Asmodeus

Name: Asmodeus
Nickname/Alias: Tenebrous Eldanoth
Age: Immortal
Race: Pit Fiend
Height: 6’2” (6’5” measured to the tips of his horns)
Weight: 143 lbs
Occupation: Sorcerer
Personality:
Asmodeus can appear witty, charming, and genteel when he chooses too. But beneath the mask, he is calculating, ruthless, and utterly sadistic.
History:
Asmodeus was perfectly content with his existence. He was an Archdevil, a prince of the Nine Hells. He had an iron palace, a harem full of succubi, and a thousand damned souls to torment at his leisure.
In a single moment, everything changed. He was torturing a soul by making it relive the worst moments of its life, and adding in a few of that never happened for good measure. The soul, a young woman who’d murdered her father, begged for mercy. They always did. It was his favorite part. But this time, Asmodeus was curious. Even with all the pleasures and vices the Hells had to offer a devil of his rank, eternal existence didn’t offer novelty often. He shrugged and let the soul go, out of pure curiosity.
That was a mistake.
Somehow, one of Asmodeus’s political rivals found out about his act of supposed compassion. Suddenly, every enemy Asmodeus had made over thousands of years moved against him. Even with his massive army, iron citadel, and mastery of infernal sorcery, he was overwhelmed.
Instead of granting him the mercy of death, his enemies decided to humiliate him further. They exiled him from the Nine Hells and stripped him of his power. Or most of it, at least. Asmodeus managed to cling to enough strength to create a mortal shell and flee to Althanas.
Ever proud of his fiendish heritage, Asmodeus took the form of a Tiefling sorcerer and invented his alias, Tenebrous Eldanoth. He is currently biding his time. Dark magics still burn in his blood, and he is actively seeking out arcane artifacts and building a power base in Althanas. When he is strong enough, he intends to reclaim his throne. When he does, there will be a bloodbath the like of which Baetor has never seen. He keeps his true identity and ambitions a well-guarded secret from all but the closest of his friends and servants.
Appearance:
In the form of Tenebrous Eldanoth, Asmodeus appears as a particularly well-dressed tiefling. His eyes gleam amber, and his skin is stained a deep scarlet. His horns curl elegantly out of his forehead, and he keeps a subtle goatee neatly trimmed.
Skills:
Combat
Bastard Sword: Journeyman
Dagger: Expert
Spear: Journeyman
Academia
Language: Infernal
Language: Common
Spellcraft: Journeyman
Social
Dancing: Journeyman
Intrigue: Expert
Misc.
Torture: Expert
Poisoning: Journeyman
Abilities:
Infernal Sorcery
Flames of Baetor: With a word in the demonic tongue and a gesture, Asmodeus can summon a burst of hellfire. It behaves like normal fire, except that it clings to its targets and burns twice as hot. He can create a spear of hellfire that can travel up to thirty feet three times per thread.
Iron of Dis: Drawing his power from Dis, the iron city of the Nine Hells, Asmodeus can summon red-hot iron from the ground. While he can’t hurl it as a weapon, it has several uses. He can form a hasty barrier in front of himself that offers partial protection from attacks, tear a makeshift spear from the earth, or force it to wrap around an enemy’s ankles. The shield takes significant concentration to hold, and he can maintain it for one post. He can do any of these actions twice per thread. This range of this ability cannot exceed Asmodeus’s touch.
Demonic Heritage
Fiendish Strength: A flicker of Asmodeus’s old power lingers in his mortal form. He is 2x as physically strong as a normal human. The blows he deals are more difficult to defend against and hit harder than an average human’s would (A successfully landed melee attack is 1.5x as effective as it would normally be). He can kick an average door down and snap a man’s arm if the mood strikes him. His strength allows him to use his bastard sword in a one-handed grip, if he so chooses.
Cast from Heaven: Asmodeus is weak to the gods of lights’ power. Asmodeus is unable to enter the temple of any good-aligned deity, and the touch of blessed objects and consecrated water sear his skin.
Equipment:
Asmodeus longs for the armory of hell-forged steel he took for granted while he reigned in Baetor, but he’s currently making do with whatever he can scrounge up. He’ll settle for anything that cuts flesh. There’s blood that needs spilling, and he’s not picky on the how it gets that way. Asmodeus carries an old iron bastard sword across his back and a curved iron knife hangs at his side.
Like any prince of the Nine Hells, Asmodeus takes pride in his appearance. His clothing is elegant in the extreme, as befits a devil of his rank. The only flaw in his wardrobe is the small, rusty patch of dried blood on the collar. The coat’s previous owner, a drunken nobleman, was inconsiderate and left it behind when Asmodeus cut his throat in a dark alley.
