Solo. Don't count on seeing the best writing ever here.

"But ma'am!"

I didn't bother to listen.

"You don't have to go there,"

Why not? I have every right.

"What if you run into a Gorian Fel?"

I finally turned to glance at the maid racing up to me from behind. "A Gore-mis what?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes, "Heck, I could defeat a Forian Gel in a split second!"

The woman's head dropped, "Do you even know what a Gorian Fel is"

A blinked, suddenly feeling the urge to itch my head. "No?"

The woman sighed. For some reason she was irritated at me or something. I have no idea why, as this is none of her business. "Well, do you know about the N'jalian Spidermages?"

I was now scratching my head, "No javilan Spidermages?"

I finally got the feeling something was off when she facepalmed. "A- well... Look, at your age, and with no magic to guide you, going on your 'monster hunts' would be insane!"

Suddenly, my former discomfort fell off me like dead snake skin, "Who said I was sane?"

What was I doing now?

Wandering aimlessly in the Concordia Forest.

I was completely fine with it. I mean, I was only a short ways from the Ixian Castle... at least I think... It was a nice day out here. The sun was high in the sky, the trees sprouted beautiful green leaves. The grass was soft against my shoes. The wind and a few birds kept my ears occupied. I was happy to feel the wind to my back.

I pulled my backpack up my shoulder and to my neck. I smiled and walked on. It was a delightful day, a delightful day indeed. A delightful day to kill a monster.

I climbed up a hill then looked down. I was happy to see a cave up ahead. I clapped my hands together and cracked my knuckles. Surely I would find something to kill in there.

I scaled down and picked up two sticks. With my combined speed and strength, it didn't take long to rub them together and start a fire. Now that I had a torch, I turned to the eerie cave several yards in front of me. Footstep by footstep, I entered it.

There was little sound minus my heavy footsteps, echoing against the walls of the large cave. I stepped deeper into the cave slowly, keeping my defense's up. Even with the torch to light my path, it was hard to see well in here. It was not winter here, so there shouldn't be any bears around here.

I lowered my free hand into my throwing knife packet, located on my belt, and wrapped my agile fingers around on of my serrated knife's hilts. I blinked only when my eyes were dry. I felt my heart pounding, my stomach fluttering, and a smirk forming on my lips. This was exhilarating!

I finally had to duck down to see under a hole in the cave. I squinted, trying my best to see through. The light of my torch could only do so much, as the flame of the fire was beginning to dim. I have no idea how long I was looking now, but I was pulled away from my empty gaze when I suddenly felt warm air meet my skin. Then I heard it... heavy breathing. I blinked, why would a bear be in here this time of year??

But wait a second... something was off. Unless the bear was standing up, the feeling of it's breath shouldn't be on my head like that...

Another heavy breathe from the thing next to me blew my torch out. I scrammed.

With my speed, it was actually easy to scramble out of that cave. No sooner did I get out though did I trip over a rock.

Here's your slapstick gag for the day, ladies and gentlemen.

I quickly got up and turned around, facing the low hanging cave I came - um, we came from.

There it was. It was no lion, or tiger, or even my thought up bear. Nope, it was... I have no idea. It was like a cross between a bear and a human being. It looked like some kind of large ape that could stand on its two legs alone. Long, matty, dark brown fur covered its entire body. It had black eyes dark as a lost soul, it opened its mouth to reveal razor sharp teeth from front to back. It growled.

I, in turn, gulped. "Um..." I kept screaming in my head over and over again, I don't taste good! I taste awful! I haven't even had a bath in... However, it still let out a roar like a lion's. It charged towards me.

As it raced forwards, I got ready. I didn't want to get eaten by whatever that thing was, and I knew I wasn't. If anything, this was my monster for the day.

It thrust its hairy arm down with might. I flipped backwards and landed. Immediately it threw its other hand at me. I quickly drew my hands in front of me. My hands were met with an extremely strong punch. I only could throw myself up with my clenched hands. I was pretty strong, but not as strong as this monster. It yet again threw a fist at me. Midway in the air, I had no defense.

It tossed me back like a rubber ball.

Thankfully, I had excellent reflexes on my side. I saw myself headed for a tree and turned myself around. As I raced towards a large, oak trunk, I drew my heavy sword Calcator and allowed it to hit it first. I fell to the ground due to the heavy impact which forced me to let go of Calcator's hilt. I landed with a thud on a patch of dirt foot first. I looked up and growled. With Calcator being the only melee weapon I had, and it being stuck up in a tree, I would have a much harder time fighting this thing that appeared three times bigger than me.

I saw it glancing at me several yards away, I sighed and started trying to find tactics while I had the chance.

The hairy creature charged at me again. I found myself rolling aside as it threw another knuckle sandwich at me. This time, I took another step back and reached into my throwing knife sack, drawing one of my serrated knives. I pulled myself into position (minus ny feet, which were still racing backwards) and darted my eyes up and down for the best place to strike. When it started racing towards me again, my reflexes agreed on blindly throwing it at the hairy guy's forehead.

The thing was stopped by the knife for a moment, stopping to feel the pain of my iron, serrated sharpy drilled between its eyes. It then turned to me and screeched in anger.

I screamed in return, my anger for this entire trip driving me, "Well, what should I do then!? Give you tea and a 'pwewy hat?!? You started it!"

Of course, it didn't listen. It just lashed out at me again.

After back flipping, avoiding the massive punch another time, I drew another throwing knife. Twirling it in my finger, I looked for another place to try and hit the creature I was fighting. I tossed the blade into its neck, the weapon ripping the air around it, making the sound of whipping wind. And I was lucky enough... to once again miss a vital spot. I looked up into the monster's soulless eyes, it was triple times more infuriated than before.

I decided to try to run again.

I earned my nickname "Jet" for a reason. I was quick on my feet and had impressive reflexes. I was able to outrun the bear slash human thingy, but only up until I reached a tree. I was able to scale up it like a cat, lifting myself to safety with my mighty arms. I looked down from a bare, sturdy branch I was on. I dare not swing my legs over the gaping nails of the hands of the creature I saw. The tree I scaled was one I chose wisely, it was strong and sturdy... although, once the monster started shaking the old oak it didn't feel that way.

Leaves fell off the branches. I clung pathetically to the branch I was on. This guy certainly was not happy! I sighed in exhaustion, my plans were beginning to run out.

I considered pulling out my wooden crossbow pistol, Shok. I didn't know though, would I lose my grip on the branch and fall? I already had my throwing knife pack open, maybe I could attempt to throw one into my opponent's skull. Just when I started to move a shaky hand for one though, the remaining four that I had left fell out. Two fell onto the monster's skull hilt first, falling to the ground. The third missed completely. I could not stay here any longer. I drew another weapon of mine, my toxins pistol, and stood up.

I only had a moment to do so, but I managed to jump off the tree and onto the ground. I rolled over and immediately pulled myself up. From the jump, I gained several scrapes and scratches from snagging branches. I could feel my cheek bleeding. I hissed at the pain, one of my eyes half closed, and looked on to my attacker.

I kept my small pistol at hand. The weapons was currently loaded with a canister of gaseous irridant. To keep the monster ahead of me at bay, I had a plan.

I pulled my hand out to it and motioned it forwards with my finger, "Here, cranky, cranky, cranky."

As if it understand my taunt, it let out another mighty howl and chared at me. I pointed my pistol and pulled the trigger. Brown gas covered the monster's face. Before it had time to wack me with its now flying arm, I raced up the tree again. Now that the tree wasn't shaking, I was able to stand on the branches. I put my small pistol away and pulled my crosspistol out. I locked and loaded it quickly. I aimed...

And...

I pulled the trigger.

The iron bullet pierced the monster's head. Dark red crimson squirted from the wound, I'd gotten its brain! The monster still flung its arms around, but it was slouching over. It was dying.

I had no time to sympathize, I shot it again. Now four bolts were lodged into its head. Engulfed in its skull. I stayed were I was as the monster fell down, dead.

I made my kill for the day.

I climbed down the tree, my cuts still causing a reoccurring sting. I limped over. I kicked it just to make sure it was dead. I let myself go limp when I realized it was. I sighed in relief and stalked over to the tree where Calcator was gorged into an oak tree. I crossed my arms and smiled, anyone who hasn't been here a moment ago would be asking how in the world it got up here...
