(19:02:11) Althanas: Kroom enters the channel.
(19:02:49) Althanas: Rosie enters the channel.
(19:03:02) Rosie: So
(19:03:51) Kroom: (Alright, I'ma use parenthesized text for OOC chat. Anything in particular you're wanting to write?)
(19:05:45) Rosie: (Awesome, um this is just a little thing but Rose could use some combat training, maybe meet her in the near the red forest. She looks afraid and lost, you cant just let a girl walk around un protected or something what do you think?)
(19:06:17) Kroom: (I can do that.)
(19:06:55) Rosie: (Ill fallow your lead
(19:06:57) Rosie: )
(19:07:08) Kroom: (writing now.)
(19:11:18) Kroom: Leaves crunched under his feet as the smith crept along. The air was cool, full of the moist scent of loam and a recent rain. It was a pleasant balance between his homeland's frigid hostility and Alerar's harsh heat. Most days he wasn't so fortunate to not be in one region or another, and his trip to Eiskalt had been... well. Jak was trying to forget most of that.

A low whistle to his left caught his ear, and the smith wheeled, half-drawing his shortbow as he caught the other man's eye. Ikkar, one of the other man who had been hired, along with Jak, to hunt the bandits in these woods. He was constantly smiling, and the others whispered that he was a dead shot with his own bow. The dark-haired man signalled forward, then made a hand gesture indicating the person he'd seen was not one of their targets. Jak frowned and crept forward a bit farther, until at last he caught the sight.

A girl. Just a wee thing, probably not even out of her teens, and looking dangerously out of place. Dangerous for her, that is. (tbc0
(19:12:41) Kroom: Jak stepped forward, allowing a bit more noise than usual in order to alert her. His bow lowered but remaining ready, he gave a low cough and spoke softly.

"'oy, you," his voice rumbled, "whence're you, and what're you doing 'ere?"
(19:16:05) Rosie: Rose let out a slight yelp out of fright, She was already lost, having a stranger pop out of the brush have her heart a shock she wasn't ready for.
(19:16:14) Rosie: (TBC SORRY)
(19:16:22) Kroom: (no worries.)
(19:19:05) Rosie: "D- don't come any closer." Rose barley manages to say out of her chattering teeth. Without the comfort of Elias, Rose was nothing more than a child. She possessed no real fighting skills other than her daggers she keeps hidden away under her cloak. "Come no further."
(19:21:00) Kroom: (hang on a sec)
(19:23:41) Rosie: (Your Good)
(19:26:47) Kroom: Jak ground his teeth and slacked his bowstring. To his right, Ikkar came into view as well - though his bow remained at the ready.

"Calm y'self, girl," Jak said, Salvic accent rolling off his tongue. "I'm not here to hurt you." He could only hope the slow appearance of the other hunters, sweeping through and past the clearing, wouldn't set her off. She looked ready to fly to pieces, and jumpy civilians were liabilities.
(19:34:26) Rosie: Rose looked around and noticed the other man approaching from her behind. Though she was afraid she was not going to hastily run or make any movements to set off either man. "Don't come any closer." She said again as she reached behind herself underneath her cloak. She wasn't feeling for her daggered rather she was grasping at one of her novels she carries. "If your not here to harm me, why are and your friend aiming at me?!" she said with a more aggressive tone.
(19:40:25) Kroom: "Eeeeasy, girl," Ikkar murmured, bringing his arrow to bear. His perpetual grin was dangerous. "Bring that hand back out reeeeal slow, and we'll both thank you."

Jak shot the archer an annoyed glance. You're not helping, dammit. Turning back to the girl, he slowly lowered his own bow and arrow - though his other weapons were plainly evident.

"We're mercenaries," he said calmly, laying his weapons in the undergrowth. "Hired to help clear out some bandits in these woods. He's making sure you don't try to make a move, see? We'd both hate to have to kill a girl." Jak lifted empty hands, that universal sign of peaceful intent. "My name's Jak. Yours?"
(19:48:43) Rosie: Slowly Rose brought her hand back into sight, but within her grasp was a book of hers. This was not a threatening item to pull from her back but indeed a powerful one. She brought her tome into full view and even open to the middle of it to prove there was no ill intent. "Rose, so your mercenaries?" She said as if to question their façade. Secretly from the moment she made contact with these men Rose was already fast at work trying to ick her way into their mind. Mostly out of habit, she always used this tactic to monitor people ever since her days at home. (Ok so she is trying to use her telepathy to decipher if you are of any threat to her. Lets just say your not so we can move faster. Like stated its just habit for her to do so, and take little to no time to do so.)
(19:49:32) Kroom: (that's fine.)
(19:52:47) Kroom: Ikkar released a slow breath, and with a nod to Jak he slid onward with the others. Jak nodded in return, and stood easily, resting his palms on the pommels of his knife and short sword.

"That's right," he confirmed, "just working men doing their work. Now, what are you doing out here?" His eyes, shadowed by his hood, danced back and forth from the girl's pretty face to the woods beyond. He couldn't hang back forever, though he would probably end up being required to escort her back safely. That galled him, for some reason.
(20:04:11) Rosie: Finally she broke though, she had access to Jak's outer mind. It was cloudy, hard to get any definite picture or thoughts. But from what Rosie could tell he meant no real harm to her. "Im, Lost." She admitted as she now felt incredibly comforted by her readings. Opening up now she let out a agitated sigh, "I got lost looking for my brother. He disappeared in the night, I've been looking for hours. But I have spent the most of the time I spent trying to get myself back to Beinost." she said quickly without breathing.
(20:10:42) Kroom: The smith quirked an eyebrow at that. Beinost? This far out?

"Damn, but you are lost." A sharp crack from the woods ahead caught his attention for a moment, but no sound followed it, and he looked back to the girl. "Well, Rose, you're the first livin' soul we've seen hide or hair of all day. Maybe one of the other lads 'as seen your brother." The smith turned and retrieved his bow and arrow, nocking the shaft once more.
(20:19:58) Rosie: "You're leaving aren't you?" She said as she noticed a different thought pattern. Lowering her head out if disappointment, it seemed like she had been looking in the wrong direction. She figure the Red Forest was a prime location to find Elias, he was always disappearing in the most dangerous of places. "Well if you are, Can you point me in the direction I need to go to enter this forest. Ill look out for any bandits wile im there."
(20:23:27) Kroom: "What?" Jak looked back at her sharply. "Leaving? No, not yet, and not without you. I'll take you back to our camp at the forest's edge, you should be alright from there." He hitched his shoulders and looked back at her. "Wouldn't be right, leaving you out here to get stabbed or eaten at first opportunity."
(20:31:14) Rosie: "But..." She let peep out as her hood lifted itself over her head. "I have no choice, Elias is not normal if he is in the forest I need to find him." her voice solemnly said, in a tone that conveyed her determination. Regardless of his retort she was going to progress with or without help. "Are you going to stand in my way?"
(20:35:05) Kroom: It took a great exercise of his self-control not to gape. Well ain't you a precocious one, he marveled. All resolute and ready to throw the 'weight of your quest' down against a blooded killer, eh? You've got balls, girl, I'll give you that.

"And if I am, girl?" he challenged, squaring towards her. He couldn't help the amused edge that crept into his tone. "What you going to do about it?"
(20:37:50) Rosie: (Give me a sec)
(20:39:57) Kroom: (no worries.)
(20:49:02) Rosie: You don't understand, Elias is not all together, he never been 'fully here'. She conveyed to him only thought, even showing him images of her in her youth watching after her older brother like a child. "If I must, ill make you move."
(20:54:10) Kroom: Images flashed in his mind: a little girl that he somehow knew to be the one standing before him, watching a boy - her brother, older and larger than she was, but obviously under her protection. What the fu-

Jak's eyes widened and he stepped back quickly, half raising his bow.

"Don't know what the fuck you just did," he growled, "but don't do it again. If your brother is in this neck o' woods, we'll find him, but you're coming back to our camp now." His eyes flashed dangerously. She'd gotten in his head. He'd known too many slimy mages to trust that. "I'm sorry about your kin, but this ain't a discussion anymore."
(21:02:10) Rosie: "Prove to me you are going to find my brother, prove to me I can trust if he is in this forest you will bring him back. Otherwise I have no choice but to go without your permission." She said aloud heeding his warning not to invade his mind any further. "Please he is the only thing I care about in the world." She says as her hand once again drifted to his book and she opened it.
(21:03:17) Rosie: (Ok, so I feel like we are at am impasse, rosie cares to much not to look herself. Either challenge her like If you can cut me or something then you can continue. or take a tag along.)
(21:06:43) Kroom: "You'll put that book down, now," he muttered, raising and stretching his bow. "We're sweeping the forest now, girl, looking to kill bandits, not kids. They'll get him out of the way and somebody will bring him back to our camp or one of the others, and within a week he'll be back at Eluriand with the rest of us." Jak's eyes narrowed as he began to move sideways, angling to put himself between the girl and the rest of the clearing. "Gods below, if your brother's in these woods, we'll get him back to you."
(21:07:32) Kroom: (That depends on how much longer you're wanting to make this go on, and what you're wanting out of it.)
(21:09:09) Rosie: (What should I do, are we having a little skirmish, or should I give into you commands? But im enjoying this so whatever you want if you would like to finish it now we can wrap it up.)
(21:11:10) Kroom: (If you want to have some fun, feel free to take a swing at him; just be warned that Jak has no reason not to kill Rosie right now. For all he knows, she's going for some kind of spell in that book, and he's not going to let that fly. if that doesn't sound appealing, we could wrap it with us going back to camp and your brother being there already.)
(21:13:42) Althanas: Tobias_Stalt enters the channel.
(21:13:48) Rosie: (What would you prefer, I guess it is getting to about 2 hours in we can wrap it up if you prefer?)
(21:14:01) Rosie: (Toby?)
(21:14:15) Kroom: (Oh god, Toby. NO. )
(21:14:30) Tobias_Stalt: (I just came to watch.)
(21:15:13) Kroom: (The fight would not end well for Rosie at this point: Jak has a definite advantage in almost every respect, and is not in a mood to take risks or go easy on her. I vote we head back to the camp, have a happy reunion, and then call it.)
(21:15:35) Rosie: (Ok)
(21:20:11) Rosie: She closed her tome, making sure to do so with great care not to fold and pages. It was one of her favorite stories of all time after all. "You really have strong conviction, even for someone you have no reason to." She said as she packed her book away into her bag hidden under her cloak. She was not capable of out lasting this man, not to mention his friend who was still hanging just behind her. "Fine, if you wish ill return to your camp and then be one my way." A sudden white moves up to Rosie's shoulder and then nudges her face. It was her pet mouse, Lucius, he was telling her that was for the best.
(21:20:16) Althanas: Fox_Owen_Xavier enters the channel.
(21:20:52) Rosie: (Hi Fox)
(21:21:25) Fox_Owen_Xavier: (Hello, just here like Tobias to watch)
(21:21:52) Kroom: (Didn't know you were a voyeur, Fox. Kinky. )
(21:22:17) Tobias_Stalt: (Hey now, he and I are good, pure, godly men.)
(21:22:28) Tobias_Stalt: (We just like a good show.)
(21:22:45) Rosie: (Watching a little girl... Suuuureee Godly)
(21:23:02) Tobias_Stalt: (I'm not into it. Dunno about Foxy.)
(21:23:27) Rosie: ( )
(21:24:06) Fox_Owen_Xavier: (How did my words get twisted into me being a horrible human being? )
(21:24:28) Tobias_Stalt: (Fox, you're an innocent bystander.)
(21:24:37) Tobias_Stalt: (Have a spot of ale, buddy.)
(21:24:42) Kroom: (#bewaretheniceones)
(21:29:25) Tobias_Stalt: Tobias sat at the edge of the encampment with both eyes trained on the direction Jak had left in. "Bloody Salvic bastard," he cursed, "I told him this forest was dangerous." The stars danced above Lindequalmë, indifferent to the troubles of mortals beneath them, casting heartless light over the sleeping woodsmen. Tobias alone kept watch, the pipe spewing it's sweet poison into his lungs with each ragged breath. "Get back soon, Jak Roth Rute," he muttered, "I feel an evil in my bones..."
(21:32:00) Kroom: Jak relaxed slowly, and wordlessly waved Ikkar off. He and Rose set off at a steady walk into the woods. He was unnerved by how easily she'd thrown her own thoughts into his head, and it only added to the growing mistrust he held for mages. Think a few tricks and fireballs give 'em the right to walk over anybody without... bastards. Jak found himself in the lead, and threw a glance back to make sure Rose was following. Sure enough, there she was. His gaze lingered: she was pretty, now that he took a moment to realize it. Skinnier than he liked his women, but very pretty. If this weren't on a job... he mused, then cut off that thought. Just get her back, you idiot.

The two spoke not a word during their walk, the exercise quickly demanding all their breath. After about an hour, Jak caught the hail of one of the camp sentries, and threw back his hood. The sentry was one of his friends. "We're here," he muttered for Rosie's benefit. (tbc)
(21:33:27) Kroom: Eyes narrowing in the dim light, the smith spotted the glow of a pipe, hovering near the dying embers of a fire, and he grinned slightly.

"'oy, Tob," he said, loud enough for the ex-soldier to hear him, "any dinner left?"
(21:34:50) Rosie: (Ill let tobias post first.)
(21:38:02) Tobias_Stalt: "Only if you've brought it back with you," Tobias jeered. It was not without merit, of course; the others had condemned Jak by word and act when he had gone off alone into the Red Forest. If the truth were told, Tobias was a bit impressed his friend had made it out alive. Still, he had enough respect for the man that he relented. "Aye, I'm fucking with you, mate. I left a portion of mine in me tent, on the off chance you made it back."
(21:38:31) Tobias_Stalt: "These fuckin' jackals weren't going to waste food on your corpse." Tobias allowed a wry grin.
(21:42:43) Rosie: "Elias!" Rosie yelled as she ripped off her hood and broke from behind Jak. She spotted just behind Jak's friend a familiar figure. Even just the small visions she shared with Jak was enough for him to recognize the boy too. "Elias, are you ok? Where have you been?" She said as she started questioning her newly found brother. (TBC)
(21:46:23) Rosie: "I know you wish me out, but I feel like you were only thinking for my best intentions. In the end you wouldn't have let me go even if I tried. Thank You." she thought to Jak as she looked back at him. She meant only to apologize for this unneeded event, to apologize for her ignorance of the dangers she was blindly falling towards.
(21:47:41) Kroom: Jak grinned as well, teeth glinting in the night as he slapped Tobias on the back - then crouched and wheeled with knife in hand as Rose yelled, breaking the stillness of the forest. She was met with a chorus of harsh hisses from around the camp, but Jak saw the sister and brother reunited and knew that that the last thing on her mind was the propriety of the situation. He bristled as she whispered in his head again, but the words helped soothe the encounter, and he eased slowly. "Easy, lass," he said softly, "we're not alone out here, and we'd like to keep it so we don't get noticed. Be happy, but keep quiet."

In the dark, he smiled.
(21:50:23) Rosie: (Scene)
(21:50:49) Rosie: (Whit that im out, ive been ignoring some company to finish this I gtg.)
(21:50:55) Kroom: (Good enough for me. I'll go submit it. Well done Rosie, and thanks for the cameo, Toblerone. )
