Job: Wanderer.

Tobias is a hardened veteran. His first few campaigns were short, but brutal. As time went on and he became exposed to newer, more disturbing things, the young man aged in a way beyond the physical. His outlook on life is grim and detached, and even to those who he counts among his friends- few and far between in number- he seems aloof, cold, and largely quiet. In the lucid moments between drinks and battlefields, there are rare moments of laughter and cheaply won smiles. Tobias takes little solace in them.

In the time of conflicts, Tobias was a creature of fickle and fleeting allegiances. From his fledgling follies as a thief and into a brief stint as a mercenary, Stalt found himself carried through fate more than walking through it on his own two feet. Ultimately broken down by his own weaknesses and shortcomings, the boy found himself on a long journey to Alerar.

As a conscripted soldier with little promise, Tobias toiled toward a goal- become something more. Surprising even himself, Tobias excelled in the tasks he was given and was given command of a contingent to wage war on the small nation of Eiskalt. Eiskalt, where everything fell to pieces.

Stalt found a war beneath the true war. Pulling at strings, the assassin Lye sought to break apart a small nation in order to further his own dark agenda. Enraged at the lives thrown away on something so myopic and psychotic, Tobias attempted to steal away with what survivors he could, rather than battle a man who he could not defeat.

Lye thwarted his noble attempt to make amends, and killed all of the men Tobias had managed to spirit away- including his love interest, Camille. Broken, hateful, and suffering, Tobias fought with Lye until he had no fight left. When the dust cleared, Tobias was floating, barely alive, in frigid waters.

After finding his way out of Eiskalt, at every turn, Tobias watched for Lye's assassins, hiding and disappearing as best he could. One day, when it had become too much, Tobias took a trip to the farthest reaches of the world. It seemed that Lye's villainous gaze would follow him everywhere.

Fighting off attempts on his life and lending his blade to those who could offer him decent pay, Tobias grew in strength, but also in weariness. When at last he was tired of running, Tobias resolved to return. Lye would follow him until the bitter end, and so, Tobias would bring all of that bitterness back.

One day, he will face his enemy on even terms.

Skills:

Swordsmanship: Immensely skilled. In his travels, it became necessary to fight and defend both himself and others from constant attacks. Short of a man dedicated solely to swordsmanship, Tobias is virtually peerless.

Hiding/Sneaking/Disappearing: Not as skilled as an assassin, but the next best thing. If Tobias does not want to be seen, it will take a great deal of effort to find him. His movements still make some noise.

Detection: Due to being constantly assailed by assassins, Tobias' senses are sharper. It is not impossible to surprise him, but it is damn hard to accomplish. His paranoia is legendary.

Assassination: Not necessarily skilled with daggers, Tobias is grimly aware of how to sneak them into or out of his hand. Subsequently, he is also good at slipping them into an unsuspecting victim. This skill has helped him to take out quite a few killers before they were able to find him.

Abilities:

Endurance ×4: Tobias can roll with the best brawlers in all of Althanas. A hit that would knock down a lesser man would only cause him to stumble, and bleeding would take three times as long to render him unconscious.

Black Blades: While unable to use magic himself, Tobias discovered a series of writings left over from times unremembered during his travels. Through training and the use of different poultices and oils, Tobias can fashion his weapons crippling to those who channel mystic power through their bodies. The weapons have an oily black appearance, but give off no distinct smell. (Weapons that strike magic users cause poison that disrupts their ability to cast spells their next two posts) If this salve is applied to a weapon with an enchantment, it overrides that enchantment- thus, it cannot be stacked with Calm or Cold to great effect. It is ideal for Blackheart, when faced with an opponent who requires something more brutal. (Effect lasts one day or for a single thread, must designate application in order to legitimately use.)

Art of the Blade: Tobias' agility is much greater due to his extreme training with several types of bladed weaponry- which necessitates a need to dodge and twist the body out of harm's way. (Agility ×4)

Tainted Blood: His inability to be affected by Magical effects has remained. Magical attacks still affect him, but lasting ailments caused by magical sources do not. Additionally, Tobias can inflict a wound on himself and use his blood to counteract a magical effect. (For instance, Tobias cuts himself, and he pours his blood over a victim suffering from magic induced illness. The victim is cured, but only if the amount of blood is sufficient.) Alternately, it can be used to remove a magical effect from an item. (2 Minor effects dispelled/thread)

Equipment: Blackheart (Dehlar Shortsword)

Calm: Damascus Long Knife- in contrast to Cold, Calm does not cause any sort of bodily damage. Instead, it contains a powerful anti-magic that causes it to disrupt normal flows of Tap energy. It does not spread, rather, a person cut with it cannot channel magic power through the stricken area.

The effect that deadens magic is not permanent. The stricken area becomes numb to magic, and the victim cannot channel energy through that area (think Chi pressure points.) Additionally, any wards, enchantments, or other magics on the victim are dispelled when the weapon cuts.

Cold: Damascus Long Knife- When this blade draws blood, the victim's bloodstream begins to run cold, starting from the site of the wound. At first, the afflicted area becomes cold, as if ice had been directly applied. This causes mild discomfort. As time progresses, the chill begins to spread, causing the blood to slow. The appendage begins to turn black and will become useless after thirty minutes. If allowed to spread to the heart or lungs, this effect is lethal.

Rather than literally freezing, the effect is like frostbite. The blood temperature actually drops, and the effect spreads not unlike poison until it reaches the heart. It slows the body and withers the appendages. The effect takes time- while the initial strike feels like ice, the actual effect takes several minutes to take hold. For example, if the wrist were cut, it would make the hand go limp within five minutes. The entire arm might become useless after thirty. Within several hours, if undisturbed, the effect would reach the heart and kill the victim. The resulting sensation is akin to anesthesia- thus, the afflicted area feels numb.

Ok, you're approved. With Black Blades, it probably goes without saying, but it is up to the injured character to determin how exactly that effect them.
