View Full Version : Something a little different (Althie d&d group?)
Section I: overview
Hey folks. I've seen people express off-and-on interest in starting/joining an online d&d group. Now, after I've been playing for a couple of years, I thought I'd put myself forward to DM if anyone is still interested. So here's the breakdown:
Q. Which edition will we play?
A. I'd like to run a 5th edition campaign, but possibly set in the world of Althanas. Although it's just come out, the core rules and DM guide (http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules?x=dnd/basicrules) are available for free online, so there's plenty of material to get going.
Q. What's the campaign?
A. I tried to run a moderated quest some time ago in Serenti, called the Puppeteer's Praxes. We made very little ground despite its length, so I think this would be worth revisiting, especially since I have a load of game notes made up for it already. I've run another campaign of similar style in the Silver Pub (completely different story and setting), and the two sessions there ran much more smoothly than in PbP format. As such, I have much higher hopes for this quest if I use it as a d&d campaign, which is basically what the Silver Pub sessions were modeled off.
Q. What do I need to keep in mind when creating my character?
A. You could try and convert your Althanas characters over if you like, or make up brand new ones - but everyone will start at level 1 and with the basic starting equipment. If you look through the core rules, you'll see a few options for race (dwarf, elf, halfling, and human) and classes (cleric, fighter, rogue, wizard). However, I own a copy of the player's handbook, which has a much better range of both. In addition to the above races, it includes rules for half-elves, half-orcs, gnomes, dragonborn and tieflings. It also includes the barbarian, bard, druid, monk, paladin, ranger, sorcerer, and warlock, as well as the full specialization options for the four classes included in the core ruleset (and a few other bits and bobs). So I'd be happy to help people build their characters, with as much or as little oversight as you see fit.
Q. Who can join?
A. This is open to everybody! I wouldn't want to run a group of more than five people, though. If I get well over that number, what I'll probably do is pick people from the different pseudogroups we have on Althanas (something which I am quite guilty of fostering myself). Hopefully, that means that even if not all of us write together, we'll get to RP together a little more.
If you're new to d&d but still interested, you're more than welcome to join! I've always been a bit of a rules freak, so I can walk people through the first few sessions easily enough. And like I said, I'd be happy to handle the majority of your character building if you want to throw even just a vague idea of what you want to play as.
Q. When will we play, and how long/often?
A. Given that majority of you folks are in the US, I would probably say a weekday evening (that'll keep your weekends free for IRL socializing, and I usually have my mornings free here on the other side of the world), and only for 2 to 3 hours per session. This would ideally be a weekly or fortnightly thing, but all of the above really depends on who ends up in the group.
Q. Alright then, how will we play?
A. Roll20 (http://roll20.net/) should meet all our RP needs. Apparently we can play through Google Hangouts, which is handy, because having a microphone will be essential.
That's about it for now. If you have any questions or wish to show interest, please post here! Ta :)

Section II: availabilities
The table below is at MST (-7), just because it fits in the table best. When people say they finish work at x time, I've added half an hour to allow travel home. Also, if no end time has been specified, I've generally assumed that you'll want to wrap up at around 11pm (your time). Keep it coming, guys!

Section III: character creation
Since one or two of you aren't familiar with d&d, or at least not with 5th edition, I thought I'd give you guys a rundown on the races, classes and backgrounds as they appear in the player's handbook. While this might give you some inspiration, what you might prefer is to come up with a character idea first, and then see how best to make it fit. The character creation is flexible enough that doing so shouldn't really be a problem.
Races:
Dwarf: dwarves are tough, skilled artisans, with a strong understanding of caverns and stonework. As with elves, each dwarf is taught to use the weapons of their people - in this case, hammers and axes.
Hill dwarf: you're a wiser, gentler counterpart to your mountain cousins, but in some respects, even hardier than they.
Mountain dwarf: you're intensely strong as well as tough, and supplement your weapon proficiency with an affinity for light and medium armour.
Elf: graceful and refined. Elves have keen senses, a resistance to certain enchantments, and are proficient in the use of certain traditional weapons.
High elf: you have a natural affinity for wizardy, and are a little brighter than other elves.
Wood elf: you are at home in the wilderness, and posses an earthy wisdom.
Dark elf: you are at home in the darkness, and uneasy in the light. You have an innate spellcasting ability, but of a different nature to that of high elves. Your weapon training, too, varies from that of other elves.
Halfling: small, curious, and good-natured. Halflings are extremely nimble and lucky characters, and also stout of heart.
Lightfoot halfling: you are inherently stealthy, and charming enough to get away with whatever mischief this gets you into.
Stout halfling: you possess a dwarf-like hardiness and resistance to poisons.
Human: the ultimate generalists. Some humans forego this well-rounded aspect to specialise in certain areas. Humans are a good choice for any class and background.
Dragonborn: draconic ancestry obviously features in your family history. You have their strength of body and personality, and their elemental affinity: you can breathe fire (or lightning, or frost, or acid - depending on the colour of your ancestor), and are naturally resistant to damage from that type.
Gnome: gnomes are small, erratic, and ingenious. Gnomes are remarkably resilient to many mind-affecting spells.
Forest gnome: you're a little nimbler, have a natural affinity for illusion magic, and can communicate with small animals.
Rock gnome: you're a little hardier, and a dedicated artificer.
Half-Elf: half-elves are naturally charismatic. They are typically well-studied individuals, skilled and fluent, and benefit from their fey ancestor's resistance to certain enchantments.
Half-Orc: half-orcs excel as front-line warriors. Big, strong, and born for battle, most other races find half-orcs to be intimidating.
Tiefling: a tiefling is the spawn of devils and humans. They are quick-witted, naturally charismatic (or intimidating), resistant to fire, and can draw on their infernal heritage to cast some spells.
Classes:
Barbarian:
Bard:
Cleric:
Druid:
Fighter:
Monk:
Paladin:
Ranger:
Rogue:
Sorcerer:
Warlock:
Wizard:

I'm in!
This sounds awesome! I'm interested. : )

11-23-14, 08:18 AM
Oh man. This is how my current group does it because we're spread way out all over the state.
I'm expressing interest, but yeah, I have to see how I can work it into my schedule at this point. Hopefully things start calming down and then I'll be all about this.
Alydia Ettermire
11-23-14, 08:24 AM
Tentative interest.
Depending on the time, I'm in.
I'm interested, but need to see if the lady would be alright with me hogging the PC once a week. Do we have an estimated or preferred start date. Holidays coming up and all?

I would be seriously interested ... please please please. :D I do a lot of RP and ummm... yes.
grim137
11-23-14, 11:38 AM
I'd be down for this. I've always wanted to learn how to play D&D.
Alright, seeing a lot of interest here. Excellent! I think the next step will be to work out availabilities. This is going to be super tricky with an Aus/UK/US crowd, so unless by some miracle the calendars align, I can only think of two solutions: 1) drop a few players, which I'm loathe to do, or 2) make two groups and alternate between them on a weekly-ish basis. It'll take time to set up a second campaign, but there's plenty of material to work with: dragon attacks, rebuilding Salvar/Raiaera, hunting down bandit gangs left by the civil war in Corone... we can have a lot of fun with this.
So, if you have any times/days/dates that you think you would be available for, put them down here, and I'll add it to the main post. Then with a little cross-checking, we should be able to sort something out. I can't say when we'll get going with this, but the sooner we get a time slot and characters sorted out, the sooner we can begin.
Feel free to hit me up any time with a PM or in chat to talk about this, and especially character creation :)
I don't know how this stuff works, but is it possible to set up a type of campaign that'd consist of episodic adventures? Then sessions could be held at various times to accommodate different combinations of people, and whoever's available from the League of Adventurers can jump in for that round? (Not trying to hijack any ideas you had at all –– kind of curious in general about that one! Totally cool if that's not viable with this particular game!)
I'm generally pretty flexible as long as it isn't during work hours, which are between 8:30 am–5:30 pm ET.
Sadly, the only way to know that we'd get cover a specific amount of the story arc in a session would be if I made you do it. I'd much rather give you freedom to do whatever, though, so there's no way of knowing how long it'll take you to do a certain thing - or even if you choose to do it at all.
Thanks for posting your availability, that's a great help!

I get home at 5:30 EST on weekdays, but I podcast every other Tuesday, play Pathfinder every other Thursday, and play 3.5 every other Friday. Depending on everyone else's schedule, I may not be the best fit for this venture.
Out of work at 5:30 pm MST. Weekends are largely free.
I can make time whenever, but I'm usually busiest on the weekends.
Philomel
11-24-14, 07:31 AM
Since I am probably the awkward one I will fit in with whatever. I am happy to stay up on into the wee hours of the morning for this. Most "evenings" for me, which is 8pm onwards GMT. - apart from the weeks I am recording the podcast.
Last time I played D and D I had a Drow assassin. I have a character creator thing on my computer for it, so will look around but could go paladin maybe (halfling). Or I am willing to go healer.
Everyone laughed at my handling pally, but he was a badass. I'm happy to fill whatever role the party needs; I've been most everything.

11-24-14, 07:48 AM
I'm usually available after 5:30 cst. This week will be an exception since I'm travelling for Thanksgiving.
I'm still working on the campaign, but should have enough to get our first session rolling in a bit. Don't forget to post your availabilities once you have them, and as I've said before, feel free to throw some character ideas by me. I've already homebrewed up a race for Luned, so if you wanted to go for something that isn't strictly covered in the available 5th edition rules, I'd be happy to try and work something out!
Philomel
11-26-14, 10:15 PM
Otto: will you be doing it via roll20 or another online system?
Also, I will look up the D and D 5 races and see what exciting creatures there are to go. I know faun is a special race for Pathfinder ...
I'm thinking Roll20, but I want to give it a bit of a test run first. If anyone wants to help with that, I'll let you know when it's going to happen. Furthermore: I also hope to record these sessions, so that we can post them in the podcast forum. So, people, let me know if you'd prefer not to be recorded :)
As for faun, I'd be happy to work out a conversion to 5e with ya! I know that satyrs are a playable race in 4e, and I imagine they'd be a very similar build. But I'm not seeing much in the way for Pathfinder. As a preliminary estimate, I'd say a faun should get a bonus to Dex and Cha (+2/+1), darkvision, training in bluff, and advantage on saving throws vs fear... probably one or two other things, but we can go over all that.
Philomel
11-27-14, 03:13 AM
If you need any help I will be glad to help :D Practise runs or just working the thing. I have run a game on roll20 before ... it was a vampire My Little Pony RP. Yeah, as awesome as it sounds.
Fauns and satyrs are essentially the same thing. Whatever the stats for them in 4e could be transferred over (?) I will do some research!!! :D
Hmm, for character translations, I could either bring a tiefling rogue, high elf paladin, or human sorceress.
Phi:
The 4e rules for satyr (faun) are:
+2 CHA, and either +2 CON or +2 DEX.
Low-light vision.
Light of Heart: you can make saving throws both at the start of your turn and at the end of your turn against fear effects that a save can end.
Pleasant Recovery: you regain 1d8 additional hit points for each healing surge you spend during a short rest.
Sly Words: bluff is always a class skill for you.
Lure of Enchantment: you have the lure of enchantment power.
After looking at the 5e race traits, this is how I'd expect it to convert over:
+2 CHA and either +1 CON or DEX.
Darkvision 60'.
Light of Heart: you have advantage on saving throws against fear effects.
Pleasant Recovery: (this one's tricky. A bonus 1d8 will probably be a bit much, but I think allowing you to re-roll any 1s when spending hit die to regain health during a short rest would translate well).
Sly Words: you are proficient in the deception skill.
Lure of enchantment: at fifth level, you can cast enthrall once per day. CHA is your spellcasting ability for it.
What do you think? Any twists on the race that you'd like to try out?
Lye:
All those races are covered in the player's handbook, as are the classes. I can get you the rules for whichever of those you're interested in :)
Depends on our other line-up. I prefer the rogue for DPS, but if we are short on tank/healer I can go Pally or if we lack magic, Sorceress.
Alydia Ettermire
11-27-14, 11:56 AM
Play to your preference, Lye. I'm always the fill-in. :)
For the record, I'll be playing a dwelf (half-elf, half-dwarf) ranger! She's a dirty hippy hermit from Concordia who has a liger and a giant axe.
Philomel
11-27-14, 02:31 PM
Lye, I am thinking of going satyr bard/healer person so no worries there. xx
Phi! Daisy plays lute! Can we have a band???
Philomel
11-27-14, 03:13 PM
Ohhhhh!!! Yes please :D
Leaf, her brother actually does and IC he is going to teach Philomel :3
Alright folks, two things.
First of all, as a preliminary estimate, it looks like we'd be running the game at 1830 to 1900 MST on a Monday or Wednesday night (GMT 0130 to 0200 Tues/Thurs, I think). That would give Lye a bit extra time to get home and have some noms, and give everyone else a couple of hours before you folks need to get to bed.
Second of all, I've gotten a bit more interest from Christoph and Cards of Fate about joining. That would mean possibly 10 people altogether, which is way too many for one group... but certainly enough for two. So I'm going to offer to DM a second group, and work on a campaign on it while the Puppeteer's Praxes is underway. It'll be a bit of a wait to get going, but once it's up, we might be able to alternate sessions between groups on a weekly or fortnightly basis. How does that sound?
Edit: 3 things! If you could PM me your Roll20 emails so I could add you to the game, that would be appreciated :)
Who's up for running a test campaign ~1900 MST, Thursday night (tonight)? It's a bit short notice I know, and we could hold it off until Monday night if that's better for you, Karuka. I expect it would only take an hour to get through, although fiddling around with Audicity and such may extend things.
EDIT: after messing around in Audicity, I'm almost positive that I will need a better mic, too.
Alydia Ettermire
12-04-14, 06:04 AM
I'm playing Pathfinder tonight, Otto.
EDIT: never mind, Pathfinder cancelled tonight. We're good here.
Philomel
12-04-14, 06:18 AM
I will be on tonight. By my calculations if you are mountain time it means you are 7 hours behind, which means the campaign starts at 2 am for me. That is fine as I will have a nap beforehand.
Question on characters: will you give us character sheets, then, or do you need us to do anything for making them?
Sorry, Phi, I thought you said you got access to the 5e rules for bard already. Whoops :/
I'll whip up a character sheet for you and we can tweak it later, maybe if you're up and can join us a little early? If you want, you can also leave me a general idea of what type of build you'd like.
Same goes for you, Karuka. I can help hash out your character before we start. And since this is just a test, we can keep tweaking them afterwards, so there's no pressure to come up with anything final :)
Philomel
12-04-14, 09:33 AM
Otto;
I found a sort of description online thing, but have no idea where to start as far as a 5e character sheet goes. I will do some research and come up with something, but did not know if you were wanting me to make a sheet, or you make it blah blah. I will have a look around.
Or I will catch you in chat.
I'll be in chat for a bit longer, and got the Player's Handbook ready to go. Let's do this!
Accidental log out at the end there! Sorry! Thanks for the game, it was fun. I just need to avoid giant acorns and angry furry rodents with banjos. Looking forward to next time!
That's Monday or Wednesday right?
Thank you for organizing and running that, Otto, it was a really good time and your patience was super appreciated! I definitely needed that practice round to get used to doing that over audio, that's for sure. We've got a great group! And I'd also like to thank everyone else for being super cool. : )
Philomel
12-05-14, 04:52 AM
Damn, they beat me to the first thank you.
Anyway, thank you Otto for such a great game, it was really really good. Honestly, I think I do like d and d 5e; it seems a pretty good system. Better than 4e anyway.
Yours,
Fee Fi Fo Fum.
Aw, thanks! You guys make a really good group, though, and I had a lot of fun myself. I'm looking forward to getting the recording up for peeps to listen to. And Ailsa, I only noticed that I was pronouncing your shorthand name incorrectly when I went back to listen to the audio (whoops). Talk about selective hearing.

I'm anticipating an awesome campaign if last night was anything to go by.
Same here. It's an awesome group! Hopefully you can counter my dead, monotone delivery :P

Good. We need our trap disarming drone.
You mean acorn fodder? lol

I'd have gotten to it if you hadn't jumped on the pressure plate. First thing I was worried about was "is there someone/something hiding underneath this?" The arrow was meant to spook them out. Not to check for traps. I didn't want to go check for traps and then get stabbed in the neck.
As tempted as I am to make you keep playing as the fair lady, I can work your mage into the next test campaign session if you prefer, Cory.
Jack, remind me to remind you that you can Lay on Hands to get back to full HP. I won't give these sorts of hints for the proper campaign, but you may want to do that before moving on from the cave entrance :)
Just need to hear back from Ailsa, now *crosses fingers*.

So next week is out - I'd only be free for a Monday night session, which doesn't work for Sarah. However, I have also been contemplating doing a weekend session every now and then to make things easier for Ailsa. This would mean a morning start for peeps over in the states (~8-10am), and early afternoon for our resident Scot. Either Saturday or Sunday would work for me, but I believe Cory is a bit busy on the weekends. So, how does that sound?
Pestarzt
12-12-14, 11:42 PM
I can do a Sunday morning.
Whether I wake up at 8 is an entirely different matter.
I'm generally flexible in weekends!
Philomel
12-13-14, 05:38 AM
You mean this coming Sunday? As in tomorrow? I am working tomorrow, however next weekend I am free :D
Tomorrow I will be working until umm... half 5 in the afternoon GMT.
Oh, I can't do tomorrow -- but next weekend probably!
Should have clarified, sorry. Yes, I meant next Sunday (this one is certainly too short notice).
Looks promising, though. Awesome!
Okay, next Sunday it is! It's going to be early for you, Jack: 8am start, which means an 11pm start for me. I might be able to push that back an hour if it helps, though.
So now we're on the main campaign, I'm going to require a few things from you fine folks, as well as myself:
No metagaming. Your character can't act on information they can't realistically be expected to have, and no spending two minutes in the middle of your turn discussing strategy with each other. Your characters can still communicate briefly during combat, though (each round is supposed to last for about 6 seconds, as a rule of thumb).
Try to avoid playing other people's characters. Unless someone specifically asks for help (and so long as giving it wouldn't be metagaming), let's not give people suggestions as to what they should do. You all should be able to have the enjoyment of figuring out your PCs for yourselves.
Know what's on your character sheet! Important. You're free to ask questions about what the feats and abilities actually do, but it will be up to you to remember all your powers.
Those are all the most important things to keep in mind, I believe. Can't wait to start!
Resolve

Just fyi, I have an obligation that means we'll need to wrap up by 1 pm EST, but hopefully that isn't an issue!
Then we'll have to start at 10:00 AM EST on the dot. Sarah has my cell, she can call me if i'm not up by 9:30 or so.
Alydia Ettermire
12-20-14, 04:11 PM
I should give 1-3 of you my cell just in case, but I'll pretty much definitely be up by eight.
I'm going to draw the line at the two-hour mark anyway, because of my own obligations. So don't worry about us going over, Sarah :)

I've spoken with Michelle. She can make Sunday, 10 AM EST (08:00 MST) work for her as well. That only leaves Jack's availability in question.
It is settled, then. No more delays, I promise!
I also motion for a three way Luned, Otto, and Lye live drawing sesh.
I support the motion, outclassed as I am.
I third the motion, though I'm not sure I get a vote.

I VOTE YES TOO :D

Would people be free next Sunday (the 25th) for our next session? Asking because reasons
Philomel
01-16-15, 04:06 PM
Conceivably ... Possibly.
I am on holiday with my boyfriend and his family. His father is pretty ill and not going to last until summer so this is a sort of last holiday for him. Which is why I need to definitely go.
That saying however, I will be back in the evening. So, depending on times etc, I can do the night (if it is a midnight thing for me it is perfect :D )
So sorry to hear, best wishes to you guys and his family!
I pitched that time because I'll be at Cory's that morning and thought it would be funny to do D&D in the same room, but I'll have to head home that afternoon so I can prep for the work week. Either way, no big deal. : )

It would be awesome, I get that entirely! It depends what time zone Cory and yourself will be in. Because it may work.
Also, thank you :) Its okay though. We have been knowing for around a year that he was not going to be able to fight the disease, and you never know - he may surprise us and live another 15 years!!!

I could.
That would be 8am Monday for me - and I have work all day, sorry.
But why not this Sunday?
Ailsa, it's good of you to be doing that for the family. I'm sorry to hear it, but I also hope you all have a wonderful time.
I'm spending Saturday night at some friends', so I don't think I'll be back until it'd be too late for Otto on a work night. Sorry : (
And I am working this Sunday until 16:00, unfortunately.
I should point out that I can be a very dull person, and if there's a Saturday night that other's are free, I'm more than willing to spend that time playing D&D - provided it's not a Saturday when I'm doing my other D&D game.
Sunday night (US time) might work for me after all. Any time would be good, really, though let's come up with something reasonable for Ailsa if we can.
Ailsa said midnight would be fine for her. That would be 8am Monday for me, and I guess 7 or 5pm for the rest?
Philomel
01-23-15, 05:58 PM
Basically - we are no longer going away for the weekend as his father got so ill. Sunday midnight might be okay, I might need to shift a couple of things around, but it should be okay.
Sorry to hear that, Phi. If you're not up to it, that's fine - or we could set it earlier if that helps, maybe. Sarah and Cory should be alright to play in the morning, I believe.

>> NOTE: I got a Facebook PM from Jack/Lye saying that he is busy.
Oh nooo :(
Ah well, we can wait another week or two, I'm sure :)
Weekends are currently best for me. Some time next weekend, folks?
It'd have to be Sunday night. Saturday morning is errands time, then from the afternoon to sometime on Sunday I'm with friends.
Philomel
01-25-15, 05:34 AM
I can more or less keep next weekend free.
Else, Jack says its okay to RP without him. But I know you like having everyone there, Mr Otto, Sir.
We can't combat without him. :-( It's not like these are squirrels.
I was up in Oregon visiting family and chopping firewood. Man, I love chopping wood. Broke the axe in the process. D:>
Michelle: your Sun night is my Mon morning, which is super early work for me. So... poo :(
Could we do this Friday night/Otto's Saturday Morning/Ailsa's witching hour?
Or are you people just more popular than me. :(
Friday night I have DnD face to face. But! I'm trying to arrange to get my Saturday errands some tonight and Friday morning, so maybe our Saturday morning/Otto's Saturday night/Ailsa's Saturday afternoon?
I work Saturday and Sunday mornings, sadly.
So, I'm free Sunday the 8th and 15th of February. If everyone else is available, I vote for 10:00 EST for those two days, so we can fit two sessions in.
That means 15:00 GMT for Philomel, and 08:00 MST for Jack.

I can make both of those days happen.
Philomel
01-31-15, 02:26 AM
I can make them happen. With MAGIC!
11pm Sunday (my time) the 8th works, I believe.
I should be able to manage that.
Yeah, that's doable! Will you be alright doing it that late with work sometimes so early in the morning, Otto?
PS: Thought you guys might be interested in checking this out: https://heroforge.com/
I can handle it... the alternative is not doing d&d at all, it would seem, and I know which I prefer!

My apologies for bailing. First off I slept in a bit, then when I went to go upstairs I was given sass for ignoring blowing her off. We had another talk, so I should be free next time.
Hopefully Sieg wasn't violated too terribly.

He was a pincushion.
Not enough of one, in my opinion. But hey, at least I got Idara! And the start of the next session should be fun, too : )
We were thinking of a Wednesday evening session, Jack, after work for you. About 6 o'clock your time, or 6:30 if you want a little more time to chill once you're home. Just, uh, clear it with the missus next time please :P

I am particularly curious, who is what class/race? Are you building your pc's at all around your Althanas archetypes?
Because I was thinking... Closest thing Rakh would be to a D&D character would be a Druid (Circle of the Moon) and Barbarian (Berserker).
Because turning into a huge angry rage-bear makes sense.
Philomel
02-09-15, 03:28 AM
Most of us created original characters for this, which have now been made alts for ourselves.
Mine is a satyr/faun bard who I later made in the form of Blodwen, one of my alts.
Lye already had Siegfried and he is an elf.
Other characters we have are; another elf (The Mongrel aka Illara), a dwelf (half-elf, half-dwarf) called Daisy and a human by the name of Idara. I think most of them at least are now alts of our originals.
I have a bard, there are two magic people and a fighter I think. Not too sure on their exact classes.
My go-to archetype for Althanas is a faun anyway (I actually have three of them) and so Otto was kind enough to work out a system for me to have one. :) Same for the dwelf in this case.
Alydia Ettermire
02-09-15, 05:12 AM
The Mongrel was actually built after the DnD character, when a writing doodle turned into a much bigger thing than intended.
Daisy is a dwelf ranger. She's the cauldron baby of Althanas' equivalents to Legolas and Gimli, fulfilling my desire to write cheesy fanfic and serving as an outlet for my beard envy. Also she has a giant cat and plays ukulele. Okay, she may be a shameless self insert.
Guess I need to make her a forum PC now that everyone else has, huh?
If you do, Sarah, I am going to make that DM alt.
Also, Ithermoss: I can highly, highly recommend a Circle of the Moon druid. There's nothing like turning into a bear and eating people. Or a tiger, and eating people. Or a giant toad, and eating people (while they're still alive, in that case). Etc.
Ithermoss
02-09-15, 10:30 PM
I was actually thinking of doing Circle of the Moon/Barbarian/Monk.
Because a bear with rage and flurry of blows with Grappler? Oh my God. I will suplex people as a bear, and then go all Wing Chun on them while he's down.
Maybe 3 levels barb for frenzy, a good amount (?) of monk to get tons of attacks, and the rest druid.
Devonus
02-11-15, 10:10 PM
I know monk/druid is usually outlawed in alot of formal circles, due to its OPness. It all comes down to hourse rules on that matter though. My go to character is a Half Orc feral druid
Use the orcs racial ability to have a bite attack, buff it with stuff, and you have 3 attacks from level one if you choose.
We're all going to try again for next Wednesday, 8:30 PM (20:30) EST. Ailsa, that's 1:30 AM for you - Jack, that's 6:30 PM for you - Dave, it's the present for you but the future for us?
And we can finally find out just how those concrete shoes work in the sewer.
EDIT: Damn AM/PM

If we're talking EST PM, sure bet. Wednesday EST AM will only ever work for me if it's a holiday. :-P
Wednesdays sometimes have stuff, but that stuff hasn't happened for the past two weeks, so it's probably fine!
I might not be up for that. I'll already be missing work Mon to Wed next week, because of pre-semester lectures. Thursday and Friday might be my only two days to earn $$$ from my week job then.
How about a Sunday morning session on the 22nd?
That will not work for me, I'm afraid. I'm working that day.
This is a video of some guys playing a homebrew D&D campaign. Pretty high production quality and it's an interesting setup. I thought you guys might appreciate it.

Cory suggested a Sat night game for everyone. Could have an early on if everyone has stuff on - a 5 or 4pm start EST?
My Saturday night begins around 6:00 PM. But I may be engaged for an additional hour and a half if I end up going to that birthday party.
Would people be free for a Sunday session this weekend?
Philomel
03-06-15, 03:46 AM
It depends on the time. I am playing Mekton RP during day time.
Alydia Ettermire
03-06-15, 05:07 AM
Should be.
I'm afraid it would be a day thing for you, Ailsa. Maybe another time then.
Are people free and interested in playing this Sunday, at the usual times? Morning in the states, and the afternoon in Scotland?
Philomel

*fails as a human being*
I am away for the weekend with Grumble's family. Unless I manage to sneak a couple of hours free, I may have to say no I am not free.
Philomel
04-03-15, 04:42 PM
Okay!!!
When are people free this week? LETS GO!!
I have failed as a human being the last couple of suggested times, but I can work things out for this week. I am now on holiday. :D ... so that means a midnight is not hard for me!
Talked it over with Sarah and Michelle so far - looks like next Sunday (12th) would be the earliest we can play?
Philomel
04-04-15, 06:35 PM
Yes I can. Will make it so commander :D
I... kind of forgot about this. I'm free all day tomorrow, and Cory is too!
Alydia Ettermire
04-11-15, 02:24 PM
I can make it happen. I'm meeting my writing goals.
Philomel
04-12-15, 02:53 AM
Are we delaying a wee bit? I totally forgot too but can make stuff happen. :P I don't mind delaying a couple of days, or a week. I don't think Jack has seen this message wall.
I'd prefer to play with Jack, sorry. Plus I'm a little busier with uni than I'd like, so having a few extra hours for that might be appreciated.
So playing today was the plan? Is that still possible?
Alas, Dave's gone to bed! Maybe we should figure out the next time everyone's all free. I'm available the next two Sundays with some flexibility for other days.

ahhhh You win at life. Well done for winning the AC ^_^
Anyone free this week? :D
Dave is on a field trip with no internet, won't be back until the weekend. Maybe next week, though? I think my weekends are fairly flexible for the next month or so.
The Mongrel
05-19-15, 08:21 AM
I won't be available from the 3rd to the 8th of June. We're going to an internetless corner of Texas to see my grandparents.
