This was going to be a long dream, she just knew it.

“You have to be ready because you're going to go on an adventure with Unkie Butters and his friend,” Calico burbled happily as Poppy slowly shuffled across the room to take up the Plum Bomb and Rose Thorn. Her gaze fixed on the eye gouging contrasts of Calico's neon pink encased feline form versus the soft grey and brown fur.

“Uh, what? Where are we going?”

“A maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagical place called Althanas. It's another world, don'tcha know.”

“Al... Althan, what? ...where?” Poppy wondered for a moment if it were possible to faint inside a dream, then gave Calico a wane smile.

“You're going to have sooo much fun!”
