Leaf

Whoever reads this first: I am going to delete my character "The Marquis" because I am really not happy the way he turned out. Instead I am going to continue my quest with the next faun I wanted to introduce: Phi's half brother, Leaf.
Main Details: concept picture (http://cggallery.itsartmag.com/image.php?id=2522)
Name: Leaf Enna van der Terra
Nickname/Alias: The Pigfather
Age: 24
Race: faun
Height: rather short for a faun - 5ft 8 inches
Weight: slightly less than medium, despite his farming background
Occupation: “pig-father”, formerly a farmer under his father, and now truffle-hunter / fungus-trader.
Note: This is Philomel’s half-brother, though neither know it yet. (exciting threads are to follow)
Personality:
Leaf is a very calm individual. It takes a lot to make him express his rage. Raised from a young age on his family small farm, with a mining father who went on long trips often, he became rather good at working hard, but also hiding his feelings. From the outside often he appears to be kind and considerate, and in truth he is - yet he can also bottle up anger effectively. Once done it erupts in a way not unlike a volcano. He is a bit of a loner; his best friends are his pigs, and no-one else can get in their way.
Appearance:
Goat-legs up to his waist, very hairy/furry in a chestnut brown. His loins are covered with a suitable cloth, though they are hidden enough beneath the fur. He has large curling horns sprouting from his head - these curl forwards, not out to the side. His hair is brown, and very messy. Overall he is a little mucky, and the flesh of his skin is tanned from many years of being out in the sun. He has black eyes, wide and full of wonder.
Skills:
Fungus-hunting: This being his profession in the past few years, Leaf is apt at finding almost any truffle and/or useful expensive fungus (inc. hallucinogenic mushrooms) along with his side-kick pigs.
Tracking: Born and raised in a farm, on the edge of the woods, Leaf is surprisingly skilled at tracking man or beast through a forest. This, however, is not a skill he can use in the city as it is a rather foreign place to him.
Trading: All his years of bartering have paid off - Leaf is a most excellent barterer in terms of making money.
Temper, Temper: Leaf is very excellent at holding his temper, and just sitting there, quiet, until the opportunity arises for him to set the pigs on them.
Abilities:
Adorable Piggies: As detailed in his history, Leaf is the adoptive father of three unusual pigs. They are originally boars, but stopped growing when they were just three months, meaning they are about the size of terriers. This seems to be some magical fault, as the pigs themselves also have high-intelligence and very sensitive smell. They each are able to relate to him and each other telepathically, though not in words - rather images, sounds, tastes or scents. They also possess a vicious bite because of their large omnivorous teeth and count as a minor ankle-nipping weapon.
Art of the Sickle: Leaf was raised as a farmer, and later a truffle-hunter, and so his skill with his sickle is largely cutting and slicing. He has not been taught to use it as a weapon, but with time this will progress. At the moment he is largely at moderate skill with this in fighting.
Whistle My Pan Pipes: As a hobby Leaf picked up the ability to play the flute and the pan-pipes. This is purely for a hobby, but Leaf is working on making it a form of communication with the pigs. So far they calm down with one short tune, and he can make them angry with another.
Equipment/Weapons:
One iron sickle
Three gorgeous pigs
One flute
One set of pan-pipes
Pack to survive for up to a week in the wild (bed roll etc)
Details of the pigs: picture <3 (http://pidivn.com/hinh/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2014/01/0ff2c6e5963fdf1b06673e6c8286f62c4.jpg)
Cookie - very ginger, the largest of the lot. Male, rather cheeky and the apparent leader.
Thor - the rough fellow who loves play fighting. He is the strongest, and has markings very like a baby warthog; light brown with dark brown stripes down his back.
Popsy - the girl of the three. White with black splotches and has the fleetest feet.
History:
Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truffle) is information on truffle if you have no idea what I talk about here.
Leaf is the eldest son in a family of ten faunlings, grown up mostly with his mother as the constant parent around. With his father gone to Radasanth city once every couple of months he quickly grew to take on the “masculine” responsibilities, despite the heavy female orientation of his eight sisters (four older).
When Leaf was five, however, his father did not return back, as promised. The family waited a few weeks. Then a few weeks longer, until their mother, Rarity, could take it no longer. She took the twin young babes, and left for Radasanth in search of her husband. Leaving the eldest daughter in charge she was gone for more than three months, and when she returned one of the twins had died and she was distraught. Having had no news, nor having found anything at all of her husband, Rarity fell into a deep depression and the farm soon became impoverished.
The elder daughters did what they could over the next few years. They sent the youngest children - all those under Leaf - to go and live with their great aunt. Determined, they kept the farm on, and despite having to beg at moments, the five eldest children looked after their mother well and brought the farm back from the brink of collapse.
When Leaf was sixteen years old had become a strong-hearted, caring individual, whose life was centered around his family. He was a keen worker on the farm, and had great skill with the sickle. It was around this age that he was in the forest, searching for wood, and he came across a strange sight; a slayed mother wild boar, her throat gouged out by some giant unknown beast. Beside her were the forms of four tiny piglets.
Leaf knew his mind was already made up when he stood there, watching these pigs. He scooped them up and took them back to the farm. Carefully and kindly he cared for them, giving one of them to his mother to try to get her liveliness back. That pig later died, but the remaining three began to grow - then stopped. Strangely, absurdly, under some unknown magic, they grew in intelligence, but not in size over the next few years. They would follow him, like he was their father, on tottering legs, and help him in his work. They related to him as a father, and he knew them as his best friends.
Slowly Leaf became more and more isolated from real life. The pigs themselves grew especially skilled in finding the rich and powerful fungus known as truffle, and later on more hallucinogenic members of the mushroom family. Specifically he began trading in these, and despite his sisters’ jibes he was proud of himself. In this way he became an eligible bachelor and arrangements were actually made for him to marry a girl from the same mining village. They met a few times, and he began to consider it. He started to go on trips, like his father before him, to the city to made tradings, for longer and longer periods of time, to try to make more money to save up for a house and his future family. However, a cold winter soon came, and when both she and his mother died on his 24th birthday he said goodbye to his sisters for good and decided to move to Radasanth to start life, anew.
