"Koli, you can't seriously be thinking about leaving," Jalaphar, the High Priest spoke in his soft voice.

The two priests took a couple glances at each other, Their white robes shining from the sun. The sun was directly above the two, it was noon, and not a minute past. The sweet smell of peaches filled the air, almost strong enough to taste. Koli looked around him, the outdoors always calmed him when he made nerve racking decisions. The birds were chirping and the grasshoppers singing, and everything was peaceful, just the way he liked it.

"I'm sorry, Jalaphar, but I don't feel as though this place is where I must live my entire life. Something is calling me away, something big. I must find the source," Koli answered, staring directly into Jalaphar's eyes, calm as ever.

"So be it, I will have the gates open for you. May the Gods guide you," Jalaphar's irritated voice answered quickly. His star pupil, and he just lost him.

"You are a corrupt man, Jalaphar, the entire monastery is," Koli spoke softly under his breath.

The gates were opened as promised, and the guards allowed him to leave without a problem. It has been only a few minutes, and already Koli has began to make friends. two birds stood on his shoulders as another was on his outstretched finger. The two blue jays sitting upon his shoulders seemed to pay no attention to the small hummingbird resting his wings upon Koli's finger. Before he knew it, Koli had two deer, a turkey, a black bear, and twenty six different types of birds following him through the forest.

The sun began to set, and the animals dispersed, going their own separate ways again. The forest Koli wandered through grew dark fast, and he had to build a shelter and fire, for the night would be cold, and without one, he would certainly die. He searched for a nice dead tree to use, and found one easily enough. Calling upon his ability to conjure weapons, Koli threw his right hand in a downwards motion, creating a machete along the way. The tree was instantly chopped through, creating perfect firewood.

Looking around at his cell, Koli grew restless. He did not want to leave the monastery, because it was the only place he knew all his life. He might have begun to worry, had he not noticed the little one at his door. A small child, the monastery called them young ones, was peeking around the corner of his ajar door. He turned and ran away when he saw Koli notice him, but Koli still smiled. The child had been gazing at Koli admirably, all children seemed to look up to Koli the most, and this made Koli's heart swell. Children held a special place in Koli's heart, and he almost had second thoughts on leaving. He might have revised his decision, had not his best friend entered his room.

"Brother Koli," Raphael said. "Might I ask what was so urgent that I had to report right away?"

Koli looked at his friend and motioned with his head for Raphael to shut the door. Raphael gave Koli a face, but turned and shut the door. He did not like it that Koli never spoke unless it was absolutely necessary but he had gotten used to it. Koli sat down on his cot and Raphael followed suit. It wasn't until several moments afterwards that Koli lifted his gaze to his friend's eyes.

"I am leaving, brother." Was all Koli said in his sturdy, unfailing voice. Raphael's immediate reaction was surprise, than shock.

"But Koli, you can't leave!" The monk said, flustered. "You are one of the best priests we have!"

Koli simply shook his head, and pointed to his own heart.

Koli woke up in the morning to find the embers of his fire just starting to ebb. The black coals now had a layer of ash over them and were losing their heat. Rising silently, Koli picked up some dry leaves from under him and gently nursed his fire back to a nice flame. Searching the woods, Koli found herbs and roots and made himself a small breakfast with dew he collected off large tree leaves and a wooden bowl he carved. Koli didn't care about taste, taste was a luxury that only the proud cared for.

One Jalaphar and the monastery now care for... Koli thought to himself.

Koli started out, but froze when he heard a soft rustle of leaves in the distance. Instantly his eyes were glued to the spot, and his ears were keen of the area surrounding him where he could not see. He crouched down and silently waited to see what made the noise. Out from behind a tree in the distance, a baby fox peeked around to get a look at Koli.

Koli knocked on Braith's door. The silent room was almost instantly filled with the sound of rustling feet. Braith was no doubt moving her treasure box from the front of the door. She loved privacy, and in the monastery, privacy was a rare delicacy.

The door opened and Koli smiled. He loved seeing Braith, she was almost like a daughter to him. She smiled and laughed, pulling at Koli's arm to enter the room.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

Koli did not speak much, but he always seemed to let go with Braith. "I have something to tell you." He answered. "I don't know if you will like to hear it though."

"That's okay, I'll be fine. What's up?"

"I am leaving the monastery." His voice became very serious.

"Why? Koli, no! stay here, where it it safe!" Braith's voice became worried and sad.

Koli's eyes became a bright green and he began to calm her. "Braith, it is something I must do. I am sorry." He stood and exited the room.
