I went far enough back to notice we haven't had one of these threads in a while.

I've been finishing up the last few chapters of Invitation to a Beheading (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invitation_to_a_Beheading), because I've been on a bit of a Nabokov kick since the summer. However, I haven't really had a chance to unleash some of the absurdity of the world described in it.

In my solo's journal entries, I've been trying to channel Hermann from Despair (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Despair_%28novel%29), as I greatly enjoy the use of prose mixed with an unreliable narrator.

So, what have you been reading lately? And have you found anything in it to inspire your own works?

Well my mom was on the newberry committee a couple years back so the whole second story of my parents house is filled with YA literature. That being said college hasn't left me with a lot of time to sit down and read any of that. I have however recently been shotgunning manga chapters because I've been watching a lot of good anime that didn't get finished plot wise.

I've only really been reading comics right now, but I've been reading and highly recommend:

Lumberjanes, Gotham Academy, and the new Batgirl run for monthlies...

And I just read Blue Pills, a graphic novel memoir about a man's experience falling in love with someone who is HIV+, and it's raw and wonderful and gave me feelings about feelings.

1491's been sitting on the shelf next to my computer for months but I haven't cracked it open yet.

Fanfiction is my thing right now. They can be interesting to read. However, I can't stand shipping wars.

I'm re-reading the Immortals series by Tamora Pierce. It was one of my favorite fantasy series as a kid, and reading them again is making me really happy.
