Name: Ral Zaren
Age: 16
Race: Human
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Green
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 140 lb
Occupation: Artificer Apprentice
Personality: Ral is a child who is always going out of his way to gain favor from his master, and will settle for attention from anyone else. He isn't above pulling tricks on the town bully, or helping another child by fixing a broken toy. He is neither drawn towards good nor evil, in fact his training under his master has destroyed all such notions that such concepts even exist, for after all "Good" or "Evil", all patron's coin spend the same. He doesn't shy from hard work if he feels it can benefit him, but hates mundane labor and will often try to escape menial chores. He finds comfort in tinkering and any task where he can shine using his deft hands.
Appearance: Ral is constantly covered in a layer of soot and grime from working over a forge, and his clothes are sturdy, but covered in patches from constant abuse. He has strong arms, and he looks lithe, not skinny. His emerald green eyes shine even from under the ever present grime that covers him. He has a few burns on his arms, but nothing that would cause him to be classified as ugly. He has slightly pointed ears, medium length black hair, shaggy and unkempt.
History: Ral is the middle of three children, born to the village tanner. His older brother went off to become a solder at the age of 16, and his younger sister staying home. His father bought Ral's apprenticeship from a friend of his uncle, though Ral had never met the man before leaving his parents. He found that he was well suited to much of the work his master asked of him, he grew strong from striking hot metal and billowing the forge, and his hands grew quick at creating the delicate runes and lining the fragile materials that gave life to the few magical items his master allowed him to practice on. His master was a man who was quick to anger and rarely showed affection, but Ral grew to know him as a second father. His master's wife would constantly chastise him over his grimy appearance and his lack of hygiene, but even in these lectures, there too was love.quick to anger, Ral got into constant fights with the children of his own age, and grew to thrive on the attention he got from the adults in the town, even if it was negative. Most of the children didn't dislike Ral however, in fact most came to see him as a friend, and he would often be seen repairing a broken toy or helping look for a lost item for one of the children. His master taught him the art of Rhabdomancy, the art of finding metal if you had a sample on hand. Rhabdomancy was the foundation, the building block of an Artificer, and it was what separated them from common tinkerers, for it allowed them to build a connection to their medium, to add part of themselves to it, to become greater. Ral's mentor taught him how to use the tools of the trade, as well as the tool he would build, and Ral became fairly adept for his age, both in his skill with his craft and his skill with martial weapons. His mentor fell ill when Ral was 12, and though the sickness left, the damage stayed with the old man and never left, leaving more of the mundane and menial tasks to fall to Ral. By the age of 14, Ral had completed an endless amount of non magical items, and could be a creditable tinkerer in his own right. By 16, he had learned the art of projecting his spirit into metal, and had started learning the basics of enchanting. His mentor, now aged and bed ridden, had begun to fear that he would be unable to finish Ral's training. The old Man sent Ral to go out and evolve his own skills, learn new runes, and find new powerful Artifacts that would inspire Ral to surpass his master.
