Heya guys! Ok, you may know me as the avatar colorist on Asuka's Custom Avatar Center (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=683). Well, I decided to sketch up Shenjara for my first actual sketch(not just a face or stick figure). The sketches are in grayscale for now, but im gonna color them up eventually. And to those who maybe wondering....I drew some of them on notebook paper.

Not bad, Hamnat. I can see you put your efforts into this one.

Here are a couple of tips I think you might find useful. ^_^

* Nothing wrong with notebook paper - That was how Master Raven got started.
* Starting the image with a stick-figure outline could help with figure placement as well as proportion.
*Sketch light, mark in deeper. Keep only the lines you want and erase anything else that you find unneeded.

Hope I helped. ^_^

here's (http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i212/shenjara/Shen-sketch2.jpg) the second one.....as you may have guessed, im not to good with backgrounds or consistent shading.....or hands for that matter. This picture is a tribute to a recent update (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?p=37281#post37281) to Shenjara's current adventure (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=1459)

Guess what.....I've drawn up a third one. (http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i212/shenjara/Shen-sketch3.jpg) This one portrays the point in Shenjara's tale that she was attacked by the spider......and "blew it up."

I think I was mistaken......because there is now a fourth sketch (http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i212/shenjara/Shen-sketch4.jpg).......and they're still coming.....sideways heads are kinda hard to do.....so a few pointers would be very appreciated.

guess what....here's (http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i212/shenjara/Shen-sketch5.jpg) two more (http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i212/shenjara/Shen-sketch6.jpg) sketches by me.

You should consider drawing stick-figures for your base structure first, then add flesh where you need to. That way, you should be able to create characters that won't end up disproportioned. =P

ok.....after acting upon some of the suggestions submitted by Avatar-masters Raven and Yamihara....I have finally created the frontal base model for Shenjara (http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i212/shenjara/Shen-basemodel_front.jpg). It features her in a "bathing suit." So all those fans of my writing now have black-and-white portrayal of her. My future sketches will be based off of this one, either directly or indirectly.

Umm... Hmm...

Not bad for a start. You might need to make tha arms longer and the feet might need to be bigger. If you're having trouble with proportions, a look in the mirror should help you and then some. ^_^

I've setup links to all the sketches in the first post so new sketches will be posted there from now on. Don't worry though, I'll still post when I update. Like today's sideways model. She's moving this time, if you didn't notice.

Also, note the recently done watercolor portrait. I fine tuned it via MS Paint, because the original was very sloppy, as you can imagine(watercolor, after all).

Hehe. You're getting a good roll on your visual arts skills. Any chance coming back to the role-playing scene?

well after a long delay, I decided to stop witholding my latest work, and forgo coloring it. I shaded it and did the eyes quickly, so those aspects may look a bit shoddily done.

The link has been posted, so go ahead and take a look. For those who are wondering, I'm keeping the links in post one.

*Looks at Kishurin*

...

*Looks at Kishurin in the Profile*

Ehhh~? I've misread Kishurin's profile! O_O;

Myao~ Sorry~

By the way, your latest one is pretty good. Clean up the lines a bit and you're doing great, Nya~! ^_^

silly kitty!

*pets the Raven-plushy* mmm...so soft...ye can be forgiven this once. Anyone can make a mistake...some more severe than others(like firing me....no I'm not going to let it go...that really ticked me off)

I think it's better than making you wait indefinitely and finding somewhere along the line that I just disappeared without notice. Well, sorta.

I think it gives you more time to explore your own potential than just being stuck to some lame ol' avatar maker who can't deliver on time...

Thanks for teh compliments...you should try posting in your own thread some time(Something Positive V (http://althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=4530))

Main reason I'm getting better is because if your advice. I finally toke it and started learning how to do matchstick figures and guidelines. It's a process that hasn't been finished, but it looks hopeful. :3

Yay!! First time I've ever drawn an item other than a sword. It's a Black-Ironwood Archmage's Staff. I plan for Shen to get this particular Staff sometime past level 6. Enjoy!

I actually like the design of the magic circle and the staff.

I've done another two. Hope you like 'em.

The sword is what Mac's sword will eventually look like in several levels. And for those who are wondering: yes, it will change appearance as it's power increases.

Trouble In Your Eyes

I would look around at some stuff online to help you with porportions.

Ex. Eyes, Five eye balls fit across your face to make the width of a head. With one eyeball in the middle and two on the outsides.

Your height should be porportional to the arm span of the person.

Other things like that would help out big. The keep drawing. If its not completely porportional, pull out this little card called your creative liscense and say that this is how you make your things! haha

Alright, I know...I haven't drawn anything in a year. Well, I drew this up on my graphing calculator because I was bored. Then I decided to draw it up on paper. It took me an hour to do it, all free-handed with nothing but a pencil to act as a straight edge. So...enjoy. Think of it as another magic circle, but without the magic elements. I'll add those later.

Once again, it's in the first post.
