History:

There is a tomb in the heart of Scara Brae (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?26438-Bard-To-Death-(Closed)&highlight=bard+to+death). Built over the old fountain in Market Square, a white tree grows from its rock. The tree remains in bloom eternal, cherry blossoms dancing in rain, sun, and snow. Through each and every season, and each kindness and misgiving, the city is reminded of the Tantalum troupe – of the sacrifice its heroes make to keep it safe. But. The tomb is empty. There is an empty coffin, thick steel bound with enchantment to never lay its secrets bare. The Tomb of the Bard is an epitaph to keep a secret. The secret that the Forgotten Ones live. That they, in their moment of triumph, can kill even gods.

When the curse finally took Duffy’s life, it propelled him into the Aria. It entombed him there, and tormented him with a thousand years of nightmares. His body remained lifeless, undying, but unanimated by his usual cheeky vigour. Then along came an elf.

Duffy Bracken has somehow come back from the dead. Of all the people to save him, it was the ignoble thief (or so people call her, she’s apparently quite nice once you get to know her) Alydia Ettermire dragged the bard’s corpse from the back of beyond. She unwittingly returned him to Raiaera (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?28175-Lift-the-Curse-Wake-the-Dead) and into the kinship arms of his new family. Of course, waking up after centuries imprisonment in your own conscious is never easy, so the man called Duffy Bracken, lost and bewildered, has a lot of soul searching to do.

Forging a path out of the Bladesinger council’s ‘protection’, he has reached out to the people in his life that he trusts, but trusts the least. The dark elf herself, quick-witted and resourceful, and Sei Orlouge – a man the bard before hated like a father, but loved all the same. Despite the temptations to the contrary, he cannot let Ruby Winchester, Lillith Kazumi, Arden Janelle, and Pettigrew Jones know of his revival. Too much time has passed, too much grief suffered to pick at scabs. At least for now.

Shin still shattered, corruption of the Forgotten One Oblivion still ailing him, there is one objective Duffy wishes to complete. He will never sleep. He will never rest. He will never die whilst Oblivion and Apotheosis survive. The Red Forest needs healing. The tomb of the Nihilomancer must be broken open, and the many ghosts that keep the creature on this plane must be shattered. Apotheosis, not seen in centuries, needs casting into the Tap and all the portals for that strange, desolating and corrupting power to end closed for good.

With red hair, pierced lips, and a sudden fondness for way bread, star gods, and singing, Duffy is compelled to fight for the Bladesingers. Compelled to finish what the Forgotten Ones started, he stands to call upon the heroes of the world one final time (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?28185-See-No-Evil-Hear-No-Evil-(Closed)&highlight=bard+to+death) – like the Dawnbringers before, and the End of Days to come when Althanas dies and the stars make humankind their friends…
