Hey, I'm going to throw in some ideas for a new clan war method. I know there has been a lot of talk and stuff, but not much written examples. So I first want to say that this is my strawman, so throw in your ideas, tear it apart or what-not.

I like the idea of a Swiss-style tournament, but I think we can tweak it a bit for the clan war. Its late, and I'm brain dead from work, but here is how it could work.

1. People register for which ever side they want.
2. A series of random thread types are produced for the number of people registered.
3. The 'generals' select the characters that are going to fight in which thread, much in the same way that a general would send out their troops.
4. The threads are given 'ratings' which effect the score that the winning side gets.
5. Battles are fought, the winners get points based on the thread.
6. The next round starts, and new random threads are made again.
7. Once the number of rounds are over, the clan with the most points wins. Perhaps with a amount, such as 'Within 10 is a draw' 'More than 10 is a slight win' 'More than 20 is a big win'.

Thread types might be:
1v1 – 2 points
1v1 – 1 point
2v2 – 3 points
2v2 – 4 points
1v3 – 1 or 5 points
1v3 – 1 or 3 points
2v3 – 2 or 3 points
2v3 – 1 or 2 points
3v3 – 2 points

So those are some examples. The generals needs to make the call on who does what battle, there are risks throwing a good player on a high point one while leaving another one for the other team to be easier to defeat.

Those are some ideas. Character wouldn't get eliminated, just have to move to the next thread and redeem themselves.

Thoughts?

Honestly, I never belonged to a clan, so I never participated in clan wars (except one brief foray that was wholly misguided on my part). But I do like this idea; it would give players a chance to really make a story that spans through multiple threads.
