Cards of Fate

Name: Vincent Cain

Nickname/Alias: None that he can remember

Age: approximately 20

Race: Human

Height: About 6 feet tall

Weight: Underweight

Occupation: Wanderer

Personality: Vincent is a rather shy young man of few words. He feels rather awkward and doesn't want to say the wrong things at the wrong time. Because of this he doesn't have many friends and keeps to himself. If he finds himself more comfortable around you however he opens up and is rather outgoing. He can be a bit of a coward but when the going gets tough he rises to the occasion. Other than that he's sorta your everyday average young man.

History:
Vincent is a young man who lived a very normal life, for the Dallas suburbs that is. He grew up in his mothers bookstore constantly reading about everything and anything he could get his hands on. He was always fascinated with characters from his books, how brave and strong they were and the things they did. It inspired him to try and be better and do great things. However people terrify him and he can never really find his words. He failed several of his classes in school because they had oral presentations, and even though he's exceedingly clever, got piss poor grades. Because of this he ended up working in his mother's shop after high school instead of going to college. Working part time there and at a local fast food place Vincent managed to make ends meet until on his 20th birthday his father who had walked out on his mother sent him a strange gift. In it was a strange set of rules for a table top RPG known as Althanas with several books, a set of Ivory dice, and a deck of cards sealed with red wax. Bothered by the gift Vincent read up on the rules and was very confused for a bit, there didn't seem to be anything about dice or grid lines, just a bunch of lore and how the land worked. After scouring the books for rules he turned to the deck of cards and opened them, only to find the floor give way under his feet and found himself landing ass first in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the deck of cards and a Twenty sided die in his hands.

Appearance:
Tall but scrawny, not much meat or muscle on his bones. His skin is pale, his hair is a long messy mane of dirty blonde that usually falls in his face obscuring his blue eyes. He's attractive but he's so damn nervous all the time one wouldn't get the impression unless they really noticed.

Skills:
Above Average intelligence
Below Average Stamina
Below Average Strength
Above Average Luck (Used for the dice roll mentioned below, does not constitute a highroll every time but reduces the chance of a 1)

Approximate knowledge of Althanas from his books that he read. However because he was skimming it is simply approximate and will allow him basic survival skills. Also upon entering some areas or countries he may remember snippets of their history or what they are like, simply vague knowledge.

Abilities:
Roll of Fate: When attempting to do something that he is unsure of Vincent can roll his D20, the resulting number will help modify his action. Anything above a ten will improve how he normally would have handled the situation, anything less than ten will detriment him. A 1 is a catastrophic failure, a 20 greatly improves but does not guarantee his success. See below on the die's description

Equipment/Weapons:
Ivory D20: A simple 20 sided dice carved with numbers 1-20 on each of it's faces with each number lined with some sort of red dye to make it pop out from the die's original color. When rolled the number is immediately known by Vincent, and it modifies how well he does in whatever he attempts to do. However unlike in other games, a 20 does not guarantee success. Instead a 20 simply makes him much more likely to succeed. A 1 will cause him to catastrophically fail however. This dice cannot be sold or lost, if misplaced it will return to Vincent's pocket in his sleep.

Deck of Fate: Whenever Vincent pulls a card from this box the box automatically seal itself and cant be drawn from until the condition of the card is met. Upon looking at the Card Vincent is given a vision of something, somewhere, or someone whom he must meet, obtain, or visit. When he has the card will reward him in some manner ranging from increasing his power or by giving him an item of some sorts. There are only so many cards and when all of them have been drawn and completed Vincent will receive a great reward. (These rewards are up to the judges discretion) This box cannot be sold or stolen, if Vincent loses it or it is stolen it will reappear on his person.

This looks pretty good. The D20 acts like a big boost to luck if successful?

Pretty much, It's a gamble that can be just as negative as it can be positive. It's more of a luck based confidence boost
