Matthew sat up, startled to death as an intense screeching filled his room. He sprang out of bed, sprinted to the other side and slammed a square of light on the wall to shut off the terrible enchantment.

"Ugh," Matthew grumbled, "the alarm clocks here are just as bad as at home."

Matthew was excited for his first day of hero school. Matt had enrolled Matthew in a talent search, and concluded that they would try him a little bit in every field and see which he excelled and improved in the most. Because of this his schedule was broken up into A-days and B-days.

The school was held in a large building on the opposite side of town. It was a very majestic building with stained glass windows, and looked almost like a huge cathedral from the outside. When Matthew entered the two large wooden doors he felt like he was stepping into a space station. The inside was polished silver, white and chrome colored with many staircases and corridors.

Looking at his schedule Matthew saw that he first had magic lessons with Mrs. Dohmen. He found that he had to walk up three flights of stairs, and down a maze of hallways. He was almost late by the time he made it, but Matthew found that her door was a large metal material and her room had metal plated walls with many dummies and targets set up around the area.

"Welcome students," she said when everybody came in and got settled. "Let the fun begin."

"You don't need to be gifted to learn magic." Mrs. Dohmen said, "It is something that lies within all of us." That was her favorite saying all throughout the lesson.

"Close your eyes and search deep within yourself. When you venture deeply enough you will find the hidden store of built up energy that is just dying to be released." She said, "Open the floodgates and release it."

Matthew had about 9 other students in his class and every one of them set to work on a target. There were fireballs, ice shards, and even lightening bolts flying all around the room. The only one who was not casting spells was Matthew, who was standing dumbly in the middle of the room where he had come in.

"Hey kid," Mrs. Dohmen said, "What's your issue?"

Mrs Dohmen was a short woman with black curly hair and reading glasses. HEr face was ovular, but not chubby. She was wearing a black uniform that all of the staff members wore.

"Um... I'm not sure how to do this." Matthew said. Mrs. Dohmen sighed.

"Well kid, that's why I'm here."

After concluding that he will never be able to cast a magic spell the bell rang and Matthew was off to second period.

His schedule read:

Class 2- Intense physical training: Nies

Walking into the room Matthew saw that it looked like a completely normal classroom. There were 5 rows of 6 desks and posters about the human body all around the room. A large digital looking clock with bold red letters glared down at Matthew from the front of the room. Mrs. Nies was standing up at her desk as everybody came in, and seemed to be scowling at everyone. She was a plump woman well into her 50's with glasses and the universal teacher uniform. She had thin pink-ish hair that puffed over her head like a mushroom.

"Now don't get too comfortable," Mrs. Neis said after the class came in and sat down. "This class is going to be very difficult."

Matthew sighed but didn't make his disappointment obvious. He didn't want to make a bad impression. He wondered what was to come but figured that he would find out in due time. The class groaned, and Matthew found out that there were about 14 other students in his class. The males looked buff and muscular and the females were fairly athletic.

"Most of this class will not be done in the classroom." She said looking around with a disapproving scowl, "we will be going outside the school, and at times even outside the boundaries of the colony."

"I am going to work you until you have nothing left to work with."

Nies's class was a low blow for Matthew. Within the first 15 minutes he was vomiting, and he fainted out by the 20 minute mark. He came to in the health lodge and felt like he had been hit by a bus. The nurse, Mrs. Brabender, was hovering over him and offered him a glass of water. Mrs. Brabender was a tall slender woman with golden brown curly hair and a skeleton-looking face.

"Normally I would give you an instant pain killer but I am not allowed to administer those in the first week of training." She said.

"How long have I been out?" Asked Matthew.

"I revived you as soon as you arrived." She replied. Matthew groaned and sipped his water.

"The longest I can keep you here is 5 minutes," Mrs. Brabender said "then you have to go to class."

"Alright," Matthew said standing up,"I might as well go now."

The rest of Nies's class was hell. Matthew almost passed out three more times but managed to cling to consciousness by his fingernails. The class was every single work out you could possibly think of condensed into two hours. On top of that the entire class was done sprinting. As the students were leaving at the end of the class Matthew heard several of them say they were going to drop out of the class. The idea seemed very appealing to Matthew, but something inside of him wanted to keep the class. He pusehed the thought to the back of his mind to deal with later.

Looking at his schedule Matthew found that his next class was Studio I with Miss Krahe. Matthew had no idea what this was going to be like but it sounded like an art class to him.

"Oh great," Matthew said, "I suck at art."

Over the next few days Matthew found that his schedule was very intensive and consisted of the following:

A-Days:
1.) Magic Lessons with Mrs. Domhen
2.) Intense Physical Training with Mrs. Neis
3.) Studio I with Mrs. Krhae
4.) Arithmatic with Mr. Herrning

B-Days:
1.) Illusion with Mrs. Marz
2.) Languages of Althanas with Mrs. Nlie
3.) Chemistry and Physical Magic Science with Mrs. G
4.) Musical Assault with Mr. Degro

Magic lessons were extremely difficult because Matthew had no magic heritage whatsoever. Mrs. Domhen said that the first spell was always the hardest but once you unlock the magic casting ability within you it will be unlocked for all generations after you. Mrs. Neis's class was hell, every day. The class would get one easy day every two weeks or so but this was by far the hardest class Matthew had. Studio I was boring as all get out but it was easy. Matthew was happy to have it after Neis's class because he got to wind down. Matthew was also relieved to hear that math was the same in every world, including the world of Althanas. Granted, they had different names for things, but the concept of math was the same.

Illusion was all about how to create false images, smells, sounds, feelings, and even tastes. Mrs. Marz was a very good teacher and always made things easy to understand. It was a difficult class, but he was able to do it with her as the teacher. Languages was a blow off class, as the teacher was always downing scotch in her drink. She would go over the lesson for the day, but the content naturally came to Matthew. Chemistry and Physical Magic Science was a whole other game. It was like physics, except with magic too. Magical Assault was how to use an instrument that attacked with sound waves. Matthew was exhausted by the end of day two.

~ 2 months later

Matthew sat in Matt's library reading the t-story he was assigned by Neis. A t-assignment was a type of story that the student had to fully engulf himself in. As soon as he started reading his mind was totally engulfed in the book, and he found himself living out the situation. The creator of the t-story had intricately woven and engineered a world, characters to go in that world, and a storyline that they all followed on autopilot. This was all carried out through illusion.

When the reader placed his hand on the book and read the first few words, the book lassoed his mind and established a direct link. From there it drew the reader deep into his own mind and created extremely realistic illusions that felt exactly like real life. The characters would follow the storyline on autopilot, but they could see and interact with the spectator as well. If the spectator interfered, or strayed too far from the main character, there would be dire consequences.

While in the story the reader could see everything in the world. The illusions were so intricate and detailed that he could also smell, hear, and even taste anything that the world also had to offer. There was one downside to this however. He could also touch anything in the world, and anything could touch him as well. That's why they called it a t-story; t stood for torture.

Matthew's objective? Get through the story. Alive. In this story was extreme conflict and great danger, and yes you could die in one of these stories. Throughout the story there were beacons of light; black light if it was day and white light if it was night. These beacons of light were called check points. If the reader of the story died from interfering or being killed by a character, he would have the chance of exiting the story back into reality or returning to one of the beacons of light he had touched previously. These checkpoints were At the end of the story there was a gold beacon. If the reader reached this beacon, he returned to reality. So once you start, you either finish the story or die. Those were your only means of escape.

So, placing his hand on the book Matthew read the first few words of the story and found himself falling backwards into an endless abyss...

They air was extremely dry, and the heat was intense. Instantly Matthew's heart sank and he felt depressed. He knew that no longer how hard he tried in life, he would never amount to anything. He might as well lay in the hot sun to shrivel up and die. Beads of sweat began to form on his head and his lungs began to hurt, so he opened his eyes and was blinded by the bright sun. When his eyes adjusted he looked around and found a forest far on the horizon to his left, and nothing but desert on his right. Coming from the desert was a man in a white hood. He was traveling on foot, and all he carried was a single wineskin and a sheathed sword. Matthew decided that this man was most likely one of the main characters. He walked towards him and kept a distance of about ten feet from the man.

When he reached the forest a band of armed men stepped out from the forest. They began to say something but Matthew was too far away to hear. The man in the hood passed through into the forest and Matthew began to follow. The men glared at Matthew as he approached, but did not say anything.

"What are you looking at, nimrod?" Matthew said to a bald man with a nose piercing.

The man looked outraged and he pulled out a knife. Before Matthew could register what was happening the man threw the knife and it sank into the left part of Matthew's chest. All the air was taken out of his lungs and he collapsed onto the ground gasping for air. Matthew began coughing and gasping for air as the sand he had collapsed on turned a dark red as it soaked up his fluids. His strength was gone and he tried to pull out the knife but he was too weak. It was the worst pain he had ever imagined.

After several tries in the t-story Matthew ached too much from dying and he was so mentally exhausted that he passed out. He began to have a dream that he was on a sailboat. A lion appeared on the sailboat and told him that his socks were inside out. Looking down at his feet, Matthew noticed that his feet were made out of sand began to fall apart. A terrible sharp, searing pain that felt like intense pins and needles jabbed all over them and his legs began to turn to sand as well. He woke up to find that he was in the library and the sun was down. His legs and feet had fallen asleep, and he was drooling all over the t-story.

"Great," Matthew grumbled to himself. "Now I will have baldy on my case as well."

In the beginning of the school year, the administrative executives made themselves known to all students. The chief executive administrator (or principal in an Earth school) was a bald man of medium height with a thin ovular face and hawklike features. His jaw was sharp and pointed, his nose big and angry. This was not a happy man-ever. He was in charge of the entire school, forms of punishment, behavioral supervision, and banishment from school grounds. This was the person who was always rude in private and slapped on a fake smile when there were people around. You did not want to encounter this man because he was doing his job. Mr. Regan Lighter.

Matthew extremely disliked this man with a burning passion. The amount of disrespect he had for Mr. Lighter was beyond measurable, and he sneered at the executive whenever he passed.... On the inside of course. He would never do that to his face. Mr. Lighter did hate everybody, but he hated some more than others. Matthew simply wished to stay on the good side of his bad side (if that makes any sense).

But when he was with his friends Matthew could not contiain his disrespect for his Chief Executive Administrator, and always refereed to him as Baldy. While taking spanish, Matthew also learned the spanish word for "bald" and that if one were to add -ito to the end it would be like adding -y to the end. When he was with his friends, away from Mr. Lighter, he refered to him as Baldy. When he was in front of the superior with his friends, he used the term Calvito.

Rubbing his sleeve over the t-story to absorb some of the drool Matthew closed it and hurried home. It was already dark outside, but he knew his way to Matt's mansion by this time. He had lived here for a few months and was beginning to find his way around. Matthew quietly entered the mansion and made his way to the room he was given. His room was on the third floor and the mansion was dark at this hour. In the daylight the mansion was an amazing sight to behold. It was super clean and white colored. Elegant pictures, trim, furnature and statues lined the rooms and corridors as well as chandaliers and carpet. There was just about anything one could want. When Matthew made it to his bed he sank into a deep sleep, not waking until the morning.

When Matthew arrived at the school he was relieved to remember that it was a Friday. There were a wide variety of people at the school who all had many different and unique powers. Several of Matthew's friends at the school included Jefe Kraemer, Ayden Morton, Isaigh Bartlett, Jimmy Booner, Nolan Pansy, and Shane Jerald. Of these, his immediate friends were Isaiagh Nolan and Shane but others included Nikki Snider, Shae Willis, Våren Willey, Kendra Yot, and Tara Walkur. These were the main people he interacted with, inside and outside of class.

When Matthew came into the school he saw that Isaiagh was in his normal spot, chilling with a spellbook near his permanent materials storage unit (on Earth this was known as a locker). Isaiagh was very tall for his age, he was only fourteen, and he was about six feet tall. He had short orange hair and a rather rectangular face. Isaiagh had become one of Matthew's first friends when he first moved to the school. Of course he was not nearly as good of friends as Matthew's best friend Tyler was, but Tyler was back on Earth. Matthew and Tyler were the best of friends, and there was not another peer whom he had a better friendship with. Matthew actually missed that.

"Hey, Ike. How did you sleep?" Matthew said. Isaiagh's nickname was Ike for many reasons, all of which were irrelevant.

Before Isaiagh could answer a bitter taste filled Matthew's mouth and anger enveloped his mind. Matthew's fists clenched and his muscles tightened. Such tension and stress was only caused by the negative energy and the evil emanating off of one person. Mattehw's arch nemesis had just walked by.

Among all of the trouble makers and hooligans of the school, none of them could compare to this entity. Austun Chavez. Chavez was one of the most unsimpathetic, empathy-lacking, self-centered, stuffed-shirt, two-faced, low-class person you could think of. He preyed off the moral and just by putting them down to build up his large ego. He was all talk and no action, so he posed no threat; but he was a severe annoyance.

"What?" Ike said.

"Oh, just Chavez. You know how much I hate him."

"Indeed. Just hang in there he will go away eventually."

From behind, somebody covered Matthew's eyes with giant hands. "Nolan," Mattehw said, "is that you?"

"Ah darn," a voice came from behind. "How did you know?"

"Well it is kind of obvious when the hands of a giant clamp over your eyes." Matthew said with a laugh.

Nolan was taller than Ike, with buzzed blonde hair. His hair was actually less than a millimeter long, peach fuzz as Shane liked to call it. Nolan had a head the shape of a pistachio with a very big nose and green eyes. He was not extremely muscular, but more on the lanky side. Nolan always had an interesting way of percieving things, but he always found a way to cause mischief. In the distance a loud yelling noise was heard. People were yelling and the sound of things slamming all over the place rang out through the hallways and all three of the boys looked at each other.

"Shane's here."

matthewrramon
12-02-14, 02:25 PM
Ike Nolan and Matthew were all looking down the hall waiting for Shane to make his way around. Random and bizarre incidents were nothing uncommon for Shane, but even up to this day he had not started the morning like this. They finally spotted him down the hall as the noises drew closer and Shane was soon visible down the hallway. He was sprinting down the corridor and passed the trio at record speed. Wherever he was going, he was going fast. Matthew did not know exactly why Shane was running but he thought the fact that Shane had no shirt or shoes on, was soaked from head to toe and was covered in a white powder resembling flour might have had something to do with it.

"Come on, let's follow him." Matthew said to the others picking up a jog behind Shane and the rest followed.

They followed Shane throughout the whole school until he reached a secluded bathroom that very few students knew about. This was the quartet's meeting place after school when they usually got together. Shane stopped and doubled over to catch his breath. Water dripped from his forehead, saturated with the white powder. It splashed on the floor leaving an obnoxious mark.

"Shane," Matthew said. "What is all this about?"

Shane looked up at Matthew, still doubled over and panting.

"Didn't you hear?" Shane said, "Mr. Lighter Killed Ayden."

"HE WHAT!?" Ike Nolan and Matthew all said in unison.

"So you cover yourself in flour and run around the school half naked??"

"When did he do that!?"

"Is that even legal?"

Shane caught his breath as a hundred questions were tossed his way. He listened to them all and stood up when he was ready.

"Apparently he didn't like the fact that Ayden was dating Elizabeth so he killed him." Shane said. "There's going to be this big assembly about it. Mr. Lighter has Ayden at home on his kitchen table."

"What's he going to do with him?" Nolan asked.

"Who knows. But we have to get him and find a way to bring him back."

"I know who we can take him to." Matthew said, "Matt knows everything about superhumans. He will know how to bring him back."

"Lets get going!" Shane yelled and took off towards the door.

"Shane wait," Isaiagh said. "At least clean off the flour before you go."

People were out on the streets, but Matthew made sure that him and the gang were not seen. The last thing he needed was people calling the local authorities on them because they were not in school. They stuck to the shadows and sneaked around the perimeter of town, but they could not venture too close to the wall or the guards would catch them.

"Okay," Matthew whispered, "does anybody know where baldy lives?"

Everybody shook their heads and looked around at each other. Now this was a tough spot. They were going to their principal's house, but nobody knew where it was.

"Does anybody know where it might be?"

The same situation occurred. Matthew thought and thought but no ideas came to mind. He assumed that Mr. Lighter would live in some place fancy, some ostentatious house which was extremely big and elegant. Matthew only knew of three structures in the colony that fit this description. One of them was Matt's mansion. Matthew knew that he did not live here because Matt would not allow it. The second house was in Eastwood acres on the east of the colony, and the third house was on Shadyside; a subdivision at the very south of the colony.

"I know he will live in either Eastwood acres or Shadyside, does anybody have any idea which one he might live in?"

"Matthew," Isaiagh said, "I know someone who may..."

Ike took charge and began to lead the group in the opposite direction that they had been traveling. He seemed to know his way by heart because he took them through all the back roads and alleys. They kept to the shadows and endured very little traffic. After a time Ike began to move faster. It seemed as if they were getting close. Then they turned a corner and Matthew's heart sank.

On the street they were about to cross were two local authority officers standing in the middle of the street. They wore yellow hats that signified their advanced skills in spellcasting, and held sheathed swords as well. No doubt, word had gotten out that the four boys were not in school.

"That's just great," Matthew complained. "Ike how far are we?"

"We are currently two blocks from the house we need to be at. Any idea on how to shake these guys?" Isaiagh replied.

"I've got it," Shane said.

Closing his eyes and pointing his finger down the road, Shane concentrated deeply. At first nothing happened, but shortly after a large explosion was heard and the sound of people yelling was evident. The officers looked towards the commotion and began to run towards the sound. Meanwhile Matthew and his friends ran across the street and continued on their way.

One of Shane's superhuman abilities was the power to create distractions. He could create a noise or an illusion that was only percieved by a select amount of people. The stronger the distraction, the more energy it took from him. This was mainly useful in classes when he wished to get the teacher to waste time.

"Shane," Matthew said as they hurried through the block. "That was a pretty big distraction are you okay?"

"I'll be alright," Shane said panting already. "Let's just get to that house so we can save Ayden."

The group was reaching another road, and fast. They were all beginning to tire so they stopped for a while to catch a breather. Matthew wanted to make sure the next road was clear so he sheepishly continued and peeked around the building that was obscuring his vision.

"Hey guys, slight problem..." Matthew said.

A senior authority officer was patrolling the next street. He wore a green beret to signify his adeptness in magic, swordplay, and brawling. The superhuman was roughly six feet tall and was extremely muscular. He wielded a Zweihänder and was slowly patrolling down the street.

"Holy crap, a senior!" Nolan exclaimed.

"How are we going to be able to do it this time?" Shane asked.

"Wait," Matthew said looking at the group. "Where did Ike go?"

They all looked at the street and saw Isaiagh walking right up to the officer. Everybody held their breath as the officer shouted at Isaiagh to get on the ground. Isaiagh stopped where he was and raised his hand in the direction of the officer. Out of the four friends, Isaiagh was the mage. He was more adept at magic than everybody in the entire school. He was hardcore into performing magic at home, in matches, and even in tournaments. The officer shouted for Isaiagh to not put down his hand but it was too late.

Ike uttered the incantation and the guard was out cold on the ground in a matter of seconds.

"Come on he won't be out for long!" Ike shouted

Running to the other side of the street Matthew made sure that everybody made it over safely.

"Okay Ike lead us to your guy." Matthew said. "And make it quick, we have to get to Baldy's house pronto."

After about five more minutes of jogging through the suburbs, they reached a shanty wooden house that was unpainted and rotting out. Isaiagh knocked on the door in a specific pattern and waited.

Matthew took a look around the house and noted the disgusting nature that the house was in. Trash covered the porch and windows were boarded up. Wood on the side of the house was rotting, and the whole house was practically covered in dirt. The one window facing the porch that was still intact had a large plant with spiky leaves obscuring the inside.

A squirrel jumped up on the porch and glared angrily at shane.

“Um, guys?” Shane said.

“Not now Shane,” Matthew said. “Ike, are you sure this is the right house?”

“Yeah he should have answered by now.” Ike replied.

“Guys?”

“Maybe he isn’t home?” Matthew suggested.

“No, he is always home.”

“GUYS!”

“What Shane??” Matthew said irritably, “What?”

He simply pointed to the small furry creature that was watching them.

“Really Shane, a squirrel?” Matthew said.

“Yes!” Isaiagh said, “this is one of his.”

“Um…” Matthew said confusedly. Just then the door opened and a taller person with buzzed brown hair answered the door.

“That’s right,” He said. “That’s my squirrely. I was watching you guys come from the school. What can I do ya for?”

“Doug!” Isaiagh said, “mind if we come in?”

“Sure thing buddy,” Doug said with a laugh. “But hurry. I don’t want any pigs snooping around here!”

The group hurried into Doug’s house, but he kept them brief. “So you need to know where Lighter’s house is?” he said.

“Yeah, is it on Shadyside or Eastwood?” Matthew replied.

“Well let’s find out.”

Closing his eyes, Doug lowered his head and two squirrels popped out of his forehead. They scurried out of the house and down the road.

“What are you looking for?” Doug said with his eyes still closed.

“A dead body. Ayden Morton to be exact.” Matthew said.

“Ahh I’ve never seen Lighter kill anybody before. Doesn’t surprise me though.”

Matthew tossed a confused look at Isaiagh, still not knowing what Doug was doing.

“Oh, spying is Doug’s power.” Ike said noting Matthew’s confusion. “He creates squirrels and can see anything that they see.”

“Speaking of which,” Doug interrupted opening his eyes. “You’ll never guess what I just saw.”

Matthew slowly crept through the shadows of Shadyside with his friends at his heels. They were almost at Mr. Lighter’s house, and the security on the streets was getting more and more complex. There were about 5 local authority officers and one senior authority officer on each street patrolling. The whole group was forced to take several detours to avoid apprehension.

By the time they reached the back door of the principal, school only had one hour left. They had to get Ayden quickly and make it to Matt before Baldy came to his house or they would be done for. Looking into the back window Matthew tried to spot the kitchen but found that he was looking into the living room.

“Guys, this is the living room. We will just have to go in here and find the kitchen.” Matthew said.

They found the back door and Matthew tried to break it down with no avail. After Matthew, Nolan tried with even less success. Shane backed up to ram the door and Isaiagh blasted it open with a fireball.

“Hey,” whined Shane, “I could have done it!”

“Sure you could have, Shane.” Isaiagh replied. “Be quiet, we are on a rescue mission.”

They entered the house and found that a staircase led to the right, an empty doorway led towards the middle section of the house, and there was a basement.

“I will look upstairs!” Shane said excitedly and began to run noisily up the incline.

“Oh my gosh Shane be quiet, you’re making a scene!!!!” Isaiagh shouted.

“HEY! NO SHOUTING ON THE SECRET RESCUE MISSION!” Nolan yelled

Shaking his head Matthew ran into the next room desperately searching for the kitchen. His friends were making way too much noise and it was only a matter of time before an authority officer heard the commotion. Running through many pointless rooms Matthew finally came across the Kitchen. It was bigger than any private kitchen Matthew had ever seen, but on the table he found what he was looking for. Spread out on the table, eyes closed and lifless lay Ayden Morton.

“Hey guys get in here and help me! I found him!” Matthew shouted. The rest of the group came running in. “Grab him.”

The four friends grabbed the fifth off the table and began to carry him to the door. Ayden was not the lightest fellow so it was rather difficult to move with him but they made it outside and to the edge of the subdivision before they had to set him down. Taking a quick breather, Matthew assessed how far it was to Matt’s mansion.

Matt’s mansion was all the way on the other side of the colony. This would have been a large enough task alone, but with Ayden it was impossible. Matthew kept scouring his mind for some other way that he could possibly make it to Matt in one piece…

Teleporter…

All superhumen stationed at the wall had the ability to teleport and teleport people to places. Matt’s mansion was the place that the guards were required to know how to teleport people to.

“Hey guys,” Mattehw said. “I have a plan…

matthewrramon

Matthew and Isaiagh carried Ayden between them, his arms on their shoulders and his head dropping like a bowling ball.

“Sir,” Matthew yelled to the guard on the wall. “Sir we need help, you have to teleport us to The Chief’s house right away! My friend has been injured and Matt needs to know before we can take him to the hospital.”
The guard eyed Matthew suspiciously and examined the 5 for a minute or so. “Why should I? How do I know you are not going to harm the chief?”

Matthew’s mind went blank. He was caught, he could not make up any lie that the guard would believe at this point.

“It’s okay Wester,” a voice on the wall said. “I know them. That one there is my son, Matthew.”

“Chief!” the guard said clicking his heels together and saluting Matt. “Chief I was only concerned for your safety sir!”

“And do you not believe I can handle myself with a few delinquents like these?” Matt replied. “Please teleport all of us to my house.”

“Right away sir!”

When all five were safely in the mansion, Matt rushed Ayden to one of the spare rooms and onto a bed. “Nolan go get the doctor,” Matt said. “Shane, go and get me some bandages. Isaiagh bring me lots of warm blankets.”

The boys rushed off to fetch what Matt had asked of them and The Chief looked weary. “What happened?”

Matthew proceeded to explain the situation to Matt who listened and nodded. “Yes, yes I feared that Regan would do something like this sooner or later. I am glad you boys did what you did. I am proud of you.”

Matthew felt a swell in his chest that he had done something right for once. When Shane returned with the medical supplies, Matt began to patch up Ayden. The boy had gashes all over his face and chest, and a fatal wound to the heart. Matt sewed up the areas that were the worst and bandaged everything. Nolan returned with the doctor who began to heal the sewed wounds and prep the body for revival.

Placing his hand on Ayden’s face, the doctor closed his eyes and concentrated deeply. After about five minutes Ayden’s chest began to rise and fall and everybody cheered. The doctor smiled weakly and sank into a chair, fatigued. Reviving somebody took a great deal of energy.

“Thank you doctor,” Matt said, “and thank you boys. You have done a great service to Ayden.”

“What will happen to Mr. Lighter?” Asked Shane.

“We will see about that,” Matt said. “We will see.”
